**Training Tip: How to Work Around Exercises that Don't Feel Right** Some days, life just doesn't go the way we want. Maybe you've been on your feet all day and know that that 90 min workout you've planned just isn't going to happen. Maybe the workout you did with your trainer is making your knee pain flare up. So what do you do when that happens? It's time to make a lateral move! A lateral move just means we swap out the "planned" exercise with a different one entirely. Moving sideways with your programming helps you stay on track to hit your goals while working on something else, or avoiding a painful joint or acute injury. If you want to build lean sexy muscle tone and lose fat, make sideways moves to fit the program around YOU, instead of fitting yourself around the program. If the program calls for squats, but you know squats hurt your knees...Don't squat. Swap it out for with another big-bang exercise that feels better for your body....maybe with a deadlift or glute bridge. If you only have 30 min to workout, go for exercises that use your entire body so you get more out of that 30 min! If you're doing your own thing at home or following a workout routine you found online, try some lateral moves on the exercises you struggle with and seek out a coach to help you with the other moves.
