We’re fortunate to have these spectacular gardens close enough to home that we can watch the quiet changes the plants undergo throughout the seasons. Our friends on the east coast may laugh when we say the word ”seasons” in LA, but unlike many of the things our city is known for, the seasons here are a beautiful study in subtelty. Our walks at the Huntington have also reminded us of how important it is to get outside, even for a short time, and look around and just breathe. Thanks to the staff and volunteers for all their amazing work.

Our project “Most Serene Republic” was born out of our visits to the Huntington Gardens. The morning walks started as a simple search for something calm amidst the overwhelming “everything” of daily bad and worse news. The photographs were an attempt to create immersive images of beauty and the perfection of manicured nature. Over the course of the year, the images evolved into psychological landscapes reflecting emotional states of being as much as beautiful flowers. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd8qGr-FVIJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“Earth Mother” mural by Ernesto de la Loza and Sandra de la Loza. We followed the progress of this remarkable public work from the very first brushstroke to the final installation in its home in Highland Park. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdqmNNllTG0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother-figures out there. We’re so lucky to call these two kind, loving, and infinitely patient women our moms. PS- Not only are Pammie and Laura big-hearted wonderful humans, they are also total cuties. - Pammie and Laura in trees; California and Taiwan. - Pammie with “Jessie” in California - Laura with Clark in Taiwan — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/sIbHU0W

A list. A hunt. Some things we love. Rocks, spiderwebs, lichen, insects, birds in flight, birds in the water, birds in trees, forests, dunes, chaparral, cliffs, grasslands, crashing waves, still water, clouds, rain, night skies, blossoms, petals, mushrooms, leaves, branches, sticks… Lunar New Year Sebastopol III, 2022 — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/jqTbFwg
