Sorry for disappearing. I went back home to Wales because I wasn’t feeling too good, leaving my sick Nain behind after Christmas. She ended up taking care of me instead. I’m back now, slightly jet-lagged. Is everyone doing well while I was away?

Confession: I hate Christmas Trees. They’re too big, they take forever to decorate, they drop needles all over the place … no point in lugging a tree into an apartment I’m barley in. BUT … I do find creative ways to make tree shaped food. Anybody interested in some kickass Christmas Tree cupcakes for their holiday festivities, lemme know. I’ve finally perfected them.
Ohhhh those look amazing. They must take forever to make though? I’m not gonna lie I would love to grab some of those for my kid...and who am I kidding, for myself too!

Haha, well that’s just my way of discreetly saying there’s a lot going on, from every end of the spectrum. Is that right? What brought you to LA? I’m from Upstate, New York actually, though I mainly worked and lived in Brooklyn as an adult.

I don’t really have any huge plans, but I’m a Veteran so I’m off for the day. My girlfriend and I were thinking of taking a day trip to La Jolla. My daughter likes the kayaking there and Seal Beach is always interesting. How bout you? Anything exciting going on?

I’ve actually been up there and it’s not too bad at all. Your buddy has good taste. Pacific Coast Cruise, Route 36, Angeles Crest Highway, and there’s plenty more. I’m a lieutenant to our Rescue Squad, we handle specialized equipment and acknowledge when it comes to rescues. Usually, I work four to five days in a row, about 12 or more hours a day but I’m also on duty at night so mostly longer. Usually, every week get a few 24-hour shifts. It’s pretty different, but my home is the Firehouse and my family.
That’s a pretty diverse schedule but it sounds like it works for you and your lifestyle...I’m not gonna lie, most of what you do sounds like Greek to me, but I guess that’s why they pay you guys the big bucks! What do you do for leisure when you’re not working, besides the biking?

Ha, well, there’s that too. I’ve just been here for close to seven months, actually and I’ m from Upstate New York, though I spent of lot of years working and living in Brooklyn. Detroit, eh? What brings you to the west coast?

Thank you, I started riding a dirtbike when I was eleven and a motorcycle when I was sixteen. We usually do some decorating at the station, we can’t do too much considering we have to follow guidelines.
A good friend of mine is an avid rider; he swore Malibu State Park was the best place near LA, in terms of landscape and open highway I guess. Where do you like to ride? I imagine you guys would have lots of limitations for that kind of stuff around a fire house. So what’s your routine like as a fireman? From what I’ve read you guys mostly work in shifts for several days in a row? That must make it tough to maintain a personal life outside of work. Not sure how I’d manage.

Goodness, I’m glad I didn’t have to go through that. Well, I adopted him from a shelter and the day I went in. Major was just being brought in, didn’t have him registered in their system yet. I fell in love right away when I saw him.
Yea, it’s been a bit of a hassle, but not too daunting, ya know? Nice; for us the process was a lot more tedious, but that was mainly because I’m allergic to pet dander, but it all worked out in the end. So how are things going at the gallery?
