I told my agent, ‘I wanna be Lando.’ That was exactly what I needed to hear, because I’m the person who’s not supposed to make it, so much so that I don’t think people recognize where I came from and what I’ve done. At a certain point, it does look easy. I do sometimes look like a Mary Sue. I was like, ‘Oh, okay, cool.’ I studied, I watched the movies a lot, and I killed it, because I was ready.
“Lando’s always the best-dressed person on that set. And I don’t say that lightly. There’s a lot of cool costumes and a lot of cool clothing. He takes pride in the clothing. It makes things easier. When people see you and you’re debonair, they tend to want to give you stuff easier.” - Donald Glover

You don’t want to disappoint anybody, but you know, you lose your voice by trying to please everyone.

remember when pedro took this pic of oscar and the world has somehow shifted
“People of color and women are increasingly being shown on-screen. For things to be whitewashed just doesn’t make sense. All the films I’ve done have had a secret commentary on stereotypical mentalities. It’s about getting people to drop a prejudiced state of mind and realize, ‘oh, shit, we’re just watching normal people.’
I recently was lucky enough to live out one of my childhood dreams and photograph Mark Hamill for The New York Times.

As a boy in school, Mr. Boyega struggled to find his niche after failing with soccer and the cello. But a knack for plays prompted him to start training at the nearby Theatre Peckham, where he played a trickster leopard in an adaptation of the Caribbean folk tale “Ansari the Spider” and also appeared in a production of “Shrek.” “I wasn’t Shrek, I wouldn’t put myself through that,” he said. “I played Donkey for the comic relief. I found that I would gain more fans doing that.”
