â god, you know iâm so overworked by my fucking job. iâm done with school, you think i would catch a break, but it seems like i never stop ? this week has been pure shit already. â jessie sighed heavily out of frustration, running a hand through her hair, her mind on stress mode. looking over at the girl adjacent; it was as if a light bulb appeared over head with an amazing idea, â letâs go to a fucking bar. you wanna go to a bar ? i need to get drunk, as soon as possible. âÂ
the sudden force of the car halting to a complete STOP caused dae to choke on his laughter; he hunched over in his seat, his hands immediately going up to massage his throat ( which, thanks to jessieâs love for slamming on the breaks at every fucking opportunity, had been awfully abused by the seatbelt at this point ). through watery eyes, dae managed to strangle out the last of his words in staccatoed breaths, âiâm ⌠iâm sorry, fuck!â he wiped the amused tears away with a contented sigh, âthe look on your face is just so goddamn precious right now. alright, but look, listenâŚâ his amused expression made little attempt at hiding his excitement as he continued, âyouâre always talking about how boring this small world of ours is. we go to clubs on monday. house parties on tuesday. dinner nights on wednesday. whatever, so predictable, you know? i just figured that we should stop doing the same old bullshit we always do and start looking for something interesting thatâs BEYOND this world. right?â at this point, dae was completely pulling the horseshit right out of his assâ comfortably giving jessie this impassioned speech about how they needed to expand their minds ⌠or whatever other bullshit he could come up with in order to convince her to be BRAVE tonight. âcome on, weâre so close!âÂ
realizing that he had an opportunity to force jessie into another one of his stupid shenanigans, dae immediately changed his tone and raised his hands in resignation. âyou know what? the place i want to check out is really close by.â unbuckling himself out of his seat, he reached behind them for the backpack heâd prepared earlier that night, âi canât force you to come with me ⌠but iâm definitely going to go investigate by myself. will you wait for me until i get back, at least?â he got out of the car with a somber expression, âi promise iâll try to be back as soon as i can. so donât open these doors until i come back. because we really donât know whatâs out hereâŚ.â he feigned a look of concern before closing the door on her with a SLAM! turning away from the car with a childish grin, dae flipped the switch to his flashlight on and began walking in the direction of a trailâ knowing damn well that jessie would soon follow.Â
watching him laugh to the point of excruciating pain was difficult for her to not join along in, but the fear she has of ghosts, demons, hauntings, ouija boards, anything remotely involved in horror films was enough to actually make her shit herself. -- so no, there were no laughs on jessieâs end. she was stuck in the middle of god knows where, with little to no cell reception, and a pitch black street. why the fuck dae wanted to preach to her passionately about the need to experience a world beyond their imagining was truly beyond her mind at this point. the way she stared at him as he tried to justify his batshit crazy ways, one would think her eyes were actually about to pop out of their socket. the two of them have managed to do a lot of things most would deem âirresponsibleâ or âludicrousâ but this, this was beyond anything either one of them have ever even spoken about. it was hard for her to stomach horror movies most of the time, let alone live inside an actual one tonight. â youâre like speaking an entirely different language to me. your mind and my mind are on two ENTIRELY different universes right now ! what the FUCK would make you think i want to die tonight by ghost or murder or fucking-fucking texas chainsaw massacre for all we know ?! â she screamed at him, her tone beyond exasperated at the idea of a real life haunted house.Â
suddenly her heartbeat picked up, now sporadic and heavy as she noticed him unbuckling the seatbelt and making an exit. â no-no dae, what are you doing ? â she said as she quickly realized he was leaving her stranded by herself in this car -- and of course, she could drive away, if she had any idea where the fuck they were. â dae, you know damn well i canât leave you ! i have zero idea of where we even are ! â in between her sentences he closed the door, turned a flashlight on, and boldly made his way into a dark abyss. tapping her foot anxiously, she mumbled to herself encouragingly, â you know, itâs not even that bad. itâs not even that dark. â as she said these words, her head flicked around to realize that she was pretty much engulfed by blackness. putting her head down, she groaned abnormally loud, before pulling over and parking the car. â oh FUCK, i hate this. â jessie quickly unbuckled herself before hopping out of the car at lightning speed, her phone being used as a flashlight as she screamed, â DAE ! PLEASE WAIT UP ! I HATE YOU ! â
