I heard the Bee Gees in the grocery store this morning, and the switch has been flipped. I now need to listen to the Bee Gees. A lot.

You may think you're too cool for the Bee Gees. You are not too cool for the Bee Gees.

If all you know about them is disco stereotypes, I invite you to look a little further. Also, to give in to just thoroughly enjoying the disco stuff, because it is SO fun. And listen to their voices. Those three guys have some of the best harmonies in any music, ever.

And they've written songs for tons of other artists, so look into that, too.

So, in a nutshell, the Bee Gees are amazing.

The song that set me off on this Bee Gees trip this morning was Tragedy. (Did I dance in the cereal aisle? Possibly...). So I'm sharing that one, plus (Bee Gees bonus!) what is possibly my very favorite song of theirs, One.

Time for something super fun and super classic.

I Just Called To Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder. You can't get much more fun and classic than that.

I remember trying to memorize it when I was a kid, and always forgetting the lines about the summer months. Random fun fact for you there.

The Song In My Head, part 249

Sara Bareilles has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard. She can belt out with all of the power, literally all of it, and a breath later be crooning the softest, most heart wrenching secrets of the soul.

There's a song she did for the musical Waitress (which I haven't seen, but I have seen the movie it's based on, and I liked that) called She Used To Be Mine, which completely wrecks me, and I love it.

The Song In My Head, part 248

Jem! Jem is excitement! Ooh, Jem! Jem is adventure! Ooh!

Come on, you know you want to sing it. The Jem theme song is one of the best cartoon theme songs ever, and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Anyway, so yeah, I grew up watching the Jem cartoon, and I will still watch it sometimes and still love it, even though I yell at it a lot. Mostly at Rio. (Why is he such a dummy?!) And at the fact that the Misfits never get arrested for attempted murder.

But THEN they made a live action movie of it! And I thought that it couldn't possibly be any good. But I eventually had to watch it so I could see what they did to it.

And I like it! It's so fun, and the music in it is actually pretty darn good, and it has a lot of really cool little respectful nods to the cartoon. And I don't yell at it nearly as much. Rio is actually not stupid in it, which is so great.

The song that is used for the big triumphant finale concert at the end is called I'm Still Here. It is decidedly triumphant.

And THEN, in the coolest post closing credits bonus scene that has ever existed, Kesha shows up as Pizzazz and it is - quite appropriately - truly, truly, truly outrageous.

And kind of makes me want them to make a sequel.

I love Paul Simon's Graceland album. The whole thing. Every single song. Among all of the awesomeness on this album is You Can Call Me Al.

If you haven't seen the video for You Can Call Me Al, go watch it. It's so fun! Chevy Chase is in it - you couldn't ask for much more fun than that.

I had heard of H.E.R. a while ago, but hadn't followed up to listen to her music. A few days ago I got to hear some of her music live, and her voice is uh-maze-ing.

She's also very nice. But that's another story.

Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves by Aretha Franklin and Annie Lennox (technically by the Eurythmics, so Dave Stewart is awesome, too).

I love when beautiful songs and beautiful movies coexist.

Unexpectedly beautiful songs and unexpectedly beautiful movies are even better.

Kubo and the Two Strings is quite possibly the most visually beautiful movie I've ever seen. And over the closing credits plays Regina Spektor (who I love) singing While My Guitar Gently Weeps (which I love).

Her voice singing that song is amazing.

Today I rewatched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves for the first time in a very, very long time, and was reminded how absolutely excellent a movie it is.

It is so absolutely excellent!

In my opinion it has the best movie theme song ever with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams. That song absolutely guts me. In a good way.

It also has possibly the best movie villain ever with Alan Rickman playing a delightfully unhinged Sheriff of Nottingham. Who literally guts people. Though not with a spoon.

I love subtle movie references. :)

So, I moved. Yea! Across the country, no less, so I am feeling very accomplished. And very tired. And ready to get back to sharing the songs in my head. Yea!

My #1 album to listen to on road trips is Tom Petty's Wildflowers. It is the first thing I listen to whenever I start out for a day of driving, so it was my constant companion over the last five days.

So here's a little Tom Petty Wildflowers twofer to get us back into the swing of things.

First, the title track. "You belong somewhere you feel free." Absolutely.

Second, Time To Move On. "What lies ahead I have no way of knowing." Absolutely.

It also makes me try to sing along in a super high voice. My voice can't go as high as his, though.
