Jeremiah Hudson, seventeen year old chain smoker. Never had much, never wanted much. just to have fun and do what he could along the way. the motor roars, and the smoke burns his lungs and stings his eyes, but breathes deeply. Death || OS

That's it, the cannon shooting across the arena that I knew was mine. I thought it could've been someone else's but as I heard it the pain flooded away. The sight of the red headed girl was gone, and the smoke pouring from my lungs disappeared.

I stood up. No longer underground. No longer in the arena or the Capital. I was standing in an open field with nothing around me. The sun blared down on my skin, and I felt no pain. I felt no sorrow. A girl approached me clutching her mouth, with tears in her eyes. It was Sabine. 

I ran to her and wrapped my arms around her body and we both sunk to the ground. "Im sorry Jeremiah, I'm so sorry." She whispered between chocking cries. Soon I felt  tears form in mine. I placed my hand on the back of her head and rested her temple on my shoulder. As i placed my chin on the top of her head, as I did so many times, I smiled.

I didn't cry for myself, not for my death like Sabine did, but for her. I missed her with every inch of my body and had to fight through the desire to give up since seeing her  beautiful face in the sky that night in the arena. "Don't be sorry Sabine, we're together again." I said still clutching her in my arms feeling our bodies weep as one. "We're safe, you're safe. They can't reach us anymore, they can't hurt us." I said.

It was funny, even after death I was still holding her together, and I'm so happy to. She looked up at me and smiled, holding my face in her hands blinking the tears away. "I love you, I love you Jeremiah and Im so sorry i couldn't say it sooner." She started as the water threatened to flood her eyes again. 

I wiped them away with my thumbs taking her head in my hands now and placing a soft kiss on her lips. "I love you too Sabine." I answered the trembling girl. A grin overtook her face and it bounced to mine. She rested her head on my chest as she held me tighter. I did the same, burrowing my face into her neck.

We sat together, engulfed in each other for who knows how long. I suppose it doesn't matter anymore. With the breeze of a timeless future and the warmth of the authentic sun above us. Theres no time to run out now.

ARENA DAY 4

Location: In some mother fucking hole

Allies: none anymore, I guess

Weapons: hand sickle, dagger, metal spear, 2 hand axes, and a nice heavy golf club.

Items: A lighter, 2 smoke bombs, A flashlight, 1 morphling tablet (from mini-cornucpoia), And a key to my golf cart ;_;

Injuries: Spotless bitch!

Notes: Kineos, Joule and I were walking around looking for some water or a nice place to set a trap when a mother fucking hole opened up under each os us. I have no idea where they went but I guess this means I'm anole and the Gamemakers are getting restless.

Now I'm in some dirty ass hole and theres nowhere to go but to follow that big ass rodent down this tunnel.

I shrugged. “We had those sandwiches earlier, so we’re really fine, Kineos. And besides, it was for you.” I said as we rolled to a stop in front of the clubhouse.

It took me a little longer to reach the door, but when I did, I fished the key out of my pocket with a wide smile. “Since I’ve got the key, I suppose I’ll do it.” I said, winking with a grin to reassure them that I was just messing around.

The key turned in the lock with a click. Taking a deep breath, I turned the knob and pushed the door open.

As the door is pushed open, frigid cold air swamps out to greet you. It feels like someone has left the air conditioner on but there’s no way of changing that fact. On the floor are a couple of wrappers with the Capitol insignia on them but they mean nothing. You can choose to explore the staff quarters, the bathroom or the dining/bar room.

Joule pushed open the door and Kineos and I followed behind her. I felt a wave of icy wind push through the door and pass over us. It was kind of nice but too much to soon.

"Shit man!" I shouted as we entered the room. we walked over the wrappers and looked around the room to see a couple of doors. there was a set of bathrooms, a door marked staff quarters and a large opening that led into what looks like a bar room.

"Lets go for the staff quarters" I suggest as look at my two allies who don't object. They shake their heads in agreement and walk over to the safe quarters, and enter the room.

