The LaDS in a polycule

We pretty much understand the relationship between the guys and MC (with some differences depending on how you personally characterize your MC).

But how would their relationships with each other?

(Under the cut, cause this turned out longer than I expected. There’s probably some typos but I’m writing this soooo late so whatevs)

Rafayel + Sylus

Sylus’ relationship with Rafayel is much similar to your relationship with fish boi. One’s a brat and the other a brat tamer.

However, the main difference is that Sylus revels being the “top” (for lack of a better word) in this dynamic. Whereas with you, he encourages them to be more domineering and will happily be leashed.

Rafayel pushes your buttons because he knows you’ll still come through for him and also push back in your own bratty way—if that makes sense.

Meanwhile, he genuinely likes pushing Sylus’ buttons because he likes the thrill of him being angry or frustrated.

Sylus and Rafayel essentially play dangerous together. And if you’re wondering where you would fit into that, it’s by being the one to cool them both off but ALSO, Rafayel knows being a little shit will get your attention and in doing so, he’ll be doted on much to Sylus’ annoyance.

Zayne + Xavier

Much like before, Zayne & Xavier’s dynamic are much similar to their dynamics with MC with Zayne being the one to constantly get on Xavier about healthier habits.

Meanwhile, Xavier’s behavior is something that can be calming to someone like Zayne. I think initially, Zayne doesn’t trust Xavier. Despite all of the guys having an obsession with being near you, he doesn’t initially trust Xavier being someone who has the most access to you with both of y’all being Hunters and neighbors.

At least him, Sylus, & Rafayel have lives outside of you but he’s not sure he can say the same for Xavier. So their dynamic is strained at first but they eventually grow warmer.

Ironically, Xavier initially distrusts Zayne for almost the same reasons. You obviously don’t see it that way but Xavier thinks it’s weird that someone you know so closely in your PCP and he doesn’t trust how much he has over your health.

But their dynamic is one that grows into a cautious intimacy where every action is intentional.

Rafayel + Xavier

Rafayel is putting this man THROUGH IT.

All Xavier can think of is “this is a worse version of you”. At least with you, your tendency to get into danger comes from a sense of trying to doing the right thing.

Rafayel—on the other hand—Will dead ass get into trouble cause he knows Xavier will come running. Much like how he does it with you. The main difference is that Xavier is faster and knows that if something happened to Rafayel, you’d be sad……..but maybe you’d just have to get over it if he attempts one of those boat trips again.

It takes time for Xavier to warm up to him because all he does not see the appeal you or any of the others do. He’s glad that polycule doesn’t mean he has to be with EVERYONE in the group because god can he not stand Rafayel right now. To him, he’s a basic rich brat who you give too much attention to.

Then one day, while you all are helping Raf organize his house, Xavier falls asleep on the couch and Rafayel thinks he look ethereal so he paints him. When Xavier ends up seeing it, he’s amazed by the attention to detail and the way he’s depicted as some sort of god of light taking a nap.

It doesn’t instantly change his view of Rafayel but he takes notes that Rafayel is clearly not just some airhead you pay too much attention to.

Zayne + Sylus

They didn’t plan on being the “responsible ones” of the group but look at their competition: a reckless hunter, a diva, and sleeping beauty who thinks instant noodles is a full meal.

Of course, Sylus is more loose with it while Zayne can be more stern.

“Rafayel, you should pay that bill”

“If the diva wants to live in a cardboard box, I say we let him.”

Sylus does it to mess with Zayne….only slightly, he says. To be honest, Silas didn’t like Zayne too much at first and that’s because of an off hand comment you made comparing the two. To him, that meant fighting for your attention until he actually met Zayne and understood. To be honest, he likes that.

That said, he’s more stern with Zayne than he is with anyone else because of how much Zayne really needs to be pushed into taking care of himself In comparison to everyone else in the group.

On Zayne’s end, he never urges Sylus to be more open with the others and merely keep those conversations between the two of them. The polycule is chaotic but Zayne & Sylus’ dynamic is that calmness they both need.

Zayne is given an opportunity to be the one being wined & dined. Yes, you as the MC are always doing your best to take care of him but you aren’t criminal underworld rich now, are you?

Zayne is growing to like being pampered and Sylus teases him for it but completely does pamper him with some of their alone time being Sylus softly running his fingers through Zayne’s hair.

