Hi jgfiles! If you remember me, I’m the one who asked you about Fukumoto with sniper rifle! Thank you so much for answering my question ˃̶͈◡˂̶͈. If you don’t mind I want to ask you about jg again (⁎˃ᴗ˂⁎)
I saw your Tazaki character summary few days ago and I didn’t know the anime cut about Tazaki’s background and the fencing scene in the novel. Do you by any chance know if someone has translated his chapter? I checked Imayooshi’s account and they only translated Robinson chapter so far 😔
Sure, I love to talk about JG!
No, no one translated that chapter.
Imayooshi managed only to translate "Joker Game", "Ghost" and part of "Robinson", I used google translate to make a messy translation of "Valkyrie" and unnagi translated "XX". That's all that got translated for Joker Game as far as I know.
However you can see that scene in chap 8 of the "Joker Game The animation" manga which is available on the various places that host scanlations and yeah, they placed it in "Robinson" even though it was meant to happen in another novel.
But whatever, I love all the extra content I can get so I've no complains.
Hi jgfiles! Thank you for staying active despite JG fandom not really active as much like how it used to be!
I’ve been wondering since Lt. Col. Yuuki said that D-agency only recruit men. In that case, what will happen if a woman were to join and exceed Lt. Col. Yuuki expectations to be a proper spy. And also this is a bit of my personal delusion (lol) but what would the boys think of her?
(I’m asking this definitely not for my fanfic materials)
I know many would want to insert girls in the story especially considering Yuuki's sexist explanation is disgusting, so I fear you won't like my answers.
The problem with this is that it's Yuuki himself who does the recruitment so since he doesn't consider women as possible candidates, he wouldn't reach out to them.
D-Agency is a spy agency, Yuuki never sent out a memo saying "wanna join a spy agency? show up at this address."
He picked up university graduates and selected them with his own standards.
Since he wouldn't pick up women for the first selection, they aren't even given the chance to try his test or know that such job exists.
Said so, Yuuki originally didn't want soldiers, yet he picked up Odagiri and even asked Sakuma if he wanted to join.
If he were to stumble on a woman that could play the part of a spy according to his standards he would probably consider her because he is a pragmatic person but he is not going to search for her so I see the chances of him finding such person that would prove his beliefs on women are wrong by accident very low.
In the story it would be clearly impossible as the author clearly agrees with Yuuki so he wouldn't create such character.
And I really don't wont to go through the mechanics of allowing a girl in an agency that pretend to be a place where only males work and that clearly doesn't have separate baths, bedrooms and so on, never mentioning the nightmare that would be having the Army swallow this.
I mean, this would break the agency's disguise, require a reorganizing of spaces (originally it weren't just 8 spies and no more that joined the agency, the boys were just the first batch of spies, the agency was meant to produce much more as it's also A SCHOOL) and negotiations with the army that already can't stand Yuuki.
I see more likely that if Yuuki were to change his mind, he would open a female spy school than allow a woman in his male only agency. This way he could disguise the place into a place where women would go and might stay the night without creating a scandal and drawing attention.
The boys are very pragmatic so if they find a woman is their equal they probably won't make a fuss but handle her like one of them. Which doesn't mean they'll be kind. They tend to test and challenge each other. In fanfics and in the stage they're depicted as friends but in the story they aren't exactly that.
They are all pragmatic, cold, if they can't be as such they drop out of the school like Odagiri did because it would be a distraction.
And mind you, as a fanfic writer I'll tell you I think we all happily ignore this and have them be friends, close friends and even fall in love but all that is probably not meant to happen in canon.
The spies are completely unencumbered. They believe in nothing, they love nothing, they hate nothing. It's what Odagiri says and why they're defined as 'bakemono', shapeshifting monsters.
Sorry, I fear all this isn't very helpful for the story you want to write. Still I wish you good luck! I love when fanfic writers try to keep the fandom alive!
Hi!! I know it’s been awhile since joker game fandom active but I wanted to ask why is Fukumoto holding a rifle in one of Miwa Shiro illustration? Is it a visualization based on the novel that didn’t get adapted into anime?