I looked at the note again and shrugged “it mentions Zeke but I’m not sure of the name. It could be his mentor maybe? I’m not sure why his mentor would sponsor us though.” I shrugged again and then smiled “I promised him that my next kill would be with my fists since he was a fighter and his would be a knife. This was while we were in training.”

I grew silent for a moment and thought of our times in the Captiol, it seemed so long ago. I have grown to miss those times. I put the other flashlight in my pack and handed them the soup, “You guys need these more than me.”

Turning back to look out behind us, a frowned when he mentioned killing with his bare hands. The idea alone was nauseating. I couldn’t imagine doing something like that. Feeling someone die at your hands, literally by your hands, sounded absolutely horrible.

I shook my head. “You should eat too. I’m feeling a lot better since I put the medicine on, and I had that sandwich. Could I just have one of the scones in your bag? I have no doubt it’s stale as anything, but I’ve always liked strawberries.” With the days ticking off, it was best to use what we could before the next fight.

I too denied Kineos' offer this time. This was his food and he should eat too. "You eat, I'm driving sir thats just not safe." I stated watching the tress in front of me.

Just then we shot out of the trees and onto hole 1. With the clubhouse in sight, I headed straight for it. "You guys ready for whats inside?"

I shrugged at what Joule was saying “I don’t really believe in jinxing stuff really.” Just as I said that I heard a beep above my head and I looked out of the golf cart and saw a parachute coming down from the sky and headed towards us. “Jeremiah, over there!” He quickly turned the golf cart and I caught the parachute as it was coming down from the sky. I opened it up and smiled there was a note and it mentioned Zeke. I didn’t get to say my goodbye at all, I had betrayed him and I nodded “I will make sure we hold up our deal, next person I kill will be with my hands.” I thought to myself.

I picked out the items, some flashlights, a lighter, and two cans of soup. “Not a bad haul. Hey Joule, have this lighter, you’re the only one without a way to light something.” I handed it to her and shrugged “We can use these flashlights for something, I guess for the club if there isn’t any light.” I gave them a small smile and then looked up and just gave a small nod. “Thank you.”

I turned at the sound of Kineos instructing Jeremiah to change course, my eyebrows shooting up as I saw a parachute floating down. He opened it, and I watched as he read through the note, before holding up the items. Flashlights, soups, and a lighter. “Who sent you that?” Did that mean he had a sponsor? And if so, why did they only send something now?

"Thanks." Accepting the lighter, I examined it, before tucking it into my pocket. While I wasn’t sure why I would need a lighter, it definitely couldn’t hurt to have one on hand. "If we had a gum wrapper, we could use the batteries as a lighter." I stated off handedly. It was a trick Pascal had taught me, not that it mattered, since I now had a handy dandy lighter in my pocket.

I was surprised at the sight of the parachute. It was for Kineos. It was already day 4, I don't hunk it could've been a sponsor gift this late in the Games. He opened it and it mentioned Zeke.

I tried not to react at the sight of the tributes name that I killed myself. He was Kineos' friend and he was mine too,  but it was not something I expected. "Wow, thats pretty amazing Kineos" I said looking at the flashlight kineos handed me. I felt strange accepting it but I took it out of curtsy to Kineos. I knew it was hard for him. "Thanks." I said looking over at him with an empathetic smile.

I saw Joule’s and Jeremiah’s wounds close up and I was amazed “Holy crap that stuff is amazing. I wonder what they use for that! I have got to get my hands on some of that stuff.” I was still amazed at it and then they mentioned going to the clubhouse. 

I shrugged and looked at them “Cap, you’re the one driving so take us there, we got to be careful though. We don’t know what or who is in there, a good place to hold up for the day actually.” We began to eat some food and I drank some of the tea and offered it to them “IF you guys want anything, let me know.”

I grinned, looking down in my leg. “I have no earthly clue what they put into that cream, but it works wonders.” The cut in my shin had gone from a nasty looking deep gash, to a shallow, albeit still tender, cut. I couldn’t hold in my sigh of relief as I put my weight on my leg, feeling only a fraction of the pain I had felt earlier.

Taking a swig of the canteen, I propped up my leg on my seat, accepting a sandwich from Kineos. “There has to be something in there, right? I mean, why else would they give us a key.” Unless it was a trap, of course. But between the three of us, we could probably take anything on.

