People forget the costumes Eda makes mot take a lot of work FIRST of all, not just for fitting. They are made to appropriately protect and accomadate them with their superpowers. I.e Violet’s not only being invisible with her, but also reflect bomb attacks from enemies. As well as Elasticgirl’s costume bouncing out bullet wounds as she streches her body.

Time to reveal another Invisible Life of Addie LaRue piece! This time, an illustration featuring a scene from the book where Addie is reading on a rooftop of a building.  This was an illustration used in a two-part acrylic framed art print for the Illumicrate October 2020 box. The star pattern was printed on the surface of one of the two acrylic blocks, with the print sandwiched in between - giving it a 3D affect as Addie reaches up to the touch the stars.

This frame concept was perfect for this scene, because in this scene, there are no stars in the sky.  Seven freckles, seven stars, allusions to seven great loves in her life. Her life, that only she can reminisce about, only she (and the reader) can see. Without the acrylic frame, you only have Addie cautiously reaching up to an invisible star, but one that seems to be tangible:

I’m absolutely excited to finally show this illustration inspired by The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, commissioned by V.E. Schwab as a bonus print with every ticket purchase for her upcoming virtual tour in October 2020! I usually take the time to deep dive into these pieces; to explain the symbolisms and inspirations and hidden meanings - but I approached this illustration as how one would approach cutting a movie trailer. To tease your curiosity with its emotions and capture your attention with its mystery, and hope that as you read it, the story behind this illustration begins to unfold with the book.

I hope everyone reading it for the first time can really take the time to absorb it - it’s such a heavy-hearted, slow-burning, and wonderfully atmospheric book. Since I did not have an audiobook version (which I’m STOKED to re-experience when its released), I could only read a little bit at a time on my daily dog walks. But it gave me the time to sink into each segment, and feel a similar stretch of time as Addie was experiencing through her 300 years.

I’m excited for it to finally be released to you all, and super stoked to have been one of the many artists in these campaign events who contributed what I would consider a ‘review’ with our artwork. It’s something I’ve always thought would be improbable to review an ARC through art in lieu of written reviews.

Historia:

Si conocieras a Park Sheridan en el bus, probablemente pensarías que es cool, tal vez un poco extraño y definitivamente un outsider.  Es lo suficientemente popular para que no lo molesten, y lo suficientemente diferente como para no pertenecer al grupo de los populares. Su pasión es la música y los comics. 

Fisicamente:

Es mitad coreano e irlandés, y a diferencia de su hermano Josh, Park se ve muy coreano. Tiene el cabello negro y los ojos verdes, le gusta ocupar ropa negra, usualmente sus camisetas llevan estampadas alguna de sus bandas favoritas y utiliza delineador.   

Psicologicamente:

Park es una persona reservada, tranquila y tímido, no le gustan los deportes, ni salir de fiesta, y se siente como un outsider en su propia familia.

Mi opinión:

A diferencia de Eleanor, no le agarré tanto cariño a Park, no es que no me guste, pero es un personaje que no tiene un cambio muy trascendental al final de la historia, si voy a destacar que me gusta (al igual que con Eleanor) que se saliera del estereotipo de hombre dentro de una novela juvenil, y el apoyo que le brindaba a Eleanor (hasta el punto de defenderla físicamente) me agrado mucho de él. Park es muy lindo, tierno y definitivamente era perfecto para Eleanor.