Hum... I think you're referring to this image?
It's a reference to the stage version of Joker Game. In it we've an original story in which Jitsui plays the role of a German prisoner and Hatano of a German soldier and he's told to shoot Jitsui. Fukumoto from afar shoot to the lieutenant who ordered Hatano to shoot, creating a diversion so Hatano didn't have to shoot anyone.
The stage game was subbed and I think you can find torrents still sending them so I recommend watching it.
While I don't agree with all the choices they took (they claimed it was based on the anime but it's a lot more based on the early manga released way prior to the anime) it's still a good work and fun to watch. Thank you for your ask!
Idk if you’re still active but I still had to drop a msg bc I wish I saw your tumblr years ago when I first watched Joker Game. It was so cool to encounter all of your detailed character profiles and I loved every one of them. 😭 JG is an anime that is so dear to my heart and your account is now part of that too!
*blushes* I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed my profiles and my Tumblr!
JG is an anime special for me and so I'm delighted to hear there's someone else who loves it and enjoys my posts about it!
Hi JGfiles! Have you seen the announcement of the third stage play adaptation that's gonna take place in November? I'm so excited, I haven't been able to sit still!
A THIRD STAGE ADAPTATION?!? THAT'S SO GREAT!
I couldn't just stay still and I went to check and I found they even made a new art which includes even Sakuma and Miyoshi!
Now if only they were to resume the anime... or translate the second stage... But still this is so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I remember correctly, back when this fandom was still popular, every certain date Japanese fans liked to celebrate a character's birthday or celebration day(especially on twitter) with fanart of the celebrated character. I think they made the date using Goroawase. For example Sakuma March 9th(3月9日) and Miyoshi March 4th (3月4日). I only remember their date, especially now that few people still celebrate it. The date used is not their episode release date. So I don't remember the other dates.
Do you know or remember about this Head canon?
Ps : Thank you for all your great contributions in this fandom ♡
All I can remember was the SakuMiyo week which would go from from March 4th to March 9. I honestly don't know if there were other dates.
Tazaki would get a bit of celebration on August 10 because it was pidgeon day.
I can't remember any other though, sorry about it. If someone else can though, they're welcome to add to this post! Thanks for your ask and please keep loving Joker Game!
Hi! I was wondering if you were planning to continue your fanfiction stories for Joker Game? I loved all your stories and they're so detailed and it made me fall deeper into the fandom. If not, it's okay since life is super busy and stuff but if you still are, that would be amazing to hear! Also, thank you so much for all you've done for this page; it is the beating heart of this fandom and a page for anyone interested in Joker Game to drown themselves in.
First of all sorry for the late reply. Somehow I missed your message. I would love to continue my fanfictions about Joker Game but I don't know if I'll manage to do so but it makes me really happy to know someone is still interested in them as I poured a lot of love in those stories.
I'm also delighted to hear you love this Tumblr, Joker Game remains for me a special series and if I can share my love for it with other people it makes me really, really happy!
dear jgfiles, the best account to ever exist: mayhaps you know where I can read the manga?? the link in your bio isn't working and I'm desperate 😔 oh i love joker game so much!!
anyways thank you so much for your hard work. i wanted to send you some kind words anyways. your account is truly a blessing!! 🩶
*blushes so hard*
I should probably warn you neither version of the Joker Game manga got fully translated and for neither there's an official version, which is why I've decided to share the scanlated links.
D no Maou, the first manga about Joker Game, done before the anime was even released and vaguely based on the novels (it takes lot of artistic freedom changing things from the novels), counts 3 volumes. Only 7 chapters were translated and you can see them here. The fan translation was based on the Chinese fan translation if I'm not wrong.
Joker Game The Animation, the manga done with the aim of turning into manga the anime adds some little scenes but more or less follows faithfully the anime and counts 5 volumes for a total of 23 chapters. Only 10 chapters are available on scanlations websides even though I'm sure scanlations reached 14 chapters. You can find the chapters here. If you go through my tag Joker Game Manga you might find some extra bits translated by me. It's an amatorial translation but it's still interesting to read.
