“Honestly, if it’d stop me from running into past students, I’d do it.” He liked how calming the other was being, making Jeremy feel better about everything. “Okay.. okay that sounds great, actually. Thanks. For all of this.”

“No, we’re definitely going out somewhere. I didn’t say where, but you assumed all I do is party these days. While I’m flattered, because honestly, I am a fucking catch and a half,” he mused snorting out a quiet laugh, “But we’re gonna go get some hot dogs. I know, not nearly as exciting. But I think going for a walk will do you good and you can tell me what’s going on,” he said, getting up from his chair and walking to pull on a jacket. “I’ve got a big game tomorrow, so a walk will do me good, too,” he mused. Maybe they could get coffee or hot cocoa while they were out, but Jeremy needed to distract himself. Sitting around the apartment moping was out of the question in Matt’s mind.

“Is that not what you do? I imagine the sports industry is all strippers and cocaine.” Jeremy said loudly, clearly teasing the other. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but also if you’re not willing to tell me, just stay quiet. I’ll know you’re telling the truth no matter what.” He looked over at the other with a slight frown. “I.. and your food of choice is hotdogs. Wow.” He couldn’t stop himself from being a bit of a sarcastic asshole around his long-time friend, a side of him that was rare for others to see. “Who are you playing? And do coaches get nervous like the players do too?” he mused, following the other outside.

I now realize how dumb it was.” Derek gave the man a smile of his own, widening once he got  a better view of just how gorgeous he was. “Yeah, don’t sweat it. I’m a listener so rant on, babe. Just don’t mind about 90% of the shit that comes out of my mouth though.”

Jeremy gave the man a soft, shy smile. “Oh. Um, yeah, okay you don’t have to.. but I appreciate the thought or attempt to make me smile. I don’t.. I don’t know you might kind of be wasting the attempt away with me. There’s plenty of other guys here.. who are way better looking than I am.” He laughed softly once more, shaking the ice in his empty glass. “Oh yeah? Like what?”

“Well if you’re signing me up to go with you then i’m gonna need you to stick by me most of the night. Not many people in town I know.” He hummed as he went on. “We gotta get you back in the swing of things. I’ll pick you up and take you to one, okay?”

“Where we’re going you don’t have to know many people. In fact, it’s probably better to not know anyone,” Jeremy said, laughing softly. “Y-Yeah.. yeah alright. I’m sorry in advance though.. It’s going to probably be a mess.”

“Okay, so… Youuu’ve had a long face all week, and I’m not vibing with it anymore. We’re gonna go out somewhere, and you’re gonna finally tell me what’s eating you, and not in the fun way. Maybe we can get someone to eat you at the end of the night, or I’ll do it myself,” Matt teased, raising his brows and smirking at Jeremy. Matt had grown up in Chicago his whole life, and met Jeremy in tenth grade. From then on, they continued to be friends. Their friendship even survived the strains of long distance when Matt was drafted to the LA Kings, and now that he was back, there was no holding them back. That meant that there was no way in hell he was going to let Jeremy just sit and mope without getting to the bottom of it.

Jeremy looked up from where he had been sitting, his hand drawing little shapes into the hard surface slowly. He hadn’t realized how sad he probably looked until he heard Matt’s voice, snapping out of it. “You’re.. not going to do that,” Jeremy huffed out an awkward laugh, shaking his head. “You’d break me and you know it. Actually, I think you’d enjoy that a little too much..” The teacher laughed again at the thought. “What.. what do you want to do, Matt? I don’t party.. I definitely don’t want to go out and party right now. What.. what else can we do?”

Casey: I understand that. It's difficult, but he must've had his reasons. And hopefully wherever he is, he's okay. It's still a jerky move, but I get it.

Casey: LOL Aww. Well, if you change your mind, you have like half an hour before I decide to do an avocado mint masque, and when that goes on, it's over.

