Favourite Episode: The French Mistake
Victor and Benji in Love, Victor (2020-)
gifted kid burnout things that no one seems to talk about:
the raw panic of hearing about your potential, positive or negative
a weird brand of imposter syndrome where you genuinely think you’ve fluked your way through every success and you’re gonna be Exposed as a Fraud
never having learned how to study and having no idea where to start now that you need to
reading college level books as a kid but being basically illiterate now
dismissing your struggles as irrelevant because other people have it harder and i should be smart enough to handle this
feeling like you’ve lost all control over your life (maybe manifesting into depression, anxiety and disordered eating in a grasp for control over something)
being unable to decide on a career path because you could have had everything, only to watch those opportunities disappear as you fail to commit
Peaking early and feeling like an eternal failure ever since
Remembering what it felt like to be motivated and at the top of your game and you could do ten things at once and cared so much, but now it’s a struggle to keep up with anything
~depression~
~functional depression~ so you feel like you are faking it
Holding a mediocre job and feeling unfulfilled but feeling like you aren’t good enough to do anything else
Being book smart but struggles with social skills and communication with others.
Feeling like you are the worst person on earth for making a mistake or not knowing something
Feeling perpetually stuck and like you’re not going anywhere because you’re used to moving and growing so quickly that if you slow down for even a single point you feel like you’re hitting a brick wall and what’s the point of trying when you don’t improve
Adding onto the fraud point; you know you can do it, hell you’ve even done harder subject matter and thrived while doing it, so why can’t you do this one super specific thing that should be easy for you
You do well in something you like, but a peer does better, and they’re clearly smarter and more talented and what’s the point anymore if there’s someone strictly better? It’s not like anyone’s gonna care about your aptitude for it when there’s someone else to fawn over everytime they succeed.
Constantly feeling like you could get replaced at anytime. For everything and anything.
You did well in this subject in the past, and now you can’t, and you keep screwing up in it despite how much and how hard you try. Fast forward a month or two and now you can’t even think about the subject without a panic attack.
“Oh no, I screwed up. I’m worthless. No-one’s gonna want me around anymore.”
Feeling like you’re destined to be stuck in place forever while everyone else moves on with their lives and passions and you’re just here in the same place forever and ever and ever
THE CONSTANT FEAR OF FAILURE IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BECAUSE OF HOW CLOSELY IT LINKS TO THE FEELING OF USELESSNESS.
LB2 tomorrow, which means we’ve only got a a few days until Skadi arrives and bankrupts the entire NA playerbase.

Blackbird was inspired by the racial tensions that exploded in the US on spring 1968 as a symbolic way to support the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement. McCartney underlined also that “bird” is a British slang often used for “girl”, which would make “blackbird” become “black girl”. This lexical escamotage combined with the events back in 1960s seem to refer to Rosa Parks, a black woman who, while on a bus, refused to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled; she later become “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”.
Anyway, this song is so deep and at the same time so metaphoric that it can be used as a song of freedom in any circumstances. It sings that even if your not free, if you live in darkness, if your wings are broken and your eyes sunken, you should always try to arise, fly and follow the light that even in the darkest night shines.

Some tips for those of you who are protesting just to stay safe. Please remember to cover all of your tattoos, piercings, and really any recognizable features you may have. Turn your location off so no one can track you and have atleast two written emergency contacts.
If the police begin utalizing tear gas use a combination of 50% water and 50% Maalox/liquid antacid).
For pepper spray use dawn dish soap and water, vegetable oil, or milk in a spray bottle.
***edit: please feel free to add more tips and make sure to read the comments for helpful additions!
Know your rights.
While people are inclined to whip out their phones and film when they see something alarming happening, those videos are not always recorded in a way that can be used as evidence in a legal proceeding or to support advocacy tactics.
At the human rights organization WITNESS, where I work as the senior U.S. program coordinator, we’ve learned that video has a greater chance of making an impact when it’s filmed ethically and strategically, and released in coordination with advocacy and legal efforts. Using the camera in your pocket can be a valuable way to ensure the world bears witness to abusive policing and systemic racism, help hold authorities accountable, and advocate for the real safety of our communities.
