There is definitely a pronounced difference between these two plants and i still can't tell if it's environmental or just natural variation or not. Some places are calling the top one Monstera adansonii and the bottom one Monstera friedrichstahlii but I have also seen them flopped (also Monstera obliqua but most people now accept that that's a different plant and uncommon in cultivation).
The bottom one is how mine grows when given support in a home environment butttt I have also had cuttings from this plant grown at the greenhouse that start to have more windows and more wrinkled leaves as they grow.
It could also be that the top plant has been treated with a plant growth regulator for denser growth for easier shipping and selling. I've seen Raphidophoras and Monsteras treated like that recently and people freak oiut thinking it's a new form lol

These plants are among my favorite!! So easy to care for, can tolerate a wide range of light, drought tolerant and can stay in the same pot for years once it’s reached the grower’s desired size. They propagate so easily and do so in many mediums; there’s water, sphagnum moss, soil...etc. And they just look so nice anywhere in an apartment.
These are two monsteras I grew from 4 in pots starting back in spring of 2016. I had to rehome them in early 2019 since I moved across the country. I miss these big bois, yet I’m thankful that they are in awesome homes instead of dying in the back of a moving truck. I’m growing a new plant from a cutting I carried with me <3
Do you own a Monstera? Which house plants are your favorites?
Send me an ask or reply below! <3
