I hate when actors say, “You never really see straight male and female friendships on TV,” because… yes, you do. Basically every show has them. Even shows centred around romance, or where the main characters are in relationships, still usually have male/female friendships elsewhere in the cast.
Even The Pitt has them: Dana and Robbie, Whitaker and Santos, and other dynamics that are clearly platonic. So I don’t really buy that as a reason not to explore a connection that is already so obviously there. It feels less like protecting friendship representation and more like avoiding a dynamic the audience has picked up on.
