“The Selection Series”
Looking for a new series to read? Well if you’re like me and enjoy fictional books with a dash of romance I have the series for you. About a year ago my friend lent me a book called “The Selection”. She said it was like The Bachelor but for a prince. Being a pretty good fan of the Bachelor I was instantly intrigued and thought I would try it out. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. But don’t worry I am not here to ruin the story, you can read it for yourself! Just so you have an idea about the pure bliss you’re going to feel the book really has a way of pulling you in. Let’s be honest here who doesn’t want to be picked by a prince to be his princess, I DO. Whether you feel frustrated because you just want America to say she loves Prince Maxon, feel giggly with emotions over the romance, and pure jealousy or rage over the other contestants this book is going to get your attention. And the best part is the whole series is already out so no waiting for the next book to come out. You can binge all you want.
Happy Reading!
The Guide to Freshman Year I Wish I Had
It was just 4 years ago I was off to college and completely terrified. I wish I had been told all of these things so here I am, trying to help the next generation of freshman.
1.Going away is SCARY and that’s OKAY
College is scary AF, but guess what? EVERYONE is scared so congrats there’s your first topic of conversation.
Feeling homesick is natural even if you’re the most independent person ever. Don’t freak out I felt like that my first day but you get over it.
2.Get INVOLVED
The more you do nothing the more you’re going to hate college. Join something. Play intramurals, rush a sorority, join a club.If you’re used to being part of a team it’s natural to want that in college. For me it was a sorority for you, who knows?
But really this is one of the best points on this list.
3.Be OPEN
You are no longer in a small high school, there are THOUSANDS of people who come from all over the place. People raised different with different backgrounds. It may make you feel uncomfortable because its new to you but take in opportunities to learn and grow.
4.Date around
Okay hold your horses I’m not saying go be promiscuous and sleep with everyone. What I am saying is it’s good to go on a date here or there even if it doesn’t turn serious. DON’T I repeat DON’T just jump into things but its good to meet new people find out what you like and what you don’t. I’ve seen so many people try and hold onto a high school relationship and later on realize they don’t even know what they want anymore. High school sweethearts works for some people and that’s okay, but others need to explore themselves before making that commitment.
5.College is LIFE CHANGING
You are going to change so much in college for the better. Thinking of me my freshman year and now is CRAZY but awesome. The next 4 years will be your time to fail at things, win at things, learn things, and find out who you really are. Its okay to sometimes feel like you don’t know what you want or who you are anymore. It all comes together.
6.Do things to further your career
You’re resume for finding a job is going to solely consists of things from your college career. Hold positions in your clubs, work part time for a couple of semesters, and get summer internships. It’s SO important. PLEASE be careful of what you post on social media. Alcohol doesn’t make you look cool I promise so don’t post it because companies look at that stuff. I’ve actually been asked for links to all of my stuff and believe it or not they hire people specifically to monitor their employees pages.
7.Be SAFE
So here’s the thing college can be dangerous when you aren’t safe. Rape happens, people get arrested, there’s CRIME. When you go out pour your own drinks for really real, only go out with people you trust to not just leave you like a dead carcass on the floor, don’t get smashed all the time, get pepper spray and make good decisions. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
8.STUDY
No more before the night studying and that’s all I have to say on that. Get good grades your first year cause they go down when you pick your major (ps its okay to change your major)
This is some main things that I thought are important to freshman but please fell free to ask any and all questions!

Owning a Dog in College
Well here goes my first post so no judgements please, but thats besides the point. As someone who owned a dog in college I’ve always received questions on how possible it actually is so I’m taking the opportunity to educate people on the pros and cons of this HUGE decision.
To start of I am a HUGE animal lover. You name it and I love it. I grew up with a dog in my family so I had a pretty good understanding of what it entailed. For me the decision to rescue a dog was very thought out. This is something I had wanted for years and it was not a split decision caused by “puppy fever”. I was in my senior year of college and was taking a lighter course load and had some spare time. I knew I was going to get a dog when I graduated so I figured better to train the dog now before I work full time and have to leave all day, so that’s what I did. if you are trying to decide if you want a dog here are some key factors I think you should know about before jumping in.
LOCATION
Where you are is very important when it come to housing an animal so if you live on campus I’m sorry but it’s not going to happen. If you’re like me and moved off campus the first thing to do is research your area. At my school dogs are very very very common. All the apartments allow them and there are plenty to play with. Most places even have dog parks for the residents to go to. I was shocked to find out from one of my friends that her school was not the same. So if your like her it may not be wise especially when your furry friend won’t have anyone to run around and play with.
COST
Most college students like to claim how poor they are which is completely okay. If that is the case for you I would stick to getting a fish because dogs run up a pretty hefty tab. Just from my personal experience I will list a few fees for you. My dogs adoption fee was $280 and this can vary greatly depending on where you get them. His vet bill runs me about $55 a month plus the emergency fees. For example theres nothing like your dog running into a vase like a clutz and cutting his leg open. You also need to factor in any apartment fees and I would save an extra $500 for toys, crates, bones etc.
TIME
There is nothing more sad then seeing someone post that they are giving their animal away because they don’t have the time. If you are a freshman, sophmore or maybe even junior I wouldn’t recommend it. College is for care free living and exploring which is also okay. If you are the type of person that wants to go out every weekend or take spontaneous trips a dog is not for you. Dogs need love and affection and if you don’t have the time its okay to wait a couple of years for taking on the responsibility.
Overall I was completely prepared for all of these things. I had the help of my friends and boyfriend caring for my dog when I needed it and overall I saved the money and made time for him. My dog has quite literally changed my whole world and I couldn’t imagine not adopting him. He’s my furever furry friend that I couldn’t live without.