Zayne + Rafayel

Zayne does not put up with Rafayel’s diva behavior AT ALL no matter how hard Rafayel tries. Because he’s kind of no nonsense, Rafayel initially sees him as boring.

“Rafayel, we should probably get going.”

“Why? Because our Stiff Overload will complain? Boohoo.”

Much like how Xavier doesn’t understand the appeal of Rafayel, Rafayel doesn’t understand the appeal of Zayne. In his mind, he can’t imagine you liking someone who is so stiff and…boring. That’s always the words he uses to describe Zayne because he feels it hits him the most.

For Zayne, he similarly doesn’t understand the appeal of Rafayel. At least with Xavier & Sylus, there’s a level of reliability to them but he just can’t see it with Rafayel. (So he basically has the same view as Xavier).

What shifts their perspectives of each other is through their crafts. Zayne sees that when it comes to something he’s truly passionate about, Rafayel is responsible and he goes about his obligations in his own way. Like the time he creatively insults someone at a dinner event for mocking Xavier’s “lack of manners” because he doesn’t pretend to be interested in small talk. Responsibility doesn’t always mean rigidness.

For Rafayel, he sees the care Zayne has in taking care of his patients, including you. He’s not some fancy doctor looking for a paycheck, Zayne wants to really help people and his patients absolutely love him. Passion doesn’t have to be a burst of energy.

Xavier + Sylus

Probably the most anticipated dynamic within the polycule because none of y’all can actually figure out even Zayne is slumped.

Sylus and Xavier actually have the most tension because neither really trusts the other at first. Xavier doesn’t trust Sylus’ intentions with you or anyone else in the polycule but that’s because he knows how ruthless those in the N109 Zone are.

Sylus doesn’t trust Xavier’s intentions either because he’s too shrouded in mystery and it seems like his whole lethargic demeanor is enough to fool everyone else but not him. He knows he’s hiding something about his own intentions and he’ll keep guard.

“I didn’t think you had a fondness of actors, kitten.”

“Can you really trust someone like him?”

They do the most in their rivalry yet try to seem the least bothered by each other. Funnily enough, the only one who peeps it is Rafayel. He notices the way their facial expressions subtly change when dealing with each other.

The shift is that eventually Sylus finds out what Xavier’s here for and Xavier reveals that he’s been holding off. In return, Sylus confides in him about being the leader of Onychinus and the pressure that holds. It’s a genuine heart to heart that allows each other to trust each other, especially since now they both know the other poses no actual threat to the group.

[ TRAINING WHEELS ] haitani ran x reader

࿓ PAIRING: ran haitani x fem!reader

࿓SUMMARY: After a rival gang ambushes you and the haitani brothers, and you disobeying Ran's orders, an argument between the two of you arises.

࿓ A/N: yeah ik I said I was going on hiatus but here's some word vomit I came up with on a long car ride I had today. LMK how ya'll like it...love yaaa <3

This had to be the angriest you had ever seen him.

When you both arrived to his home, he angrily kicks the kickstand of the bike down and throws off his helmet onto the concrete. The plastic cracks upon impact making you wince knowing how much that had cost.

Although even in a rage of anger, he does not forget to help you off his bike. His grip on you is tight and he’s not making any eye contact. A sick nervous feeling sits in your throat, not prepared for the argument that is sure to come. You hear him stomping around and angrily muttering to himself.

“Y/n, inside. Now.” His harsh tone makes you avert your eyes to your feet as you walk through the door he holds open. The door slams shut and Ran is finally able to release all his anger.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?! The fuck do you think you were doing?!” He questions you, a sharp glare matches his harsh words directed at you. You can’t look at him, afraid to see anything but the soft look in his eyes he usually looks at you with. However, he wont stand for that and wants your full attention.

“Look at me when I talk to you” The authority in his voice has you shifting nervously before locking eyes with him.

“M’sorry Ran” You mumbled out, gaze averting his once more. He scoffs and crosses his arms.

“Sorry my ass, d’you know how fuckin’ stupid what you just did was? You could’ve been hurt if Rindou wasn’t there to save your ass,” Ran spits out.

You truly didn’t mean to make him angry, you honestly moved without thinking. You, Ran, and Rindou had been walking around Roppongi after going out for lunch when some low grade gang ambushed the Haitani’s. Ran had instructed you to go into the nearest store, somewhere in public where you could blend in with the crowd easily, but something was telling you to stay right where you were.