There's a third manga which was based on Joker game the movie but it was never scanlated nor official raws were found so I don't know how to help with that one.
Said all this I really wish someone were to resume translating the mangas because they're still worth being read.
I hope this help! Please spread the love for Joker Game as it's a beautiful series!
Why is it good?: A video with an amazing editing and a fun atmosphere. You would never guess which kind of series "Joker Game" is from this kind of video but everything just works so well here that even if it feels like a parallel world it's just perfect.
Why is it good?: This video is amazing. Not only the scenes well match the lyrics and the music but it just manages to hit you with so many feelings! It's just that great, it's worth to watch even if you don't know the anime at all.
Hi! Recently I has memories of JG from 8 years ago, and I was reviewing all the material from the series again. I remembered something that I haven't found again, and I thought you could help me. On YouTube I got to see "extra" songs from the anime in addition to the opening and ending, I don't know what CD it was from because shortly after they removed it from YT, but I remember it said something like "Magic". Since it was in japanese, I don't know if it was the name of the song, or if it was played by the "Magic of Life" band. Do you know anything about that or I'm confused? Thanks for reading and I'm sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language;;;;
Let's see...
the first thing with Magic that comes to my mind is the ending "Double" sung by "Magic of life"
In the cd single for "Double" there was another song sung by "Magic of Life", "Impression" (インプレッション).
It wasn't used in the anime but since it was in the single for the ending song you might have gotten the feeling it was in the anime.
I couldn't find a strumental track with magic in it.
If it can help I can list the tracks in the main cd

Aah, I see. I actually wanted to discuss these headcanons with you, who are familiar with the Joker Game, like, do you think the D Agency continued to exist after WWII? Will the agency continue to accept new students? Will Kaminaga teach them, along with othersㅡexcept Amari? Or will the agency close and they return to being ordinary people, working as ordinary people, such as university lecturers or business owners? When do you think the agency will quit operating? Etc, etc. This is just for my fanfic, so I understand if you object. I deeply apologize for the trouble. 😖🙏🏻
It's no trouble at all! Fanfic authors should help each other!
Now... I think since D Agency was based on the real life Nakano school, it likely followed it's fate, especially since D Agency was part of the Japanese Army, Japanese Army which ended up on being disbanded in 1947.
Likely D Agency too ended up on being first having its spies used by the allies then being officially dismantled, at least as an Army spy agency.
Now... Nakano School had over 2500 graduates before it was closed... and in the novel D Agency too has more graduates than our 8 spies, which were merely the first batch it produced (and in the novel it produced 12 of them as a first batch).
It makes sense as Japan likely had more than 8 countries in which he needed to deploy spies so it would be pretty weird for D Agency to stop at 8.
We might headcanon D Agency produced more spies but as war started taking a turn for the worst they were pressured into doing a rushed job so the first 8 are the ones that were above every other batch... which means Yuuki might have wanted to save those spies from being discovered by the allies so they could keep on working for Japan in the shadows.
Hence he goes in hiding and, in a way, his spies go in hiding too, the new agency being no more part of the army and even more secretive than the old one... with Kaminaga as the new boss and, possibly, Sakuma as their official front (kind of like something similar to his role as liaison, a connection between the spies and the government).
And, of course, they'll have to train more people because otherwise they'll end up very understaffed... Amari can still be a spy but since he's in a wheelchair he can't be an action man and Jitsui left with Yuuki so, while he's probably working with him, he's not under Kaminaga either. With Miyoshi being dead, even if one assume Sakuma decided to become a spy now, it's still a very small number of spies, they wouldn't accomplish much.
Or, of course, we can assume our beloved spies stopped being spies... or maybe some of them did and some did not. It can be fun to picture what they would do were they decide to quit being spies!
I'm quite fond of this video which speculates Sakuma had a normal life after the war but the spies are still around even if the building where D Agency was had been destroyed.
