Friday Link List
1. Summer is almost over! How can that be? I want to sneak in a batch of peach sangria before it gets too cold.
2. I don't have a cat, but if I did ... I would be very tempted to get a cat tipi.
3. This list of all the outdoor summer movie screenings in NYC is so useful. I wish I had found this in the beginning of the summer.
4. Not that I need any more notebooks, but the kaleidoscopic pattern on this one caught my eye.
5. Quite like the minimalist design work of LA-based Alice Sung.
6. Scouted.in is a new website that features city guides from creative New Yorkers.
7. Jill DeHaan's hand-drawn typography is really beautiful.
8. Monette and Mady Malroux are identical twins who always dress alike.
9. I've been wanting to try making marbled paper -- like in this project from Ella Zheng.
The New York Times now has animated shorts for its Modern Love column! Awesome!
New artwork for The Wild Honey Pie! Click to watch/listen!

I wish there were subtitles on this, but I love the illustration & the way this is animated: Les poings sur les iles (via it's nice that)
This morning I went to a CreativeMornings event on Governor's Island -- they're always worth going to & just so inspiring!
Silly dummy copy at Meet the Ipsums. My favorite is Bluth Ipsum, because adding an Arrested Development reference to anything makes it better.
I always lose my keys inside my apartment; the tile app sounds incredibly useful.
beer + animation = beer labels in motion.
Daily Routines shares little day-to-day anecdotes of writers/creative people & is also now a book.
Wow. Book covers (pain-stakingly) recreated in paper.
Custom photoshop brushes by Kyle T Webster. Must try.
Very happy to share this image of our new issue - Wrap 8 ‘New Horizons’. The cover is by the mega-talented Martin Nicolausson, and our theme is travel, journeys and creative progression.
Order your copy HERE ~ the first 200 will receive a brilliant FREE print by Martin.
I always love all the artists featured in this magazine. Must pick up a copy somewhere.
Just came across a podcast by Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge with lots of interviews with different creatives: After the Jump. I listened to the one with fantastic illustrator Chris Silas Neal -- awesome!
This is what I want to be like when I grow up.
"Hal Lasko, better known as Grandpa, worked as a graphic artist back when everything was done by hand. His family introduced him to the computer and Microsoft Paint long after he retired.
Now, Grandpa spends ten hours a day moving pixels around his computer paintings. His work is a blend of pointillism and 8-Bit art."
More music! New cover by Geographer, yay!
Been listening to The Love Language's new album all day. I saw them play a few years ago ... their vocal harmonies reminded me of The Beach Boys at the time. This track though reminds me of the Arcade Fire. Comparisons aside, I think this is worth a listen.
Here's the new trailer I cut for Anthology Magazine!
"You shouldn't be looking for your own personal artistic satisfaction from client work." & other good insights.

1. Love the webdesign & photography of UK-based Food&_.
2. There is a children's book exhibit at the New York Public Library right now.
3. This Sunday is National Ice Cream day. Also, interesting ice creams around the world. (Tiger beer? Halva? Awesome!)
4. Illustrated Paris Couture diary by Konstantin Kakanias (aka Mrs. Tependris).
5. Ella Fitzgerald's "Too Darn Hot", remixed.
6. Watch live cams of animals around the world on explore.org. Today they're featuring a puffin burrow.
7. Pure Breeds: a new webseries from the Shit Girls Say creator.
8. Lovely/fun poster design for the Pitchfork Music Festival by Tim Lahan.
9. Tokyo-based illustrator Yuki Kitazumi's loose, carefree illustrations make me want to go outside and sketch.
I love the work of Italian-born/Iceland-based illustrator Elisa Vendramin; I found her portfolio thru behance. She makes incredibly detailed collages -- they look like a mix of digital and handmade elements ... the overall compositions look so minimal, but you can tell these must have taken a lot of time to get all the details just right.
The pattern on this fridge reminds me of The Shining. Right?!

Everything in this video is carefully orchestrated, while Phoenix is just Trying To Be Cool. Clever, clever. (via The Fox Is Black)
Maybe there will be another season of Arrested Development?!
In A World ... I kind of really want to see this movie. It's out in September.
Episode two of The Better Half is up! So proud of my friends Christine Ng & Leyla Perez for making this project happen! This ep is even better than the last.
I've been really intrigued by Jessica Walsh & Timothy Goodman's 40 Days of Dating Project.
I keep checking back on The Veda House blog -- I like her tidbits about freelancing & design.
Marbled textures work wonders on these snakes.
