The Quran & The Bible III
Selections from An Nisa (The Women) & The Bible
People, be mindful of your Lord, who created you out of a single soul, andout of it created its mate, and out of the two spread countless men and women... -An Nisa 4:1
God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth. -Genesis 1:28
God wants to redeem you in mercy, but those who only follow their lusts want you to drift astray from the right path. God wants to lighten your burden as human beings were created weak. -An Nisa 4:27-8
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
How is it that you are double-minded and divided over the hypocrites, seeing that God Himself has disowned them because of their disobedience? Do you, perhaps, want to guide those whom God has let go astray? Whomever God leads astray, you (Messenger) will never find a way for them. -An Nisa 4:88
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion, leading them to believe what is false, so that all who have not believed the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned. -2 Thessalonians 2:11-12
The hypocrites try to deceive God, but it is He who causes them to be deceived. They rise to pray, they rise reluctantly, only to be seen and praised by men, seldom remembering God, wavering between this and that, belonging neither to one side nor the other… -An Nisa 4:431-2
“And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and you Father who sees in secret will reward you.” -Matthew 6:5-8
People, convincing truth has now come to you from your Lord, and We have sent down to you clear enlightenment. As for those who believe in Him, and hold fast to Him, God will admit them into His mercy and grace, and will guide them to Himself on a straight path. -An Nisa 4:175
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. -Proverbs 3:6

Scriptures: The Quran
The Quran is not only the sacred book of the Muslim faith, but also a code of conduct for believers and the source of their laws. It dominates Islamic philosophy and is the ultimate reference work for the Arabic language: its dictionary, grammar, and literature. It infuses Arabic architecture and art, and indeed all audiovisual media. Its influence is omnipresent throughout the Muslim world. Its unchallenged preeminence derives from the firm belief that it is the authentic word of God and the only path to leading a good life, as the book itself says.
For adherents to the Muslim faith the Quran is the final and perfect edition of a text that actually resides with Allah, just as Muhammad is a culmination of a long line of prophets drawn from the Bible. The following are mentioned in the Quran: Adam, Noah, Enoch, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Lot, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Job, Joshua, Jonah, Zechariah, John the Baptist and Jesus. Four of these are considered not only nabi (”prophets”) but rasul (”chosen ones”) as well, bearers of a new revelation to humanity. They are Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus) and finally, the Prophet Muhammad.
Muhammad supersedes his predecessors just as the Quran supersedes earlier books of revelation: the Torah of Moses, the Psalms of David and the New Testament. Islam says that Moses and Jesus were messengers of “heavenly religions,” but that their teachings were misinterpreted by their followers. Muhammad is the greatest prophet. His message restores and fully realizes the monotheism of Abraham. He is the “Seal of the Prophets,” the last in the line of messengers sent by God.
The Quran that is used today is the complete and definitive edition, published during the reign of the third Caliph, Uthman (CE 644-656). Written in “clear Arabic,” it contains 114 suras (chapters) divided into brief ayahs (”verses”). With the exception of the first sura called Al-Fatiha (The Opening), the suras are ordered in decreasing length, from the longest (286 ayahs) to the last chapter, which is only four ayahs. The dominant themes are the unity of God, the end of the world, resurrection, and the Day of Judgement. But it also deals with social issues such as the family, the role of women, marriage and law.

If life was a needle, your sustenance would be a thread coming to you from its hole, so be assured that what Allah has written is for you and what He has written for others, you will not get it..