We finished eating and I started Sheila back up and pulled out of the tree line and started heading north towards the clubhouse. I didn't know what would be there waiting for us. if it'd be bad or good but why not check it out.

As we drove up hole 7, I threw that bloody piece of my sleeve into the sand pit as we passed it. I watched it sink down and grinned that I didn't need it anymore. Lucky me.

We got to the little cornucopia and nobody was there, interesting. “I’m surprised nobody is here, they must of went to the other ones or not have as many injuries as us.” They treated their wounds and I sat and watched to see if anyone was coming.

I looked at Jeremiah and Joule when they said that. “I wouldn’t see why we couldn’t do that, anyone know how to actually swing one of these?” I ask as I picked up one of the golf clubs and looked at them “I have never swung one.” 

I looked at the food and then back at them “It’s better to get it to go. We don’t know if anyone will be here soon, hide in the forest and then eat up? We do need our energy.”

I was overjoyed when I saw that there was no one at the cornucopia, I wanted to jump up and down celebrating. Instead, I limped over to the tube of cream my eyes locked onto immediately, removing the bandages and spreading a generous amount on my leg, careful to leave at least 1/2 or the tube full. It burned, but the pain was nothing compared to the last few days. 

The idea that no one else needed healing cream was bothersome, but I didn’t worry on it too much as I watched the cut begin to close up. While it wasn’t all the way healed, it definitely looked and felt better. Still, I kept the brace on, just in case, wanting to give it as much time as possible to heal up.

Picking up the small key on the table, I held it up to the light, examining the small piece of metal. “I agree. We should grab the stuff and go. But we should eat first, just to get our strength up incase someone comes.” I tucked the key into my pocket. “Maybe we head up to the club house. We’ve got the key, after all.”

I watced as Joules wound closed up nicely then looked down at my arm. The skin was pulling together and sealing itself. My cut was not as deep as Joule's so it was as if it were a scratch, like the ones on my arm and leg. "Holy fucking shit!" I hollered as I poked and pushed at the mark and felt very little pain. "Well that was just fucking amazing"

I looked around to see if there were still anyone yet to come. I saw nothing and heard even less. We were definitely alone. The elation flooded my system as I fell back into the cart after loading her up with food and morphling and golf clubs.

We drove off to the side of the hole and parked just inside the trees under the shade of the canopy. We began to eat and the feeling of food in my stomach was perfection. "I'm down to head up there, see whats hidden." I said with a smile.

I heard Nausicaa’s voice and smiled, a feast would be good for us right now honestly. We needed to patch each other up more and then we could go out and kill more. We were in the top 9, from the fallen yesterday and I was pretty excited for it. Joule mentioned going for it and i shrugged “Let’s go there!” I said with a smile and hoped in the cart with Jeremiah driving and Joule in the back laying down some more. 

We started to go south and I looked at them “We have got to be careful, Joule won’t survive another fight like that okay. We get there, we get out. We will distract the people long enough for one of us to get a pack and we leave quickly.” I looked at both of them and nodded “Let’s hope there is nobody there.” Jeremiah mentioned playing golf and I laughed “Never played the game honestly. If it is anything like this, I don’t want to.”

The drive back down was relatively uneventful, and I was surprised that we hadn’t run into anyone else. Thankful, but surprised. Until we grabbed that healing cream, I was useless, and Jeremiah was still a bit beat up as well.

I smiled slightly at his joke. “I haven’t either. And what will we use as a golf ball? Maybe the smoke bombs?” A better use of the bulbs would be as weapons. That was probably why they were included. Fuck, the GameMakers had a sick sense of humor. Though that was hardly new news.

"I don’t see anyone heading our way, but it’s possible they could be coming up from the south. If there’s people down there already, I think we should have a game plan." I tried to keep the nervousness out of my voice.

We arrived to the little cornucopia and Joule grabbed the healing cream and slathered it on her wound before tossing the tube to me. I squeezed out a bit on my fingers and undid the belt on my arm. I rubbed it into the gash, my eyes began to water at the pain, but it dissipated rather quickly.