hello, hello, hello!!!!! god i am TRASH i am so sorry for my inactivity the past day things were so !!!! but here i am!!! pls like this or message me if u wanna start plotting and i can create some closed starters <3Â
âyeah, yeahââ he dismissed her comments with a flippant wave of the hand, âyou talk about all this shit like youâre not going to win an oscar for best director one of these days. i might be working with paramount now, but one of these days, i swear itâll be you who i work for. which reminds me, iâm going to have to ask for six months out of every year off in advance. iâm gonna need the time off to pursue my dream of finding the best pasta place in every city in the continental u.s.,â the corners of his lips turned upwards as his eyes crescented over dimpled cheeks, âand if you canât accommodate that kind of work schedule then clearly we were never even really friends.â he chuckled and glanced back down at his phone, his fingers flying across the screen in preparation for the surprise he had for jessie. being close to her like this was always a bit of a CHALLENGE; because though they were similar in many ways ( what with their shared interests in film and their joint custody over a single fuckinâ BRAIN CELL! ), she drew out a side of him that was more daring; dangerous. stupid, even. and finding a new way to entertain her every night was always a struggle ( but one worth doing for the possibility of making her smile ). as he sat there, getting together his last-minute arrangements, he wondered if there would ever come a point where the bar theyâd set for fun would take them to a place they couldnât come back from. but he figured that if they ever got to that point ( likely getting ARRESTED ), at least itâd be a story worth telling.
when she re-emerged, his gaze shifted upwards to catch the last of her model strut. breaking out into a laugh, dae followed her down the steps of the apartment, âlisten, itâs not my fuckinâ fault that you didnât hear me telling you to take the exit over the sound of your tone-deaf singing. oh, but you saved my life, huh? well, did you ever stop to consider that maybe after listening to you belt out high school musical songs for an hour⌠that i didnât want to be on this earth anymore?â he teased as he buckled himself into the seat. once his phone paired with the car, he turned on some music and inputted the address onto his phoneâ only looking up once from his GPS to shoot jessie a warning glance when she made an attempt to change the song that was playing. after successfully navigating her through the city streets and onto the freeway, dae finally reverted his attention to the unsuspecting girl beside him, âsince itâs kind of too late for you to turn back⌠i might as well tell you what weâre doing.â a tiny grin flashed across his face as he snuck a glance at her, âbut first i really have to ask⌠how do you feel about ghosts, jessie?â
trying her damn best to not let his words of praise inflate her ego, she more than appreciated it. her work was something she could easily become insecure about and the fact that he had so much faith in her showed just how special their friendship really was. things between them werenât nonstop belligerent tendencies and wild decision making, those were just bonuses to the in-depth, delightful bond theyâve grown to have. â shut up dae ! youâre gonna make me blush, and i donât feel like getting made fun of for the next week about it. -- also, youâve tried my pasta. pasta that i poured out of the box and made for you, with sweat, tears, and blood. how dare you still be on the hunt for anything better. â being friends with him meant that she was always on her toes, which she adored; although seattleâs population is anything but small, the town felt seemingly microscopic the longer she stayed around. with all that considered, jesse and dae were on a constant watch to find out what new trouble they could get into with one another. it kept things a whole lot more interesting. back home in florida, she definitely had a handful of friends who were willing to have a great time with her, but never has she had a friend like dae who is always ready to push things to the limit. her sagittarius tendencies appreciated it more than he would ever know. Â
jaw dropping in absolute astonishment as his hurtful words, she instantly snapped right back at him, â oh how fuckinâ dare you. how dare you ! you know damn well i will shut up with the high school musical showtunes when you man up and learn troyâs verses in the classic masterpiece that is â i gotta go my own way â and finish the fucking duet with me. do you think i want to be a one man show for that song ? âcause i donât. â it was late as it is, and the further they got into the drive, the darker the roads seemed to be. at this point whenever she stared into any rear view mirrors, the city was just a tiny speck in the pitch black, night sky. not wanting to come off like a wimp and get bullied about it, jesse remained silent but the anticipation was killing her. finally, he broke the silence, but the words he said made her stomp alarmingly hard on the brake. â oh you douchebag. oh my god ! i hate you ! i HATE you ! is this your way of trying to make me understand that hereditary is shit ? because if so then yes dae, the movie is shit, and we can all go home now. youâve completely lost your mind, do you know that ? âÂ