You shuffled to a corner, far enough away but close enough to step in if needed. Though, you should have more faith in your boys, seeing as in mere seconds they had already taken out more than half the rival gang. You had been about to follow Ran’s orders and walk away, until you noticed something out of the corner of your eye. A boy who had been previously beaten was back for revenge, a pipe in hand and ready to strike Ran as he kicked at a man on the ground.

You moved without thinking calling out Ran’s name as you pushed the attacker causing him to stumble, however he was quick to regain his footing and now making you his new target. He raised his arms to swing, but due to a swollen eye he missed Rindou coming in his blind spot and taking him down before he could lay any harm on you.

A strong arm wrapped around your waist and pulled you into their chest. You recognized Ran’s panting from behind you, he spins you around to face him. His eyes frantic and full of fear as he checks over your body for any injuries. Once he concludes your fine, the anger comes.

Once he assures the fight is over and Rindou is safe, He drags you to his bike, not even bidding his brother goodbye, practically threw the extra helmet at you and placed you atop his bike. After going way above the speed limit and totally ignoring road laws, you and Ran ended up in his kitchen.

“I know…but you were gonna get hurt. I didn’t mean to not listen to you” Your voice is soft and quiet, not wanting anger him more with an attitude.

“I would rather take a blow to the head than have even a scratch on you. You scared the shit out of me, I don’t want you to do anything like that again. Leave the fighting to me and Rindou” Ran’s glare softens as he seems to be calming down. He uncrosses his arms and makes his way over to you. You have half the mind to step back, but you know he would never hurt you.

His rough hands tilt your chin over and up to look at him. Ran is not one to apologize, stubborn and confident, he never sees how he is in the wrong. Although he is not sorry for the reason behind his anger and he thinks how he reacted to you disobeying him was pretty mellow to how he truly wanted to act, he does think that he could have handled his anger against you a little better. His lilac eyes swim with emotion; love, anger, sorrow.

“I can’t make any promises. I won’t just stand there and watch you get hurt Ran, not if I can stop it,” Your hand reaches out and grabs his, fingers entwining. His grip is tight on you as if he’s scared you might slip away.

He doesn’t reply to you. You know he isn’t happy with your words, but he can’t really be mad seeing as he feels the same towards you. Hell would freeze over before he lets anyone lay a finger on his girl.

He sighs before letting go of your face and leaning down to bump foreheads with you, then placing his head in the crook of your neck. His eyes are closed, you think he might be collecting his thoughts and calming himself down as he rests his body against yours. You lift the hand not in his to wrap around his neck and pull him closer, then slowly untwine your hand with Ran’s to wrap the other around him. His own arms are quick to tightly slither around your waist.

You know for the rest of the day, maybe even tomorrow, you’ll have to baby him to make up for the fear you caused him to feel. You’re sure your not forgiven yet, by either of the Haitani’s. You know as soon as Rindou arrives home you’ll get a grumbled lecture for your stupidness.

“Ran, do you want to lay down?” You whisper into his ear, causing a shiver to run down his spine. He lifts his self from you, standing at his full height towering over you.

One hand of his slides up to cup your cheek and you nuzzle you face closer to his cold hand. A small smile graces his pretty face at your actions. He leans down once more, his lips hovering over yours. You feel his warm breath fan across your lips.

“Please don’t leave me, I can’t lose you. You worried me today,” He whispers against your lips, his eyes cloud over in doubt. Doubt of himself and if he was enough to protect you. He doesn’t know what he would do with himself if he let you get hurt, or worse.

“I wouldn’t dream of it, Haitani” You breath out before finally pressing your lips against his. As if made for one another, your lips mold perfectly together.

Emotions not said aloud are made known through the kiss, feelings of love shared between the two of you, apologies of former behavior, and forgiveness. You pull away for a moment to catch your breath before diving right back in to pepper kisses all over Ran’s face. With each kiss you mumble out whispers of your love fore him, causing a love sick smile to stretch across his face. His eyes open slowly as he gazes at you with adoration in his eyes, his mood taking a full 180° from what it was earlier. You have that affect on him, calming even his greatest emotions with just your presence.

Without another word you were lifted up into his strong arms as he carries you into his room, “ I think you owe me for all the worrying you caused…and maybe a punishment later as well for disobeying me”.

