They say there is no value you could put on a selkie's skin—their soul and love made manifest, but Madara reckons otherwise. He knows exactly how much Tobirama’s skin is worth.

Utterly worthless, now, much like the creature that had been so insistent that he was Madara’s and that Madara was his.

Tobirama looks on, face red with rage and low, guttural growls sending every other creature in the aquarium fleeing to the furthest part of the tank, away from the mad predator in their midst.

“How dare you.”

But what does Madara care? It’s over. He is free.

The skin lies soulless on the floor as Madara walks away.

It is not the last he sees of Tobirama.

I wanted to post something for Mermay at least, before Mermay is up, but I been bogged with other projects.

The art is from ages ago, actually, an old au where Madara traps Tobirama with his skin while Tobirama claws his heart out that eventually developed into the Selkie divorce au (and hence no longer fit, but I felt bad for past me for having bothered to render most of it before the concept changed so much) The name remains, though, because Madara has still taken Tobirama’s heart and soul—he’s gotta take responsibility at least, instead of walking away from this world :))