“Arbaeen”
The walk approximately 92 kilometers from Najaf city to Karbala.
The whole route is divided into 1,452 poles for the ease of pilgrims, where the distance between each pole is 50 meters. The approximate walking time is 16 to 23 hours, but pilgrims continue to arrive in Karbala after walking for about four to five days. The walk officially starts on 16th Safar, four days prior to Arbaeen. Pilgrims are expected to arrive in Karbala on the night or evening before Arbaeen.
Throughout the Najaf-Karbala route, food and services like medical support, housing, prayer areas, resting spots, refreshments and even massaging services are provided free for those who participate in the walk. All these services are provided individually by Iraqi citizens and some foreign communities as well. Pilgrims are usually housed at night in gender-segregated mawkabs, which are places with all the necessary services for a night’s stay. In bigger, more well-equipped mawkabs, pilgrims are also provided with showers for bathing. At intervals, Iraqi locals are also seen offering the pilgrims a night’s stay or a meal in their own houses nearby. Guides and army soldiers are also seen throughout the route for guidance and security purposes. hi Pilgrims usually carry a single backpack each, containing anything they might want to carry with themselves for the journey.
Arbaeen literally means “fortieth” in Arabic and is used as a name for the day which marks the fortieth day from the date of the Tragedy of Karbala, according to Islam. This day falls on 20th Safar on the Islamic calendar. The shrines of the martyrs of Karbala are situated in the same city in Iraq.
6 months old 'Ali Asghar'
(Son of Imam Hussain A.S)
"Hal Min Nasurin Yansuruna?"
"Is there anyone to help me? Is there anyone to help the grandson of the Holy Prophet (SAWW)?"
No one answered Imam Hussain's (A.S) call. But Imam Hussain (A.S) heard the sound of crying coming from his camp.
Imam Hussain (A.S) returned to his tents to see Syeda Zainab (S.A).
"My brother Hussain (A.S), when you called out, 'Is there anyone to help me?', Ali Asghar fell from his cradle."
Imam Hussain (A.S) knew what Ali Asghar was trying to say.
Imam Hussain (A.S) picked up Ali Asghar.
"My son, Ali Asghar, do you want to do your Jihad? Come! Let us go, my little soldier, Asghar."
Imam Hussain (A.S) carried Ali Asghar to the battlefield.
Yazid's men saw Imam Hussain (A.S) approaching with something in his hand.
He held Ali Asghar high with both his hands and said:
"O soldiers of Yazid, you feel i have offended you, but what has this little child done to you?
He has not had a drop of water for three days. He is dying of thirst. I beg you to give water to this innocent little child."
There was no answer!
Once more Imam Hussain (A.S) begged.
"Maybe you think that when you bring water for this child, i will drink it too. I will put this little child on the ground. You can come and give him water yourself."
Imam Hussain (A.S) placed Ali Asghar on the burning sand of Karbala.
No water came for Ali Asghar.
Imam Hussain (A.S) picked him up.
Ali Asghar stuck his dry tongue out and moved it over his dry lips looking towards Yazid's men. He fought Jihad with his tongue.
It hit the hearts of Yazid's soldiers who had children of their own. They became restless.
They spoke amongst themselves:
"Imam Hussain (A.S) is saying the truth.
What has this child done to us? Why is he punished like this? Let us give him some water."
Umar ibne Saad (Lanati) got worried that his soldiers will turn against him.
Umar ibne Saad (Lanati) ordered his best archer: "Hurmullah (Lanati)! What are you waiting for? Silence the little child! Hurry up, shoot your arrow."
Hurmullah (Lanati) aimed an arrow at Ali Asghar. A small arrow for a little child? No! An arrow with three sharp heads.
The arrow went through Imam Hussain (A.S) arm and lodged in the tiny neck of Ali Asghar. Ali Asghar died instantly.
May the curse of Allah (SWT) be on the oppressors.

Bibi Sakina (4 years old) was the most beloved daughter of Imam Hussain ibne Ali (A.S) and used to sleep on his chest every night.
When Bibi Sakina went to bed at night she always wanted to spend some time with her father. Imam Hussain (A.S) would tell her stories of the Prophets (A.S) and of the battles fought by her grandfather Imam Ali (A.S).
Imam Hussain ibne Ali (A.S) was often heard saying, "A house without Bibi Sakina would not be worth living in".
The army of Yazid (Lanati) began to gather at Karbala, Imam Hussain ibne Ali (A.S) said to his sister Zainab (S.A), "The time has come for you to get Bibi Sakina used to going to sleep without me".
Peace be with you! O' pampered one of Imam Hussain (A.S), the one who cried "Who made me an orphan though i am still a child?"