You’re not sure what that punishment entails, but if it’s anything you’re thinking of, you’ll welcome it with open arms…or legs…

❋ It starts small; Sanzu leaving work promptly at seven, and seemingly vanishing into thin air. He can’t be found in any of Bonten’s offices, he isn’t in his room in the penthouse, and he won’t pick up anyone but Mikey’s calls. Since everyone else figures that even Bonten’s Number Two needs a break, Sanzu’s odd behaviour isn’t really the newest topic of discussion in the weekly gossip chain.

❋ And though Sanzu often shows up to work with a sweet, unfamiliar fragrance lingering upon his clothes, everyone assumes it’s from a random fling. Those are common in Bonten after all, and once again, it’s not really considered out of the ordinary.

❋ Kakucho witnesses Sanzu coming to work with a worn, unfamiliar scarf wrapped around his neck. It’s not from a high-end brand; the clumsy stitches are proof enough. But from how gently Sanzu handles the fabric, it’s obvious that the item of clothing has sentimental value attached to it. And because it’s Kakucho, he doesn’t say a word to anyone.

❋ The other executives only start suspecting something’s up when Sanzu’s phone rings during a routine interrogation. And after a quick glance at the screen, he’s already stepping out of the room and calling for Ran and Rindou to take over. And because the two of them are Sanzu’s very concerned best friends (self-proclaimed), this culminates in them pressing their ears to the door to try and listen in.

❋ “Yeah, yeah, I’ll get the eggs.” And Ran and Rindou trade a wide-eyed glance because they’ve never heard Sanzu sound so … Soft. Or domestic. “And the milk. Yeah, I’ll be home by seven.”

❋ As soon as Sanzu comes back into the room, Ran and Rindou practically jump him in a bid to get more details. But all Sanzu does is wave his gun around and yell at them to get back to work. He’s tight-lipped and refuses to tell them anything about who he was on the phone with, no matter how much the brothers beg and plead and taunt.

❋ It doesn’t matter. Ran and Rindou are smart, annoyingly so, and they’ve already started piecing things together.

❋ And their suspicions are all but confirmed when you when you visit Bonten’s main office. You’re talking to the receptionist, but you turn around as soon as Sanzu calls out your name. You grace the other executives with a sweet smile, but that’s all you get the chance for, because Sanzu’s already hustling you away before you can so much as call out a greeting to them.

❋ “Well, I missed you, and I wanted to see you! Let’s go out for dinner!”

❋ Sanzu’s touching you with love and care, and Ran and Rindou recognise that too soft, too sweet tone of voice. And holy shit, it all makes sense now.

sanzu loves to help you with your hair. whether it’s shampooing your hair when you take showers together or brushing, curling, drying it. loves it when you ask him to help you with a new hairstyle you saw on tiktok or pinterest. he’s had different hair styles and colors, so he knows how to take care of most hairstyles. and if he doesn’t, he’s eager to learn.

we all know mitsuya would make you clothes, but he also loves to read for you. he loves going to a park with you, sitting against a tree with your head on his lap while he reads the book out loud. reading with him is soothing and you like how you two comment on the story line and characters while going through the book.

inui loves giving you long hugs. as in he often just hugs you out of nowhere for like 5 minutes without saying anything, sometimes leaving kisses on your face and on top of your head. it’s like recharging a battery, if he feels a little down he just needs one of those hugs from you, and he’ll feel 100% better afterwards.

ran buys you flowers every week. you never asked him to, but he considers this as something every man should do for their partner. it makes you all mushy-gushy inside even after years of dating, and it’s always exciting, wondering what kind of flowers he’ll buy you this time since he changes it up every week.

chifuyu who loves leaving cute notes all around the house for you, it’s adorable. he does it when he knows you have been feeling down lately, or if there is a big event coming up that is stressing you out. some people could think it’s a little silly, but it always makes you smile, especially when you’re at work and find a note in your purse encouraging you to keep going. you know how lucky you are to have such a supportive partner.

kakucho who will always wake up at the same time as you, no matter how late or early it is, unless he has a very important meeting. if you start work very early, he’ll wake up at the same time as you and make sure you eat breakfast, before accompanying you to your car/the subway station. if you’re sleeping in late, he’ll stay in bed with you knowing you need that extra sleep and rest. sometimes he’ll just get out of bed earlier to buy you breakfast.