stumbling into jessieâs apartment, something he blamed on her BRUTE strength ( and not the alcohol he had already downed in anticipation of all this ), dae fixed the collar of his jacket with a sharp tug and returned her look of mock-annoyance, âlisten, iâm a busy guy. i canât reply back to every message you send me,â he said as he circled her apartment, his hand absentmindedly tracing the length of her couch while he glanced around inquisitively, ââespecially when theyâre almost all about hereditary. i already told you that i think that the movieâs shit and iâm not going to get into another argument about it,â dae shook his head, a hint of a smile still on the lips he was forcing so hard to flatten into a line, and sank back into a chair by the door. as he listened to jessie complain once again about his tendency to show up unannounced and ⌠LOUDLY, he hid a grin behind his handâ feigning a look of deep thought and consideration before saying, âi think itâs really cute that you think that you could reject me. like you wouldnât just come with me in your pajamas and all. anyway! should i really be telling you where weâre going? i kind of like the idea of keeping you guessing until the very last second. alright, just dress comfortably ⌠thatâs all iâm going to say.âÂ
he watched jessie pop back into her room before he got back up onto his feet. in desperate need of something to do while he waited, something that didnât require him to be entirely SOBER for, dae inspected the pictures on jessieâs wallâ his features softening at the sight of a baby duarte ( and though heâd rather DIE than admit it to her, he had to say she was a cute kid ). it was hard to imagine jessie smaller than she already was; and he wondered if even back then if she was as restless as he was. if she wanted to get out and do something BIG in this world too. when he heard jessie returning, he reached for the keys in his pocket and tossed them to her, âif i tell you where to go, can you drive us there in one piece? i know itâs difficult for you to do thatâŚâ he broke off into a laugh.
solely at the sight of dae, she began to forget completely about that pit of loneliness consuming her headspace. itâs as if he could somehow feel her emptiness because often times when jessie was feeling down in the dumps, dae would come pounding on her door per usual as if to take her away from those shitty thoughts and into a night filled with reckless decisions and great memories. â my mistake. you work for some big shot companies and forget all about lilâ olâ me, whatever, i get it dae, i really do. â she served him a glare of a bitch face, but all in good banter. jessie was more than supportive of him, taking every chance she could to tell him what an ace job he was doing; they shared similar interests which made her all the more adoring and proud of his accomplishments. â and iâm gonna tell you one final time -- toni collette was fucking robbed of an oscar nomination for that â SHIT â movie, period. â shimmying on a top she pulled out of her closet, she scanned her wardrobe for the most comfortable pair of jeans she owned, per daeâs request. walking back out in her new look of the night, she did the best strut towards dae as she possibly could before finishing off with a model pose. â cute and comfortable. i really can do it all. -- you know damn well i canât walk out of my house in my pajamas after that one night i swore i saw ryan gosling leaving that bar in downtown. i still swear it was him dae. â
barely catching the keys he tossed to her ( hand eye coordination, or anything touching on the basis of athleticism was not her strength ), she rolled her eyes at him and shot him a funny look. â youâre the WORST at giving directions, you told me to get off the exit way too late, if i didnât fly off that fucking ramp we would have been balls deep into canada. i saved your life. so... youâre welcome. â jessie gave a little bow of her head as she anticipated a âthank youâ. fiddling with the car keys in hand, she hastily stated, â but to answer your question, yes i will drive because youâve probably had a good ten shots in the past two hours, knowing you. although if we end up arrested for whatever you have up your sleeve tonight, iâm telling the cops it was all your fault. -- so letâs go ! â jessie jumped up and laughed, before escorting him out of her apartment, locking the door, and hopping inside his parked car, hands gripping on the wheel.
