I can so imagine that Taylor secretly loves being on jury duty and is all…“I’M ON AN EPISODE OF LAW AND ORDER THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE” and honestly that is is such an adorable concept that my heart can barely handle
I know it's not very polished but I needed to feel as if I was doing something. I've posted the lyrics below.

Statistics about gun violence
Lyrics:
Another day another trending topic
Someone got a gun from a fishing store
No one paid attention so we lost one more
It might be just another stranger
We shout say something needs to be done
We’re sad for a while but we move on
You might be gone but you're not forgotten
Let’s make today the day that marks a permanent change
One year, 10000 people
That’s a lot of lives that could have been saved
It’s time to start a protest from this pain
No one should have to know how to bury their daughter
We shouldn’t be so unsurprised by yet another slaughter
A tragedy so senseless
No one could defend it
But they do
So I promise you
You might be gone but not forgotten
Let’s make today the day that marks a permanent change
One year, 10000 people
That’s a lot of lives we could have saved
It’s time to start protest from this pain
Another day another trending topic
We ask ourselves how many more
Will be shot through the holes of a broken law
It's that time of the month again! Beauty bloggers around the world are rushing to YouTube to talk about their new favourite products and show off their recent buys. I've been wanting to join in on the fun for a while now but I don't have enough time to make a monthly Favourites video - nor am I even actually a "beauty blogger". But I've decided to start posting a monthly blog with all of my favourite things I've recently discovered. I've also decided to talk not just about beauty and makeup products, but to instead discuss my favourite "thing" in a variety of categories. (Since I have a tendency to start new projects and not continue them, we'll see how long this series actually lasts.)
Favourite TV Show
First up in my May Favourites, I obviously have to talk about TV. If you know me, you know that every month I have a new show I am binge-watching and obsessing about. This month is no different. Thanks to a co-worker's suggestion I have become a huge fan of Rookie Blue and have almost finished three of its entire six season run. As I've previously mentioned I am a big fan of Chicago PD, so I am no stranger to cop shows - and this one is a GREAT cop show. It revolves around Missy Peregrym (star of 'Stick It' - the best gymnastics movie ever made), and four of her police academy classmates, who join The 15 Division as young cops. It's a fun show with more personal drama than Chicago PD (cue the will they-won't they romances!) , but the weekly case storylines are still intriguing. Perfect for a 40 minute break or a weekend of binge-watching.
Favourite App
I regularly get teased about how often I say "Oh, there's an app for that!" in conversations with my friends, so I knew I would definitely have a new app to recommend each month. Since this is my inaugural post, I had to talk about Apple Music. As an Android user who listens to music constantly, I've always had to copy any new songs I download to my phone via USB, which I would always forget to do.
When I found out that the Apple Music app was available on Android - with a three month free trial - I was ecstatic. Since I use iTunes on both my home and work computers, I can easily download any song I want and it will appear on all my devices. After three months the app costs R60/month, but you are able to download an unlimited number of songs. As long as you download 6 songs a month, you more than make your money back.
I have been told that Google Music is only R50/month and that it is also a great platform, but I have not tested it for myself yet - maybe next month. Let me know if you use either of these apps to listen to your new favourite song. Speaking of which...
Favourite Song
Their album isn't even out yet, but I have already been listening to the five songs Dan + Shay have released so far on repeat for the last two weeks. As a country fan I loved all of their first fast-paced, catchy album 19 You and Me and I know I am going to be Obsessed (haha, get it?) with their follow-up record which will be released in its entirety on 3 June. As for my favourite song so far, it's a toss-up between 'Already Ready' and 'Road Trippin'', but I think I have to give the edge to 'Road Trippin'. Watch the video above to see why.
Favourite Product
And now for my favourite of the favourites! Last week while I was doing my weekly grocery shopping (aka walking around the drug store for new makeup), I discovered that DisChem stocks Physicians Formula products. I honestly don't know if this is a recent thing or not, but I've never noticed them there before. I have been on the hunt for a decent highlighter for the past few months and when I saw the All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes, I knew this was what I had been looking for. It did cost a bit more than I wanted to spend, but since it had 12 different shades I could use for highlighting, contouring and for eye shadow, I knew it was versatile enough to be worth it. Plus it was just so pretty - with a little bow to boot!
Favourite Fashion Find
Along with my new highlighting palette, I also made a trip to Lovisa, which is the best place to buy reasonably priced jewelry. You won't find anything too fancy but if you're looking to pick up a couple of new necklaces to round out your collection - as I was - it should be the first stop in your search. At their 3 for R150 rack I found three necklaces I'd been wanting to get for a while. Alone they would have cost R330, so I saved over 50% for some new pretty pieces to wear to work.