“What’s your passcode?” Mikey looks at you in intrigue, smirking when you realise that he’s holding your phone in his hand.

Now, you’re not too protective over your phone. But for some reason, the thought that Mikey wants to unlock it makes you nervous.

“It’s the day of our first date.” You respond timidly, swallowing the lump of nerves in your throat. You watch as he types in the code and flicks through your phone, a pleased smirk growing on his face after a few seconds.

“What’s this?” Mikey teasingly turns your phone screen towards you, displaying the background photo of him that you took while he was sleeping.

“I- I just thought you looked so handsome…” you trail off, fiddling with your fingers as you explain your choice of background.

“It’s funny cause I have you asleep as my background too.” Your head shoots up to meet your boyfriends cheeky expression, both of you bursting into laughter over how similar you really are.

“What you doing?” Draken curiously asks, taking you a little by surprise as he leans over the back of the sofa. He’s seen you scrolling through your phone from the other room and decided that he wanted your attention.

“Oh, nothing.” You crane you neck round to get a better look at your boyfriend, sending him a warm smile.

What you realise a second too late, however, is that Draken’s attention isn’t on you, but on your phone screen which you left unlocked.

You’ve never told him this, but you set your background to a picture of him. It’s one of your favourites, taken on your third date well over a year ago now. He’s sat on a park bench, looking at the scenery instead of the camera, a cheeky grin on his face. Everytime you look at the picture it brings back so many fond memories of when you first fell in love. That’s why you chose it as your background, so you could always remember that special date.

“You’re too cute.” Draken goofily smiles down at you, pressing a kiss to your cheek when you shyly turn your head away. You can feel your cheeks warming as they flair a deep crimson, you heart beating just that little bit faster from his kiss.

“Now it’s perfect.” baji assertively states, finally handing you back your phone.

A huge grin takes over your face when you lay eyes on your new background picture; one of you both smiling at each other, looking like two idiots in love.

Initially you’d had just a picture of baji on his own as your background. It was a selfie that he had taken and you thought he looked so sweet and handsome that you had saved it and made it your background screen.

When baji saw your choice of background, however, he wasn’t satisfied. Although he loved that it was a picture of him, he wanted something more personal to take its place. A picture only you had.

“It really is.” You beam up at your boyfriend in responce, laughing heartily when he pulls you into a warm hug and squishes you against his chest a little too tightly.

“It’s not cute, it’s embarrassing.” Chifuyu whines like a child.

Finding out that the background on your phone is an embarrassing picture of him made your boyfriend complain non stop in an attempt to get you to change it. But unluckily for Chifuyu you’re not budging in the slightest.

“Chifuyu who’s gonna even see it besides me?” You flatly state, unimpressed with his relentless pleaing.

“But what if one of your friends or cousin sees it while they are with you, or you lose your phone.” He persuades, though you only shake your head in responce, rolling your eyes playfully.

“You wanna know why that picture of you is my background?” Chifuyu nods, still pouting at you. “Because it’s real. It’s who you are, my dorky, loveable boyfriend.” You caress his cheek affectionately, watching as Chifuyu tries to hide the smile that grows on his face.

“Ok… I guess you can keep it then.” He dramatically sighs, pulling you into his embrace and hiding his face in the crook of your neck.

“That’s a little bit frightening.” Mitsuya snickers as he looks over your shoulder while you are on your phone. You look up at him to see his amused smirk, letting out a laugh upon the realisation that he’s never seen your background before.

It’s an edited picture of him, which you of course made it a meme you found it so funny you and made your background… just so you could look at it and laugh now and again.

“It is a little, but it’s funny.” You join in, watching as Mitsuya simply shakes his head at you in return, a wide smile on his face.

“You have the strangest sense of humour, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.” He comments adoringly.

K a z u t o r a

“I like the one of us together better.” kazutora points to the picture of you smiling together on your camera roll.

You were deciding on what photo to make your new background and your nosey boyfriend was insistent on a particular photo of you both because he feels he’s not embarrassing or awkward in that one.

“But you’re always embarrassing and awkward.” You cheekily smirk, bursting into laughter when Kazutora deadpans you.

“Come on, be serious.” He encourages, tapping on his choice of picture to enlarge it.