"Id love nothing more than to smack someone in the face with a smoke bomb via golf club."  I said with a grin. Joule and I each took two of the smoke bombs, since Kineos still had a few in the pack he got at the bloodbath.

"Do you guys want to have some breakfast now, or save some for later?" I asked gesturing to the food on the table.

Waking to the sound of Nausicaa’s voice ringing out over the arena, my heart sped up with anticipation. There was to be a ‘feast’ of sorts, and all we needed to do what get there first. There’d be food, supplied, maybe even medicine. Glancing down and my leg, I grimaced. It was looking a lot better, but the opportunity of getting it healed was too good to pass up.

"Guys! We need to get moving. Cap, start the cart." I could barely contain my excitement. "They said there’s one near hole 4 that’s got medication, and I say we go for it." Leaning on the spear, I moved as quickly as I could to the cart, settling on the back bench.

We were down to nine left. Even if there were alliances left, with a group of three, we posed the largest threat. As we started driving, I scanned our surroundings, looking for anyone else who might be headed in the same direction we were moving in.

I cringed at the sound of Nausicaa's voice. remembering the punishment she put me through the day before the scavenger hunt. Hard to believe that was only a few days ago. I snapped out of my little daze and rushed to the cart alongside joule. She was right and I was going to that feast no matter what. "Fuck yea we're going for it." I announced.

We hopped in, Kineos to my right and raced southward towards hole 4. She said there'd be healing cream. The wound on my arm is nice and clean but its still too deep to remain that way. Id need stitches or luckily some magic cream. 

"Maybe once we get there we could play a round of golf." I said with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

ARENA DAY 3

Location: Between holes 5 and 6

Allies: Joule, Kineos, and Sheila

Weapons: hand sickle, dagger, 2 hand axes, Metal spear

Injuries: Shallow cut on upper left arm (Almost fully healed) Deep gash on left forearm (cleaned, re-bandaged, and healing nicely ,  Shallow cut on right thigh (clean and healing)

Notes: Nothing eventful happened to our little alliance. We were forced to move from a real bitch of a storm that turned into a tornado. We fled northward and settled down in the trees east of hole 5.

I laid out my socks shoes and bandages out in the sun to dry off once it stopped pouring so I can keep myself safe and comfortable.

Joule came out of the woods and I nodded my head and grinned “Not that bad Miss Alvarez, not bad at fucking all. You should start modeling for the Capitol or be a designer. Outfits, survival editions!” I looked at it up and down and nodded “That’s fucking amazing. If the bone was broken we would of known a while ago because you wouldn’t of been able to really walk on it honestly.” This girl was smart. “How mobile are you in it?” 

I looked at Jeremiah as he spoke and then looked down. “It doesn’t matter to me who the first J is because I’m the one in the middle that holds us together.” I said with a laugh. “Jeremiah, you know you’re kind of the leader of our group here.”

I grinned proudly at the praise of my little contraption. It was sloppy and kind of ugly, but it did the job, and I was proud of it. I laughed at Kineos’ comment. “You think? I bet everyone in the Capitol will be sporting a tree branch leg brace in no time.”

I took another few steps around. “I can’t bend my knee, but it’s better that way. When I move, the skin doesn’t pull as much and the pain is a bit less. It still hurt like a fucker, but not so much that I couldn’t walk, like earlier.

Settling down besides them, I scoffed. “Maybe, but I’m a lady, so I should be the first J. Ladies first and all that jazz.” I said, trying to lighten the mood.

The three of us sat in the sun and dried off as much as possible before returning to the gold cart hidden in the trees. The sun was starting to go down and we decided there was no point in moving today. Plus Joule and I wanted to heal up some more before getting into another fight.

Upon returning to Sheila, Joule sprawled out on the back seat, I took the key from the ignition and learned back in the drivers seat, and Kineos did the same next to me. "Tomorrows gonna be something else my dear allies." I announced as I felt the shackles of sleep slipping over me.

Joule was the first to pass out, and then me. Im sure Kineos will allow himself to sleep more tonight and I hope he does. We'll need all the rest we can get for tomorrow.

