I have traveled to Arba Minch in Ethiopia only once. It lies probably two hours south of Hawassa if my memory serves me correctly. Arba Minch was beautiful from the vantage point of where I stayed. From the balcony of the Emerald Lodge’s restaurant you could see for miles including forests, a mountail, and Lake Abaya.
I loved this trip because I was putting together a journalist trip for the International Reporting Project (IRP) that was located at Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies. The IRP unfortunately closed its doors a few years ago, another victim to news trends that really doesn’t care too much about international news.
My trip was at least five years ago, but traveling throughout Ethiopis is a memory I will never forget. I have visited Ethiopia more times than I can count now. It honestly is one of my favorite countries in Ethiopia. After this COVID-19 mess lifts, I am dedicating my 2020 to get back to Africa even if only for a few days.
