I’ve rec’d this one before, I know. It needs to be kept in my definitive compilation.

Into a Light by tosca1390 Even if he couldn’t give her anything, and even if they were never what everyone thought they should be, she could still give him this last present. A place to come home to. Ginny and Harry don’t fall easily back into each other, and Ginny has no idea what her future is. So she falls into making Grimmauld Place liveable for him.

So lovely. Great Ginny and great Harry falling apart without any melodrama.

Since her youth, Cersei has been commodified and objectified by nearly everyone around her. Losing her mother at age four, her closest points of reference were Tywin and her brothers. Therefore, the primary understanding she has of herself is through the men around her. […] When Tywin orders her to marry Loras Tyrell, her face first lights in anger as she informs her father that she is the Queen Regent and not some broodmare for him to marry off. Seconds later, it dissolves into a desperate sort of sadness as she begs him, “Father, don’t make me do it again please.” 

It is hard for me to understand how someone could fail to see the complexities of Cersei’s character. She has never been the sort of one-dimensional sociopath that Ramsay Bolton was, even her most horrible acts have been motivated by her desire to protect both her children and herself at all costs. Many of the shows fan-favorite characters have committed similarly murderous acts, yet they remain beloved because their motivations are understood as more sympathetic than Cersei’s. Even her twin brother Jaime, who is similar to her in almost every way, is seen as a much more redeemable and loved a character than she is. Cersei, of course, has understood these double standards her entire life and sees how things fall around her differently because of her gender. (x)

This scene gets to me. As usual, Lena Headey adds so much understanding to the moment and the character than was ever intended. Because of it, you cannot help but feel for her at times like these.

Her backstory positions her on the surface as an intensely relatable character. She’s in love with the prince and marries the king. The king who loves a dead girl and hates her, smacks her, whores around on her to disgrace her. Her first real sense of agency is her poisoning him. If we look from her POV, that’s her moment of liberation. Of course, it’s also murder, kingslaying, and sends the 7K into a tailspin.

At her best, she functions as a warning about how we respond to injustices. The series is never more terrifying to me when I find myself nodding my head agreeing with Cersei Lannister. Far before Dany, Cersei’s narrative forces you to look in the mirror. In a cruel world, do you look at cruelty in the face and arm yourself with the same? Do you allow that cruelty to change you? To turn yourself into the very monster taking pounds of flesh as the one that took yours?

Sansa is the direct counter to Cersei. Because despite coming face to face with cruelty at every turn, she makes a choice to do better. She looks at monsters and learns what not to do, what not to be. While Cersei is the warning, Sansa is the inspiration.

In the middle of this is Dany and Arya. They are both faced with choices in 805. To exact revenge at the expense of losing themselves.

Dany had a choice. She ultimately chose to become the monster to defeat the monster.

Arya turned around.

talk to me about namjin and how underrated their actual dynamic of looks shy but actually confident gay! namjoon with big talk but actually panic gay! seokjin! please!

it is HUMILIATING how we've been so wrong with namjin's whole dynamics, we all used to think that namjoon is the introverted shy one, while seokjin is this confident loud extroverted gay but turns out it's the other way around!!!

how come we've missed all this? God let me tell you why, Kim seokjin is selfless af he'd literally do the things that make him uncomfortable just for the sake of making things better for his bandmates, he literally went all out of his comfort zone, being shameless, joking around, just so that his boys would feel comfort whenever they're nervous (ex: namjoon always asking jin to be next to him whenever they're in america)

I think we all kinda get blindsided, we thought namjoon is the introverted one because he likes the typical things that introverts have been stereotyped to like (reading books alone, surrounded by natures, not to mention we rarely see namjoon hanging out with friends other than bts, I'm guessing that he has tons of good friends but they're not famous so we dont really know them) while seokjin's hobbies fit those of the stereotypical extroverts

sometimes I still feel guilty for thinking that namjoon's the shy one huhuhu

But can you imagine though? Seokjin being all nervous and quiet the first time bangtan is formed and namjoon is literally the one who brings him out of his shell? To help seokjin whenever he feels uncomfortable, when he feels suffocated with all the pressure and attention, when he's nervous??? Namjoon is always there

And when namjoon is stressed with all the pressure and burden of fame? Of having to carry the entire group to this success? He's overwhelmed and he's scared, but seokjin with his subtle and attentive actions, making small jokes here and there in interviews just to ensure namjoon that he's with him too, that he's not going anywhere, maybe in the late nights when the kids are all asleep, seokjin with cradle namjoon's head to his lap and just let this boy- who has been nothing but kind to him- pour all his fears and frustration out, maybe seokjin will whisper small words of comfort as he strokes namjoon's hair to sleep

and when that one dreadful time comes, where seokjin just couldn't be Jin for one day, when seokjin shies away from all those attention and just wants to retrieve home and be with himself, namjoon will hold his hand and tells him that he's get seokjin too