“But it’s what I love about you… we’re awkward together!” You plea up at Kazutora, trying to get him to see the funny side at least. And it doesn’t take long before he cracks a smile, both of you laughing as you set your background picture to the one that captured you both off guard.

“Really, that’s your background?” Ran sasses, successfully gaining your attention. He’d been acting off with you all day and you’re not sure why. You know he’s stressed with things so you’ve been letting his rudeness slide, but now it’s starting to upset you. There’s only so long you can go before you bite back.

Your background just so happens to be a picture of you together from your recent holiday, back when you both were happy and relaxed and your boyfriend wasn’t constantly in a bad mood.

“I know right, instead of having a picture of my boyfriend I should change it to something that doesn’t upset me.” Ran stops in his tracks upon hearing your comment, spinning around on his feet to face you, letting out a huff.

“And what’s that supposed to mean?” He interrogates, slowly taking a few steps towards you.

“What it means is that my boyfriend has been nothing but rude to me all day for no apparent reason.” You state, trying to keep a straight face. But that doesn’t stop Ran for seeing your eyes well up with tears, his hard expression instantly falling off his face and his defensive attitude fading.

“(Y/N) I’m sorry. I love that I’m your background, really.” Ran apologises with wide eyes, nodding his head eagerly to show you he truly means it. “I’ve just got so much going on at the moment, I’m exhausted.” He continues, leaning into you when you cuddle into his side.

“Good because I didn’t want to have to change it.” You chuckle, cuddling yourself tighter into his embrace.

R i n d o

Rindo had the biggest grin on his face when you entered the room, your phone in his hand as he stared at the smiling photo of him as your background.

“I didn’t know I was your background.” You giggle at how happy your boyfriend is because of this.

“Of course you are.” You state like it’s no big deal, that it’s just a causual thing that most couples do.

“Well I love it.” Rindo wraps his arm around your shoulder, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek. “But you know what I’d love even more…” he trails off, sending you a devilish grin as you turn to face him.

“What.” You cautiously question, not sure if you want to know the answer or not.

“If you’re background was that embarrassing picture of you when you were drunk.” He darkly chuckles. “We can bet on it, if you lose then you’ll change your background.” Rindo proposes.

“I’m willing to take that risk.” You agree, matching your boyfriends playfully challenging expression.

“Too bad you’re not mine…” koko quickly comments before rushing away from you.

“koko!” You shout after him in warning, telling him to get back to you though your tone.

It all started when he snatched your phone out of your hands and stumbled upon your background picture of him. Now, koko is in a particularly playful mood today, so his child like tormenting was all in good nature, but also very annoying after a while.

You cross your arms as you sulk, refusing to get out of your comfy seat to chase after him. You don’t even acknowledge your boyfriend when he enters the room again and takes a seat beside you, holding his phone in front of you.

“What did you just do.” You finally turn to face him when you hear him giggle as he taps away on his phone.

“I just got a new background.” He smirks, turning the screen around to reveal a picture of you sulking away. “Now we’re even.” He cheekily comments, holding his phone out of reach when you make a lunge to try and grab it out of his hand.

“What is that?” Inui shyly smiles at you as he leans into your side to get a better look at your phone.

“It’s you silly.” You laugh, finding his reaction very amusing. He simply rolls his eyes in responce.

Inui has just become aware of your background photo, a picture of him smiling cheesily. You just thought he looked so adorable, you couldn’t not put it as your background so you could look at it all day.

“Do you not like it?” You hold back your smirk, your gaze flicking up to meet Inui’s.

“No! I mean, if you like it, then I like it too.” He nods, smiling brightly back at you.

You honestly don’t know how he manages to be so completely adorable, but it makes your heart skip a beat every time.

“I’m glad.” You coo, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

“Because couples need to have matching backgrounds.” Izana states like it’s a well known fact, following you around relentlessly.

He’d been trying to get you to take some couple pictures with him, just so you could have the same background on your phone. But you are reluctant, already liking the picture you have of him.

“But I don’t want to change mine.” You roll your eyes feigning annoyance. “And besides, couple photos are forced and cringey.” You comment, knowing fully well it will set your boyfriend off on a rant.

“It’s not cringey it’s cute!” Izana complain, rushing to catch up to you as you walk away. “(Y/N)! Come back.” He calls out through a whine, chasing after you desperately while you are a giggling mess.