Casey: But yes, you have friends that care about you. :)

Casey: I dunno, but that would've been really nice! Maybe I'll retire at a beach somewhere in Cali one day when I'm done with my interior designing endeavors.

Casey: Goddamnit! Now I have to live a life on the run. THANKS JER.

Casey: I'd sleep with one eye open if I were you.

Jeremy: Thank you for understanding and being so cool about this. I honestly don't know what I wanted or expected, but you've been really great.

Jeremy: You'd really want to spend your evening with me? Like this?

Jeremy: One day you'll be able to build your dream home by the water. That would be a dream.

Jeremy: Hey, it wasn't me. You're the one with the big mouth.

Casey: LOL No not actually. I'm from New York, so you'd THINK I should be used to all the cold, but... I was loving summer too much. 😭

Jeremy: It's too late, they've already got it filed away somewhere. Hate to say it, but you're kinda fucked.

Casey: Oh, no. I'm so sorry, honey. I remember you telling me a little bit about him and you were pretty excited.

Casey: Some people come and go, I suppose, but better now than later, right? Still, I know that hurts.

Casey: If you left for Greece tomorrow, I'd honestly be super impressed and highkey very jealous. I'm not ready for all this snow. Eww.

Casey: Maybe! Maybe that's just my disguise. Maybe I'm really a devil in angel wings.

Casey: What, did you think I'd tell you about my time travel amulet so soon into this friendship?Pfffft!

Jeremy: I've known him for years. It feels so strange for him to.. not be here anymore.

Jeremy: I know this is probably better for him in the long run which is why I can't be selfish, but it sucks. Everything sucks. I'm whiney and selfish and shouldn't be boring you with this.

Jeremy: I wish. My job wouldn't allow it, and I'd like to have one to come back to if I could. Are you not from here?

Jeremy: I'd believe that.

Jeremy: Nope, too late. The government has already pinpointed your location and is already on the way confiscate it from you. You can't be careless like that.

Jeremy: Hah, thanks. I'm just a big nerd at heart, really. But that's already pretty obvious.

Casey: Oh no! That sounds terrible! What happened?

Casey: :))) TY It's a talent, I suppose.

Casey: Yeah! I have "Angel" written across the top of my forearm in typewritten letters. It's not very big, but I love it. 👼

Casey: LOL!!! Easy, you pop in a dvd and pretend it's your first time watching it and you've never seen a fantasy movie before in your life.

Casey: What's your fave movie, professor?

Jeremy: I don't know how much you remember of that night (mainly because I don't remember a lot) but that guy that I was telling you about. The one that I had really strong feelings for for a very long time.. yeah, he's gone. He's gone and suddenly everything just seems.. pointless. Like maybe I should just leave for Greece tomorrow.

Jeremy: A very important one.

Jeremy: Oh, that's sweet. Is that because you're an Angel?

Jeremy: Aw come on. I expected you to go along with it a little more than that.

Jeremy: Well.. I want to say Neverending Story. But I also have to say A New Hope. Orr Back to the Future or Ferris Buller's day off. I don't do well with having a single favourite.

Casey: Hey!

Casey: No, that's okay, you can talk to me. What's going on, Mr. Professor?? Too many papers to grade?

Casey: Naw, don't feel bad. I'm the first person I'd call, too. NGL I'm pretty awesome.

Casey: I'm doing good. Just got my first tattoo ever. It's bandaged up right now and looks kinda raw, but I love it.

Casey: I'm also about to go back 18 years and watch Fellowship of the Ring.

Casey: Can you believe I was only 5 years old when it came out?!

Jeremy: I wish. I would happily take that form of distraction right now over anything else.

Jeremy: You're right. And even if you're tying or not, you do make me smile so thank you for that.

Jeremy: Oh really? No way. What is it, if you don't mind me asking? You also don't have to tell me.. I know people sometimes get them for personal reasons and I wouldn't want to intrude in any way. Either way that's pretty cool. I don't think I could ever get one.

