Gendering Chara, Kris or Frisk (and Gerson's they/them human spouse) as male or female whether it's an AU or not is nonbinary erasure.

The only AUs I've ever seen change the gender of cis characters is in gender swap AUs, yet everywhere else everyone is all about changing the little nonbinary representation we get. It's like they don't want to admit it bothers them that they're nonbinary.

All nonbinary means is a gender that isn't male or female. Agender/lack of gender falls under this as well. What happened to "genderless children"? Why do they have to be male or female? What if in Toby Fox's wacky world, humans don't even have the same concepts of gender we do, and reproduce differently?

They have yellow skin, for fuck's sake. Why is it a debate whether the traumatized yellow-skinned time-controlling death-defying humans can be nonbinary or not?

Toby has crossdressed before and has/had many transgender friends. He's the guy behind Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew, and the whole concept of enby at birth ghosts.

Why would he make every single they/them character, even ones you don't control, have their gender decided by the player? Especially when Gerson speaks of his former human spouse with only they/them.

Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). This meme format uses an aardvark to represent aromantic people. At the time, axolotls were often used in similar memes to represent asexuals, so the aromantic aardvark was chosen as the aromantic equivalent of the asexual axolotl. Aardvarks were considered to be somewhat of a mascot for the aromantic community for some time, though they have become less popular as a symbol in recent years.

it did not. it is public knowledge the slave trade worked like this

and in fighting antiblackness within canada and europe it is so so so important to acknowledge these places's participation in and benefit from the transantlantic slave trade. Slavery is not just the US's dirty past, it is a triangular industry lasting centuries that white people in the united states, canada, and europe benefitted from and continue to benefit from to this day. Slavery was good for white canadians and white europeans. They liked it. they encouraged it. they had slaves, they profited from the slave trade, and they used products grown from US slave labour in every day life. The slavery of Black people would not have been possible on the sheer scale at which it happened if it were not for active, consistent participation from europe and canada.
