I don't know if I'm dumb or something but Matt's comment about Netlix's reaction to Chapelle's special seems to be trending and I'm not even sure I understand what he meant or why it's a big deal?

So, Chappelle’s latest Netflix special had some commentary about trans people that some people found offensive, including a few dozen employees of Netflix who staged a walk-out in protest.  The CEO defended the special (Dave’s “creative freedom”), while also taking personal blame on the messaging with the staff around it.  What I assume Matt meant is that he thinks it was good for Netflix to stand behind Dave Chappelle’s “creative freedom” and not move to remove the special or edit it just because some people were offended by what Dave said in the special.  Matt thinks that other creatives in the industry will appreciate a company like Netflix backing the artists, even if they say things that not everyone will agree with or may find offensive.  Hope that helps.

I was just watching some shitty old Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen that Seth MacFarlane hosted. Why have they named it "Alma Junction" and not BoM? I don't get it, is to preserve the secret of the movie that they are supposed to be doing? I didn't know that they were already starting to shoot a movie in Colorado, I hope we can see it next year.

I also feel bad for Trey, poor man 😄 but it's true that it has surprised me, and I suppose it has many too, how good and youthful Matt looks here at 50. He has always looked good, but damn it!

I guess they gave Alma Junction as the working title just for it to be less obvious what the film is about. I'll be looking forward to seeing how the movie adaptation will differ from the stage show! It might be VERY different, and they might not even call it the Book of Mormon in the end.

I agree that Matt looks amazing and youthful, and many people have obviously noticed it. It's just a shame that people often feel like they have to compare the two of them when ever talking about it. I'm sure Matt wouldn't want to be complimented in a way that's putting Trey down.

That's right, he first went to the Berklee College of Music for one year but then dropped out and went to CU Boulder instead. Him and Matt got out of CU in '93, so I assume they started there in 1990 in which case Trey would have turned 21 the year he started.

Four years for the bachelors. Another 2 on average for a masters. Some can be combined and done in 5 years. Graduate degrees are another few years. Matt probably has a BS or BA. Hard to say when you blend math(s) and film. 😎

I think in the UK Bachelors is normally 3 years and Masters one year on top of it.

I think the difference is in the states you often have required and elective courses whereas I’ve heard in the UK you just focus on your major field in class work. For example, I have a BBA, but I still had to take 4 semesters of a foreign language, some social and natural science credits. Because of business school I was able to avoid humanities though. 🤓

How do you think Matt and Trey manage to stay so private? I’ve never really seen paparazzi pics of them or heard stories of them being harassed by them. And thankfully I haven’t seen pap pics of Matt’s kids.

Yeah, it's interesting. I think it's maybe mostly that they're not really the kind of celebrities that are of interest for paparazzies. Magazines and online publications probably wouldn't pay very much money for pap shots of Matt and Trey and the general public probably wouldn't be that interested in them.

Having said that, I HAVE actually seen a few pap shots of Matt over the years. Like

I feel like Matt and Trey didn't really think past what they explicitly said in the show (Cartman being the last, Clyde not being the first), but who knows?

I've always felt like the best twist would be if Kyle was actually the first on the list, even if that's kind of cliche. Maybe that's why they chose not to say anything.

Oh yeah, his cat was called Jake. I think there was another commentary where you could hear the cat going meow in the background and Trey was telling him off. Also in the Quest for Ratings episode when they're showing cute animals close up with a wide angle lens, in the commentary Trey mentions that his cat Jake is there. I think you can hear him in the background on the Orgazmo commentary too.

I remember when Trey had a private Facebook profile at one point in the mid 2000s, his profile picture was of him with his 1st wife and cat.
