me and my husband in the desert being black as hell
life doesn’t frighten me. maya angelou (who I had the privilege of meeting) wrote this children's poem for the kids who like to front like they're not scared, but really are. That is totally me, sometimes I don't like to admit how much a trauma has impacted me. Sometimes I act like I can handle life as a Black woman in America with ease, but I can't; it is frightening, and it's ok to just do your best whether that looks brave or nah. Also, I love love love the illustrations by the iconic #basquiat.