Jeremy: You never told me you knew how to time travel. How do you do it?

Jeremy: Oh no, don't tell me that.

Jeremy: I know I was only supposed to use this number when I finally give in to letting you redo my bathroom.. but uh, I guess I didn't really have anyone else to text.

Jeremy: Which makes me feel even worse about myself but we're going to ignore that.

Jeremy: But that's besides the point.

Chuckling softly, he nodded his head, “Yes actually.” He chewed on his bottom lip and felt his cheeks get a little bit red with the other man’s reaction. “Really? Well maybe I will go, but it would be nicer with a friend.” He hummed. “I’d even buy that friend a drink and something to eat…” He hummed again.

“Oh you’re definitely coming if I’m going. Could you imagine me.. going in there.. alone. No,” Jeremy teased, shaking his head. “No way. You’re coming.” He smiled over at the other man. “I don’t actually know where one of those clubs are.. it’s been ages since I went to one.”

“…I just said I’d take you on a magic carpet ride.” Derek gave the man a shrug, knowing how stressful the days could be. He didn’t know the stranger, didn’t know what he was going through so he wasn’t in a position to judge. “I guess kids nowadays are pretty much self involved, you know? Can’t blame ‘em, just gotta steer them in the right direction. Like Hilary Swank from Freedom Writers. Have you ever seen that movie?”

“Really? You did?” Jeremy asked, slightly surprised that he went on a tangent from that. “I, uh, what made you say that?” He mused with a slight crooked smile, trying to brush off the rant he had just gone on. “Yeah.. yeah, that’s.. that’s the plan at least. Sorry, usually I am able to control my feelings.. I guess it’s just been a rough week.”

Casey was nothing if not intuitive. Jeremy was fairly easy for him to read, but it wasn’t a bad thing. In fact, it was a great thing. It made it easy to talk to him and get him to open up. Casey didn’t like having to pry conversation out of people. “Alright, talk to me. What is it that’s keeping your eyes from the prize? Students? Personal life? Let me pick up the tab tonight, and I’ll think of the perfect place you could go on vacation. Greece would be cool, but I think you need someplace different,” he said, narrowing his eyes a little. Casey ran his fingers through his soft blonde curls and rested his chin on his hand, giving the other his undivided attention.

Jeremy lifted his eyes. He knew he couldn’t lie to the other, he had never been good at lying to begin with. “You really don’t have to do that, Casey. I’m not.. I’m not that big of a charity case,” he teased lightly. “Someplace different? What’s wrong with Greece? I would love to go.. anywhere just so rich and full of culture.. also quiet. It needs to be quiet. That’s where I’d like to go.” He sipped on his drink slowly, just looking over at the younger man.

Jeremy: Yeah, sorry.. I know I cant keep using it as an excuse, but work has been kind of a lot lately. There's been a lot going on in my head too.

“You sound like you need a break, Mr. Andrews,” Casey teased, raising his brows and resting his chin on his hand. “There’s, what….? A few months until winter vacation? You need to pick up and go somewhere. Maybe a tropical weekend getaway to get a little sun. OR you could just stay in and have a pillow fort staycation where you literally binge Netflix and chill,” he suggested, tilting his head a little.

Jeremy let out a sigh, chewing at his lips as he looked over at the blonde. He hated how perceptive and unafraid to tell him what he thought the boy was, and at the same time, that was one of the many things Jeremy had grown to grow almost jealous of when it came to Casey. For someone so young he seemed to know wonders more than the teacher did at his age. “I know.. you’re right. There’s just.. been too much shit going on in my head I can barely even keep myself thinking straight during classes. It’s wrong, I should never get this way,” he sighed. “Maybe.. maybe I’ll go to Greece. Well, I’d love to go. I don’t know if I could swing it.. but yeah. Getting out for a bit. That’s the dream.”