Favourite Podcast
I tend to go through stages when I listen to a lot of podcasts - I've mentioned a few of my staples in a previous video. I haven't been listening to many lately but whenever I need to do some cleaning around my flat I put on an episode of Dear Hank and John - a comedy podcast about death - which makes washing the dishes less of a chore.
Favourite Home Decor Item
Since I moved into my new flat in February I've been scouring the internet for the perfect duvet cover for my studio apartment. I've spent hours on Mr Price Home, trying to figure out what would look best. Unfortunately I had to wait for my parents to bring up my duvet first, which they did last week (how I spent four months with just a flimsy bed cover, I don't know). After wandering through all of the home stores deliberating over colour schemes and comparing prices, I ended up going for this water-colour with script detail duvet cover from Woolworths.
Favourite YouTuber
Last but not least my favourite YouTuber, and inspiration for this series, is Estee Lalonde - the queen of gorgeous photo blogs and rambly makeup tutorials. She has been killing it lately with her magically-edited In the World series and the new #FemTalk videos. Make sure you check out her favourites this month and other beauty vlogs.
Honourable Mention to this amazing infinity scarf I picked up from Woolworths for R100 - the perfect accessory for the Cape Town winter!
So that's it for my May Faves - I can't believe we're almost halfway through this year! Let me know what you think of my picks and what your favourites are this month in the comments below. Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for new videos every week and visit the website for more blogs and other goodies.
Ever since I discovered the Vlogbrothers, and by proxy, YouTube, I have been fascinated and obsessed with 'YouTubers" - the videos they make and how they make them. Back in 2007, all you needed was a webcam, a decent internet connection and iMovie and you were up-and-running. You could make a new video every day with minimal effort, and if your content was good enough you could land up on the front page of YouTube and become relatively well-known overnight.
Nowadays the "front page of YouTube" doesn't exist and it takes a lot of time, money, effort - and even more luck - to get "discovered" and make it in the YouTube universe. #YouTubeDrama aside, I love the process of making a video - the flicker of a lightbulb idea in the middle of the night; the fleshing out of a coherent, interesting script; sitting in front of the camera and creating something out of nothing - it's always exhilarating. Even editing, although tedious, makes me feel as if I have accomplished something significant when I watch the final cut.
Last weekend I, along with my new partner-in-crime Jana, filmed two new videos that will be on the YouTube channel in the next few weeks. While I was setting up Jana took some pictures showing exactly what goes into making one of my videos.
My Equipment
The most important and most underrated part of a YouTube video is the audio quality. About two years ago I got myself an M-Audio Nova condenser microphone. Since I sometimes record vocals for music videos and record a weekly podcast with my friend Ryan, I use the same mic to record my audio for all my videos. Most vloggers tend to use a RØDE mic that attaches to their camera, but I can't use that kind of mic for my music or podcasting which is why I opted for the Nova instead. Unfortunately it can sometimes take a bit of maneuvering to make sure the mic is out of shot, but the difference in quality between that and the camera mic is well worth the cost. I use either Cubase 5 or Audacity to record my audio - and I use the M-Audio fast track (not pictured) as a sound card, just in case you were wondering.
I also bought an SL-448 LED light panel last Christmas so that I can film at any time of day and not have to rely on mother nature for light. Lighting is also often forgotten about, but makes such a big difference when it comes to the final quality of a video.
As for my camera - those things are expensiiiive! I was lucky enough to be given the Canon EOS 600D as a gift and I absolutely love it. It may not be the top of the range (in fact - I think it is the cheapest of the range that records video) but it is perfect for what I need. The quality upgrade from a cellphone is amazing and it takes incredible still photos too (I even took it to Europe with me last year and took some amazing pictures - all I had to do was click).
After all the equipment setup is done, it's time for me to get my serious face on and film the actual video. This one was all about my anxiety and going off the medication I was taking (with a doctor's permission of course!) I'm hoping to have it edited (using Adobe Premiere Pro) and online sometime in the next two weeks. Make sure you are subscribed to my channel so you don't miss it!

Tiny little boxes in a row.
Ain't what you want, it's what you know.
Just happy in the shoes you're wearin'.
I have been wanting to cover this song for almost a year now - and I finally got out the ukulele and played my version of Kacey Musgraves' Merry Go 'Round. Over the years Kacey has released some of my favourite written songs and this is definitely one of her best. I hope you like it as much as I do!