seattle nights were often spent in a BLURâ a mix of debauchery and recklessness that usually left him breathless in bed the morning after ( and if he was being honest, sometimes in a bed he didnât even recognize )â and the bedlam that ensued in the late night hours was usually composed of sticky shot glasses, OVEREAGER and miscalculated kisses underneath pulsing neon lights, and the smell of cigarettes in the sweltering heat of the club; all things that suited dae fine and well. after all, rather than spend his evenings at home, killing himself over what innane show to watch next, he toured the streets of downtown seattle with a hunger for something BIGGER, something interesting to do. and while the search for adventure was fun in itself, it was better with a partnerâand dae could think of nobody better than to pull out of bed at midnight than jessie. pounding on her door with a confidence that only four shots of vodka could give him, dae checked his watch impatiently as he waited for her to get out of bed, âduarte! if youâre not at the door in a minute, iâm going to be really disappointed in you. i thought we agreed we didnât sleep until 3am at the earliest. or have you finally gotten boring?â he teased as the door finally swung open. an easy grin replaced the frown he had been wearing all evening, âgood morning, sleeping beauty. get dressed. i want to do something stupid and irresponsible.â
as of recent, jessie had been feeling as if she was going through an awkward phase of her life. seattle had felt too small and at the same time, very lonely. with such a ginormous personality on the girl, she felt like she needed to run free and conquer. -- an existential crisis was plaguing her, something that she most definitely did not need or want at this moment, or frankly, ever. she lifted her phone to her face, the blue light reflecting off of her as she checked for any notifications - any sign of life - but nothing, nothing at all. feeling defeated, a sigh fell from her lips as she looked around her apartment, filled with photos and decor but only her in it, it felt all too lonely  -- that is until jessieâs apartment shook with noise. pounds that could have easily been mistake for the strength of policemen trying to barge down her door interrupted her thoughts and immediately following was an all too familiar voice screaming out to her. practically sprinting to answer it, she rolled her eyes at his comments, shaking her head in laughter, before flinging the door open. â oh, so, you canât reply to my texts but you can show up unannounced, you ass. you know i could have been asleep ? and if you scream outside my door like that again the neighbors are going to try to kick me out, AGAIN, then what are we gonna do dae ? you know, youâre too confident these days, iâm gonna have to change into my pajamas at 9 pm just so i can reject you. â she teased right back, yanking him inside her apartment, before running into her bedroom to change immediately. â ugh, sadly, you and i both know i can never say no to you. wait, â halfway through changing, jessie peeped her head around the corner, â where are we going ? iâm too trusting with you, i swear. â
gwenneth had always had trouble falling asleep at night. laying in bed with the side of her face pressed to a cushiony pillow, gwen sighed and thought about her room back home in georgia. no doubt, if she left tonight, she would be able to get the best sleep she ever had in only a few hours. but this was her life now. and sheâd have to learn how to make do with what she had. a whine slipped past her lips, her mouth forming into a small pout at the thought of another sleepless night.Â
hearing a knock at the door, gwen was suddenly grateful for the distraction. she eagerly climbed out of bed to open the door and squinted as her eyes adjusted to the light of the hallway. recognizing her neighbor, gwen listened sympathetically as she explained her predicament. âaww, i wish i could help but i donât have AAA,â she sighed before considering something else, âi do have a coat hanger though if you want. you could try jimmying the lock?â
making very thoughtless decisions, such as leaving her phone and keys inside a locked vehicle doesnât come as a surprise. one of jessieâs many poor attributes is thoughtlessness -- nevertheless, her silly mistakes donât ever get quite less annoying. thankfully, jessie had seen the girl who answered the door many times around the apartment building -- as a matter of fact, they might have smiled at each other this morning as they walked past one another in the hall. frowning at the notion of hearing the other had no AAA, her second choice was definitely something jessie was more than happy to try. turning her frown into a hopeful smile, she exclaimed, â letâs whip that coat hanger out then. would you mind pulling up a youtube video as a tutorial ? or do you think i should throw caution to the wind and just say fuck it ? -- by the way iâm jessie, i donât know if weâve ever formally introduced ourselves to one another. but after this i may possibly owe you my life. â fortunate enough for jessie, most neighbors would either not answer or tell someone like her at this hour to fuck off, but the girl had been exceptionally nice about the situation thus far, which is so gratifying on jessieâs behalf because recently she had been feeling a tad lonely around the complex.Â
CAMILA MORRONE | FEMALE | SHE/HER | PANSEXUAL - JESSIE DUARTE IS A TWENTY TWO YEAR OLD FILM MAJOR/WAITRESS THAT MOVED INTO APARTMENT A2 A GOOD THREE MONTHS AGO. THE SAGITTARIUS HAS BEEN IN TOWN FOR 1 YEAR OVERALL AND IS WELL KNOWN AROUND SEATTLE RIDGE FOR BEING +SOCIABLE AND +EMPATHETIC, BUT HAS A REPUTATION OF BEING -UNPREDICTABLE AND -OPINIONATED. GUESS THATâS WHY THEY CALL THEM THE COMMENTATOR AROUND THESE PARTS!
