Hello followers. (Yes, all 7? of you)
It is not a coincidence that I disappeared from tumblr pretty much as soon as I got a girlfriend. She’s great, it’s all going great. We totally failed to take it slow, which is mostly our fault, but also kinda down to The Universe, and my mother, who both appear to be on our side:
My girlfriend and I's ages are almost exactly the same as her parents were when they met (and it's not that common a combo)
Despite massive differences in where and how we were brought up, we have a lot of compatibility and shared worldview n all those important things
My mother made a green card joke to me a grand total of 10 weeks into the relationship (gf is here on a visa). (gf and I are now making green card jokes)
And finally, the most egregious sign from the universe: Gf is in the process of updating her wardrobe to be more femme. I found some old clothes and jewellery whilst tidying, that I thought I'd offer her instead of taking to the charity shop. One item being a ring I'd made a decade ago by tying a broken violin string around my finger - pretty sure it's the only ring I own. Well, the only finger of hers it fits, is her left ring finger.
If this was a tv show, or perhaps a tumblr myth, we'd've been down the registry office before you could say 'coincidence??'. We are being sensible and just making jokes about it for now. But if things do pan out long term, I guess I have her ring size, and a very good story to tell our future cats.