Rindou looks so awkward, sitting on the couch in your living room but he tries his best to lessen the tense atmosphere by playing with his nephew. He loves to gossip– gosh, he loves hearing the most ridiculous situations people put themselves in but if it's about his brother and his ex sister-in-law, he'd like to be excluded in the narrative. 

"We're just gonna wait in the car. Don't take too long, Ran." Rindou has to leave the room and take his seven year-old nephew with him as soon as Ran opens his mouth to talk about the 6'3 foot man you were seen with last week. He knew it was going to be messy so he took the initiative to give you and his brother some privacy to talk about your… well, relationship?

"That's really none of your business." You answer him dismissively, still busy arranging the contents of your son's bag for his weekend trip with his dad and his uncle. 

There's a scoff that Ran couldn't help but let out while staring bullets through your head. "Yes, it is. What would Ren think if he sees his mother fucking another man that isn't his dad?"

Pause. You need to release a heavy breath to calm yourself or else you're going to lash out and possibly let your child hear you screaming at his father. "You sure do have a lot of nerve to say that after everything you did."

"Christ, Y/N! That was– I don't know! Two, three years ago?" Ran snaps back, his towering height in front of you now and completely devouring your figure with just his shadow.

"Whatever happened two or three years ago is the reason why we're even here in the first place. Stop projecting, Haitani." Your words are firm and strong, this time looking up at him through your lashes with eyes burning with so much annoyance and displeasure. 

Truth be told, you're sure that the love you have for this man will linger on until you're gray and old but there's only so much you can take. The damage in your relationship when he cheated on you is irreparable.

"What do you even mean by that?" Ran asks with a humorless chuckle, "You can't tell me you haven't fucked the man when you kept meeting up with him for the entire week. What do you take me for?"

A fool. That's what you are, Ran Haitani! You want to tell him but you don't want to give him the satisfaction of riling you up despite your blood boiling.You've always been good at keeping your composure so you do what you do best. Inhale. He's not worth it. Exhale. You're better than this. This time, you decided to put distance between him and yourself by standing up and strengthening the creases on your dress– or else his cheek will end up bruised with how much your hand is itching to land a harsh slap on his skin. "If you don't have anything left to say, you can leave. Ren's things are all in the bag now. Enjoy your trip, Haitani." 

Ran is left speechless, his mouth gaping as his eyes follow your graceful body in opening the door, wordlessly asking him to go fuck himself and be on his damned way. This is one of the many reasons why he fell in love with you. You know how to put him in his place without having to put so much effort into it… but it's also why he's seething mad. Without as much of a thought, he walks over to the door– not to leave but so he can slam it shut.

"What is wrong with you?" You're glaring at him and he can see the tiny cracks in your facade. You're so close to breaking. 

"I'm not leaving until we talk about this. Stop acting like a fucking child." He growls, purple eyes scanning your scowling features as he traps you between him and the wall. 

You don't know where he gets the audacity to talk like you're the one who did him wrong when it's the other way around. "I'd rather we don't. There are things that must be left alone so we can remain as cordial as possible in front of our child," You're looking at him with no trace of any emotion present in your face, "Truth be told, I don't want to see you ever again but we're bound together because of Ren so let's just pretend like we're on good terms or whatever."

You see his fist clench, his jaw slackening as he stared you down, trying to intimidate you but you're no longer the soft and submissive Mrs. Haitani. Thanks to him, you learned how to stand your ground. "Why do we have to pretend when we can fix things, Y/N? Why are you making a big fuss out of this? It's been years."

He's right. It's been years, he's got so much time to fix things with you and your son before but he didn't. He turned away and continued to be frivolous as if he wasn't married and got a child waiting for him at home. He wasn't even there when Ren's baby tooth fell off nor was he present for Ren's first day at kindergarten. He wasn't there when Ren got so sick he had to be admitted to the hospital and you were breaking down in the arms of his brother, Rindou. Heck– you can't even count how many times he stood you up on special occasions, telling you he's got so much "shit" to do or because it slipped off his mind but seems to never forget his secretary's birthday. 

"You forgot? Of course you forgot. You seem to be forgetting a lot of things these days but then perk up at the reminder of your secretary's birthday."

"How can I forget? We're always together."

"And we're not? Oh right. Yes, we're not always together because when you're supposed to be at home, you're out with her on fancy dates, traveling to different places while I'm here with my son, worrying about you and wondering when you're going to come home!"

