orioles odium is a story set in a post apoctalyptic city in the middle of a blizzard caused by two mages several hundred years ago, called oriole. several major governments across the world illegalized the use of magic on a civilian scale, causing revolts and "apocalypse zones" where the use of magic was especially high

the story follows the stigmata (the odium) as they plot the downfall of the worlds "last city" to cause the "extinction of man", why they feel they need to, and what changes their minds

ORIOLE: a city in an eternal snow storm caused by a duel between two long gone wizards. the magicians stay frozen in ice in the city center to this day

the city council of magicians has devised a way to keep the city warm. warm enough to be liveable at least. through routine blood lettings of the council and one full sacrifice of a military soldier every four years, they can use the spilled blood to warm the city. this causes a permanent aurora borealis around the city border. the lights fade when it starts to get cold.

the longer the blizzard is staved off the harsher it becomes

the head of the city council has a mechanical bird which seems to have always been there, a human soul which has been transferred into a mechanical oriole. he made the blueprints for the instrumen originally. all birds in oriole are designed by him, and subsequently have a piece of him inside and act as a secret security system. his "mainframe" is The Computer Room

ORIOLE'S MILITIA: songbirds: the androids the enforcers, rarely seen and used mainly to suppress riots and protests. often in the streets and used as security in buildings on the lower end the executioner, performs the most important job in oriole. culling and extracting the blood of the militia, mainly livestock guardians both are powered by the extracted souls and flesh of executed criminals the spies, robotic birds that monitor the city. they're only so highly regarded because they carry a piece of the musician in each
