Homestuck's Gnosticism: The Conflict
==>
That Homestuck is "a Gnostic story" seems to be widespread knowledge, but I think there's limited understanding as to what that actually entails. often you'll hear that Roxy and Jade "have Gnostic themes" about them thanks to their chumhandles, but little elaboration on the matter.
The central cosmic conflict in Gnosticism is between two aspects of God, each with their own worlds; the feminine aspect, called 'wisdom' or Sophia, represents the world of the spiritual, while the ignorant masculine Yaldabaoth rules over the physical, the world of the flesh. This is also Homestuck's central cosmic conflict (Yaldabaoth's in-person appearance being but a small clue), and most readers will be able to identify the basic shapes these two forces take in the comic; the motherly female Muse oversees Space, and is locked in eternal combat with her brother the patriarchal Lord of Time.
==>, ACT 7
It's common to hear of Space and Time represented as the aspects of creation and destruction respectively, and this holds true to a point. But something that is crucial to understand is that while the Muse of Space is ostensibly our heroine, and the Lord of Time is our primary villain, creation and destruction are, in and of themselves, morally neutral acts. Indeed, the Muse's ultimate spell is not to truly create anything, or even to put an end to the Lord's destruction, but to condemn him to the same destruction for all eternity.
This is because, while creation versus destruction is the battlefield on which much of Homestuck takes place, Homestuck is only superficially "about" creation and destruction. The creation myth serves as a backdrop to the personal arcs of the characters, but also as a veil hanging over deeper themes.
#i miss homestuck so much
a little personal response / tribute to "here's the life i've always longed for" by Anna Haifisch. the original means so much to me, and even though it's hard, I feel like every day i'm making more steps toward finally being on the other side of that fence <:)
so they told me the party moved here

I now understand how the ppl who had read the mp100 manga felt while excruciatingly waiting for Serizawa to appear now that i have to face the fact that Mithrun's not gonna be animated for AGES. The anime only fans won't even KNOW who this freak is
I love homestuck. Homestuck raised me. I will never suggest someone read it. I cant even tell you the whole plot. I know the whole plot by heart. Homestuck is vile. Homestuck is perfect. Homestuck is so bad. Homestuck was revolutionary for me. Homestuck changed the course of my life. I will never talk about it unless under extreme circumstances. Its funny. It influenced my grammer. I dont think about homestuck. I Always think about homestuck. Please talk to me about homestuck. Never talk to me about homestuck. I spent a year of my life terrified that I was going to be struck down for saying Jegus. I never got struck down. I am powerful with this knowledge. I am weakened by this knowledge. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would not choose it again if the situation were different. It would have chosen me anyway. Read homestuck. Don't think about homestuck.
I feel oh so normal about mithrun from dungeon meshi. livinf in the dungeon meshi universe would be worth it if only for the opportunity to kiss mithrun once (one time!). on my hands and knees downright begging and sobbing and choking out the words "you are So" and his response is nothing more than "ratio" and then teleporting me to the farlands, never to be heard from again
the video game parabola where games that are bad are bad but games that are too polished are also bad
what i love about Dungeon Meshi is how Ryoko Kui slowly eases you into how fucked up its world and story are, she doesn’t throw all the drama and darkness in your face right away, sure it starts with tragedy but she then walks you through, to, and beyond it in a safer and less overwhelming way by focusing on its comedic and lighthearted parts with sprinles of more serious and darker ones thrown in, slowly making the latter parts be of bigger importance the deeper into the dungeon the characters go, which, in my opinion, makes its dramatic and heartwrenching moments much more impactful because you feel a lot more connected to its world and characters once you get to where everything is going, you start to care about them because of their positivity and beauty so you want to stay through their negativity and ugliness.
she delicious on my dungeon till i meshi
holy shit the number of people saying the new dunmesh chapter is way too clean and anticlimactic of an ending is so funny to me like...of course it is. that's the whole point. everything about this chapter caused such immense dread in the pit of my stomach, more than any chapter preceding it. because there are so many things that are clearly wrong. it's foreshadowing that everything is Not Fine and there are even more, possibly even bigger things just over the horizon. does the little "to be continued" in the corner mean nothing to you