I guess it can be up to what you prefer and to how you see the characters. You can make your story as close to real life as you want or part from it drastically. You can even have the spies become spies for another country... or they all die... and maybe reincarnate like in this video.
There's also people who speculated miyoshi survived... and a doujinshi series which claim Miyoshi became a ghost and Sakuma become a spy and took over Miyoshi's spy name (the spies don't use their true names but fictional names so Miyoshi's name isn't really Miyoshi).
I don't know if what I said gave you some useful ideas but I hope so and that you'll write a wonderful fic! Good luck with it!
Hello, I spotted this picture on your profile. I'm curious how long the D Agency has been open? Who is responsible for teaching there? Did Yuuki and Jitsui die because they shared Miyoshi's position? Thank you!
I think...
my timeline for "Joker Game" might help you.
Anyway D Agency was founded in 1937, autumn. Around that same time Sakuma was ordered to become the liaison but, before going there he had to wait for his hair to grow longer so he went there in 1938 April and witnessed the exams of the various spies until only eight of them remained.
Well, according to the novels from which the anime is based:
"The training in the D-Agency was full of diversity.
For example, the students had been instructed on using explosives and wireless signals, the operation of automobiles and planes, as well as learning various languages and dialects. They had received lectures from professors of renowned universities on organizational theories, religious studies and international political theories. Lessons on medical science, pharmacy, psychology, physics, chemistry and biology were also given.
Abstruse discussions about ideologists and strategists such as Sun Tzu, Kant, Hegel, Clausewitz, Hobbes, and more that Sakuma hadn’t even heard of, often happened between students. On the other hand, professional thieves and safe-crackers had been brought out of prison to instruct the trainees on the techniques and methods. Aside from being taught on how to pick a lock using a single wire, the students also received lessons on how to secretly switch items by sleight of hand as a magician would, dance and billiards techniques. Kabuki actresses had been hired to teach the students the art of disguise, while professional gigolos demonstrated how to seduce women.
All students had been required to swim in cold water while clothed, then travel to a location far away without sleep, and use complex ciphers, memorized only a day beforehand, fluently and naturally as the languages they usually speak.
The D-Agency had even trained them to be able to disassemble shortwave radios in complete darkness, and put them back together so that they were once again functional, relying solely on their fingertips. The students had also been ordered to seamlessly open envelopes with a bamboo stick, and instantly memorize words which had been written backwards and reflected in a mirror. Letters containing orders, no matter how complicated they are, were to be destroyed on the spot after they had been read; the students had also been trained to recover destroyed letters." [Joker Game Bool 1: "Joker Game" translation courtesy of @imayooshi]
Also Yuuki himself taught to the students as well.
The image you saw is an art from Shiro Miwa, "joker Game" character designer. It reflects his own headcanon about the future of the characters from "Joker Game".
Shiro Miwa said he assumed that, after the war Yuuki forced Kaminaga to take over the organization and disappeared with Jitsui and that Kaminaga kept on receiving instruction from an unknown address. He also said he picked up 1960 because it was a time of major changes in world affairs including the Vietnam war and Kennedy assassination.
Amari apparently ended up on a wheelchair and is being taken care of by Emma.
According to Shiro Miwa the one I speculated is Miyoshi (at the time I didn't have the book with the illustration and so I couldn't read what he wrote as that image was shared by @i-dedicate-this-kill-to-the-fans here) is someone else who got recruited by Yuuki while he was in hiding.
However this is just Shiro Miwa's headcanon. Due to lack of material many fans tend to accept it as canon but it's not really canon and if the series were to be continued in the future things could go differently (especially since Odagiri and, likely, Sakuma were both likely set up to die in war).
Hi, do you have any information on Yuuki profile i.e. intelligence and deduction and manipulation skills?
Hum...
You mean things like these?
No, they were never released so I don't have anything of the sort but Yuuki is clrearly written to max out all the factors as he's some sort of unbeatable super spy that crushes whatever adversary so feel free to give him a top score for everything.