"Can you stop, Y/N? I'm really not in the mood to argue with you."

"You want me to stop? Okay. Then let's end this marriage and get divorced. I'm sick of getting treated like a bed warmer and a fucking maid. I'm done."

"You don't mean that! I'm not going to let you–"

"I'm not asking for permission. I'm telling you what's gonna happen. I'm taking Ren with me and you can go do whatever you want."

That was the end of it. It was cruel to let go of him not because you feel bad for him or the love you still have for the father of your child remains above all things but because Ren didn't deserve to have a broken family. You didn't want him to grow up without a dad by his side and realize once he's old enough that his dear mother got cheated on only because his father thought she wasn't doing it for him anymore. 

With a smile that doesn't reach your eyes, you bring your hand up to his cheek in a caress– the familiar softness in them tearing your heart yet again. You miss him. You do but for the sake of your own sanity and the only hope left for Ren to grow up with a stable mother despite being away from his dad, from his mother's first and greatest love– you accept that things can't always go the way you want. No more self destruction, no more doubting yourself– just you and your son and the memories of what once a happy life you had with Ran Haitani.

"You're the one who gave up on us and ruined what's left of our family, Ran. I only gave you what you wanted."

It was a sunny day when Mikey collected his boyfriend from classes, having been scolded enough by (name) to not abduct him mid lesson.

"(name)~ I missed you so much!" Mikey practically sang out as he pulled his boyfriend close "it's only been a few hours you big baby" (name) teased slightly as he hugged him back.

"but I'm youuur baby~!" Mikey teased as the two wandered off to their date spot, both needing some time together between being student council president and president of toman the two were exhausted.

The two were eating treats happily as (name) gently cleaned off Mikey's face and just generally having a good time and completely unaware of a young teen with poorly bleached blond hair seeing the situation unfold.

No one fucking believed Takemichi when he said he saw Mikey holding hands with the student council president at Mikey's school.

They would know if their friend and leader had a boyfriend.

He would have told them.

Right?

It wasn't until Mikey snuck off to go do some nonsense that the toman captains and a few vice captains decided to find out for themselves and boy howdy did they learn things.

Mikey clinging to the tallest and prettiest boy they have ever seen as Mikey practically treated the poor boy like a jungle gym as the other who they assumed was this boyfriend as takemichi claimed just read a book all while sitting on a park bench.

"Mikey why are there a group men staring at us?" (Name) asked calmly while not looking away from his book and Mikey looked around curiously, annoyed that someone would possibly be spying on them.

"oh that's just Ken-chin and the others!" Mikey said happily while waving at the group before continuing to annoy his boyfriend for giggles.

Eventually the group came forward and they had questions.

"oh this is my boyfriend!" Mikey said casually and pouted when said boyfriend smacked his arm slightly before standing and giving a bow "hello, my name is (name) (last name), it's a pleasure to meet you all" he said politely with a soft smile and the others (save for Mikey) at the pure politeness that radiated off the other.

"Mikey did you not tell them about me?" (Name) asked curiously while glancing back at his boyfriend who was pouting at the fact that his boyfriends attention was no longer on him.

"they never asked!"

"I'm sorry for him" (name) said calmly as he pulled some wrapped Taiyaki out of his bag and handed it to the blond who accepted it happily.

"Mikey why didn't you tell us?? We aren't mind readers!" Draken yelled annoyed as Mikey just smiled sweetly "because he's mine ♡"

"Mikey it's rude to not introduce your boyfriend to your friends" Draken scolded as Mitsuya and a few others began chatting with the student president.

Evening rolled around and Mikey was walking (name) home, the two holding hands gently as Mikey held the tall man close.

"I'm glad they like me..." (Name) spoke up as they got to his house and Mikey just smiled gently "what's not to like? Your my perfect little (name) ♡"

Solas fell to his knees. There he stayed, crumpled and unmoving with his head bowed, an artist in the quiet throes of grief, his fingers smearing paint as he clenched them into fists.

“I’m sorry,” Solas whispered. His body shuddered from the force of a swallowed cry. “I have no right to say I love you.”

@cdraconik once again blows me away! This time, it’s art of the mural mentioned in chap 91 that Solas painted. And! I love how they played with the eluvian’s shape and made it similar to a moon gate and how you can see the mural through the eluvian– AH! Thank you so much!