We backed up into the forest some and I smiled at Joule “You have a plan that I’m pretty damn excited to see. I’m thinking splint maybe?” I said with a shrug as she went off into the forest. “If you need anything yell and run okay. Well run to the best of your ability.” I said with a small laugh. 

I looked at Jeremiah and sat down right beside him. “At least you have shoes now buddy.” I said pointing at his shoes that he stole off of Zeke, surprised that they fit him. “Everything is looking up JKJ, well that’s what I want to call us.” I said with a shrug “Stands for Jeremiah, Kineos, and Joule.”

Using the spear as a crutch, I hobbled to the treeline. The cut was looking better, but still very sore. Because it was so so close to my knee, I figured I ould try and create something of a brace to help divert some of my weight off of the damaged area.

Cutting down some low branches, I pulled the twine from my pocket, electing to leave the bit of rope i still had alone for now. Finding an especially bendy branch, along with two straighter and sturdier branches, I tied the bendy branch tightly around my thigh, just above the knee, leaving enough room for the two sturdy branches, one on either side of my leg. 

Finding another two more bendy branches, I twisted one around my ankle and foot and the other around the middle of my shin, just above my wound, securing them to the two branches. Carefully I tried to rest more of my weight on the my injured leg. While it still hurt like a bitch, the branches caught a lot of the weight, diverting it down to my ankle and foot.

Limping back over to the boys, I smiled widely. “Ta da! It’s a leg brace; survival addition, of course! I don’t think the bone’s broken, but it helps me from bending my knee and pulling at the would, as well as lessening the stress on my knee and shin.”

The warmth of the sun against my skin and wound felt amazing. It was relaxing and the damp uncomfortable feelings fled my system. I flipped my socks so the other side was now face up and bean to dry.

Joule emerged from the woods and I noticed a mess of wood on her injured leg. I bursted out laughing. "Oh my god Joule that is amazing! " I said with a grin that stretched across my whole face. "Jesus christ, toss me your shoes let them dry." I added still smiling.

I looked over a Kineos to see how he was looking. He seemed alright but I could tell the death of his friends was still fresh in his memories. as it was in all of ours, but I know it hurt him most. "JKJ, sounds great. but I'm the first J." I say looking over at Joule with squinted eyes.

Is this Happening? || JKJ || Day 3

I smiled as the rain started to hold up “That was a gift from the fucking gods honestly.” I smiled more and looked at my allies and then it hit me hard, these people were dying in front of my eyes and there was nothing I could do. If we go in another fight, they would most likely die. Joule was in terrible shape and Jeremiah wasn’t in much better. I looked down and away from these guys for a little bit. 

We headed towards hole 5 and Jeremiah spoke up. “Maybe if we got on our hands and knees and begged.” I said with a laugh. “Maybe we could sew Joule back up and be on our way.” I looked back at her “Still feeling alright?”

I gave a weak smile at his comment. “At least my leg is all cleaned out again.” That storm was clearly a creation of the GameMakers, and I had no doubt their little stint with the rain had ensured the death of a few more tributes. Hopefully we wouldn’t be next on the list. 

"I’m alright. Though I doubt that will get much of a response from anyone. Actually, I have an idea for my leg when we stop. If we stay in the tree line, we can stay out of sight and I can work out my idea." I still had half of the rope in perfect condition, and most of the other half’s fibers that I could use for my idea.

We arrived on the green on hole 5 and I pulled into the tree line on the east end. Trying to stay hidden I backed Sheila up into the wood.

"Joule, by all means, get to work on this idea." I said ready to assist if she needed. Again I un-bandaged my wound and set the belt and strip of cloth aside. I wanted to let my flesh dry off.If it remained wet I could get an infection and then there'd be no hope for me.

Sitting on the very edge of the tree line and laying down I rested my arm in the rays of the sun. My wound facing upward. The heat against it made it tingle in a painless way. I layer my piece of sleeve out in the sun next to me so it dries as well. Along with my shoes and socks. Everything needed to be dry to ensure the best conditions for my body.

I looked up to watch and see what Joule had planned for herself.