past:
born and raised in tampa, florida
grew up in a very loving family, but not the type to give you anything you ever wanted
not the type of kid to get dolls and toys galore, at an early age she really learned to spend her money wisely
both parents worked hard for the family, wanting them to have a good life, they were very admirable in jessieâs eyes
she was sent to private school all years, she wasnât sheltered but her parents wanted her to just have the best of the best while working middle class jobs
jessie has always found escape within movies watching the most absurd movies like pulp fiction, goodfellas, mulholland drive, taxi driver, etc all at the age of 8
grew up with an older sister and older brother, but unfortunately her older brother was killed in a drunk driving accident at the age of 18, jessie was only 13 when it happened, and itâs been heavy on her heart ever since
jessieâs never been one to do the best in academics, barely scraping by with grades in high school, she tried her hardest and managed to only get a few câs here and there -- but school truthfully has always made her miserable
when she was 13, she suffered her first panic attack and used to get them a lot more frequently, now sheâs able to control it a lot more
current:Â
jessie has no issue getting out of her comfort zone, moving from tampa to a town like seattle ridges was not easy but sheâs managed to make the best of it
she got into a local university, and was able to earn herself a few internships in the film department at her school, trying her hardest to become a director/screenplay writer in the industry
jessieâs never been a big fan of getting her hopes up, so she tries to get by day to day with minimal expectations and loose layouts in pure sagittarius fashion
sheâs trying her hardest to use this as a stepping stone to move out to los angeles
was able to get a job as a waitress when she first moved and has stayed at the same restaurant ever since because they treat her well
has tendencies to get bored very easily so is always looking for the best way to spice things up around seattle ridges
has never really had issues with making friends, talking to people, or being inclusive in social situations
has a difficult time opening up about her own personal self, and prefers to not reflect too deeply, but is more than happy to hear about other peopleâs lives and how she can help
loves to use comedic relief to get out of serious situations revolving herself or confrontation
has no problem telling anyone how it is, no matter who the person
still has occasional anxiety/panic attacks but keeps it to herself
loves going out for a drink or to party, she loves distractions
isnât looking for anything serious, or really anything at all, just trying to focus on herself and wants relationships/friendships to be organic and not forceful
wanted connections:
extremely close male best friend, platonic as hell because surprise surprise boys and girls can be friends without anything else. someone who is literally willing to squeal over the newest films with her but also run around the city chasing each other just because the night was looking a little too boring. --Â DAEHYUN âDAEâ KIMÂ
flirtationship, constantly having banter and bickering, but they both find one another kinda cute and charming
give me someone who is very easily agitated by jessieâs energy levels and opinionated nature, but frankly jessie just doesnât give a ratâs ass, and is very aware of it, and loves to come around even more just to poke fun at them a little bitÂ
ooc:

fiddling with her hands for minutes before finally mustering up the courage to knock with the lightest touch on the apartment in front of her, jessie closed her eyes in embarrassment at the sight of the door opening. âhi, SO sorry to um.. bother you, truly. youâre the only person who answered the door in this entire apartment complex so consider yourself the master of my fate. i locked myself out of my car and my phone is inside the damn thing. could you please call AAA for me?!âÂ