So when Kanye takes credit for Taylor's career I understand that he may have shone a spotlight on her music when he, ya know, interrupted her because he didn't think she deserved attention. But made her famous??? Nah....her 5 Platinum albums did that all on their own.
ok here we go pet peeve no. 45678: when girls are made fun of for behaviour that has literally been drilled into them by society. let’s go through some of these.
haha girls are all like “don’t look at me without makeup on!!!!”: maybe because we are taught from a very young age that we’re ugly without makeup. if we don’t wear it we’re asked why we look so tired, why we didn’t make an effort today, why we seem slobbish. as we grow older if we don’t wear makeup we’re seen as unprofessional and it can actually affect our careers but no yeah it definitely doesn’t make sense that we’re insecure about our naked faces whatever
man my gf always takes food from my plate so annoying lol #relatablecontent: probably because she’s fucking starving but it was instilled in her that cute girls eat like precious baby bunnies so she got a salad but all she fuCKING WANTS ARE FRIES. JUST GIVE HER THE FUCKING FRIES.
girls always go to the bathroom together haha lame and weird: mainly so we don’t get attacked asshole. also having a pee buddy is fun i pity you and your pee-buddy-less experience. when do your friends tell you how nice your hair is. oh that’s right they don’t because guys are the fucking worst
look at these drunk girls tottering around on high heels they look ridiculous: i will defend to the death women’s right to get just as completely shitfaced as men and don’t even ACT like it’s not practically fucking mandated that if a woman isn’t wearing high heels she isn’t dressed up. high heels LITERALLY GIVE ME BACK PROBLEMS but i have to wear them for work because if I don’t i’m not “””””professionally dressed”””””” give me a fucking break
WOMAN AND SHOPPING. OHOHOHO BOY.: yeah ok so we have to spend money you don’t on makeup products, skin products, hair removal products, pads and tampons, and on top of that we’re expected to change our clothes more often than you which means we need more of them, and also women’s clothing sizes are voodoo so every fitting session is a battle with your self confidence. AND we pay the gender tax. i fucking hate shopping. i do it because i have to, you buttnerd. and even if some women enjoy shopping im sure some men also enjoy shopping??? why must you gender??? activities??? why is this the world we live in????
girls on their periods are fucking psycho hahaha!!!: no we’re just in more or less constant pain so we have less patience to put up with your your bullshit. not to mention that a woman’s testosterone levels actually INCREASE on her period so GUESS WHO WE’RE MORE FUCKING LIKE, CHAD. GIVE A FUCKING GUESS.
lol girls spend forever in the bathroom lololol: all right first of all if we’re talking about say, a sporting event, and you’re complaining about all the women who are queueing to go to the bathroom, we have a COUPLE MORE STEPS INVOLVED THAN PEOPLE WHO CAN JUST WHIP IT OUT AND THEN TUCK IT AWAY. not to mention the fact that yeah we have to take a second to double check the paint smeared on our faces or the socially acceptable hairstyle we’re wearing. we’re not allowed have fucking buzzcuts chad. apparently having less than the requisite amount of dead protein on the top of our head makes us a target for verbal abuse on the street chad. how about ranting about the people who built the stadium or whatever who KNOW it takes women longer to go to the bathroom but normally lot the same amount of stalls to men and women?? AND IF WE’RE TALKING ABOUT PERSONAL MAINTENANCE yeah ok buddy and how long does it take you to shave your legs? you think I like spending SEVENTY TWO DAYS OUT OF MY LIFE accidentally cutting myself and pulling muscles in my thighs??? well. i dont. so that’s why i don’t do it mainly. but we probably spend the rest of the time slathering ourselves with anti-aging creams because everyone is falling over themselves to tells us that our sell-by date is 35 while George Clooney and RDJ will probably continue to play wry sexy playboys until their fucking hips fall off. go fuck yourself chad.
GOD. I CAN’T EVEN GO ON. ADD YOUR OWN IF YOU THINK OF MORE.
i was not expecting this to get popular at all but i will tell you one joyous thing: over 2,000 notes so far and not one single person has disagreed. WE ALL KNOW ITS BULLSHIT AND THAT IS SOMETHING AT LEAST.
mystery inc. meets social media. the gang is taking a year off from school and they are on a road trip in america. sometimes they run into mysteries that need to be solved.
Did Rory cheat on all the guys she was with throughout the series?
*Jess kiss when she was with Dean
*Jess kiss when she was *sort-of* with Logan
And
*Tristan kiss night after she broke up with Dean
*Sleeping with Dean when he was married
*Realizes she never cheated on Jess*
Nevermind. Carry on.
