Chiaki's Death, but more Sad

These Drawings were made on January 2025 for the video "Hymn to the Decadent Life-Chiaki Nanami" that is about the death of Chiaki Nanami in Dangaronpa 3 Despair Arc, but in a Au called "Dangaronpa Goodbye Despair + Lucky" where a change of actions (of Chiaki Nanami and Izuru Kamukura) changed the entire course of the original story of the Second Killing Game (and there are changes between Goodbye Despair and Despair Arc, this is why is called a Au).

(Explanation below)

Chiaki fought to survive her execution, knowing that if she didn't stop Junko, she would make her class suffer and become like her, who feel happiness and obsession in despair. I keep remembering how Chiaki says "I can't die", saying how she has so many things to do, helping her classmates and playing video games with Hajime.

In my AU, "Danganronpa Goodbye Despair + Lucky", she says this line also to indicate how she didn't want her friends to have a bad fate and wanted to prevent it...but she died with the guilt of not helping her class and Hajime.

And......Sorry for making her suffer more than she already did in the anime.

i don't know if you've talked about this before, but i've always wondered how mikan and nagito would bond regarding the fact that they both took parts of junko. how they felt about her personally, and what they did to themselves would probably make everything feel extremely weird but i think also strengthen their fucked up bond by a lot. i'm curious of your thoughts ^^

Of course, in my post-canon, everything hinges primarily on the fact that everyone had a fair amount of time to sort out their feelings about what happened and themselves (recovery from the simulation, according to my plan, took about a year and a half). Plus, each character didn't exist with these thoughts in a vacuum; they had the opportunity to discuss them with each other and try to figure out what to do next. Nagito and Mikan weren't the only ones who had a complicated relationship after awakening.

Another factor is that Mikan woke up much earlier than Nagito (in my mind, she was the very first one to awaken). And being among the survivors of the killing game, helping them awaken the others, she had time to process everything that happened between her and Junko. She also had time to bond with the survivors in this new environment. For example, Kazuichi maintained the capsules the others were in, Hajime handled the software, and Mikan monitored the health of all the sleepers. Their work brought them together. And then there's Fuyuhiko, who had Junko's eye, which (again, according to my idea) Mikan had initially implanted in him and then removed herself. And, of course, everyone had time to discuss how Junko had influenced them, how she had lured them to her side, and what to do about it all now.

It's only after a considerable amount of time that Nagito wakes up, the last one to do so. The first problem with him is that after the simulation and the full truth he knows, he simply refuses the treatment he needs. His health has deteriorated sharply due to various factors, and the problem needs to be addressed quickly. His relationship with Mikan begins with a conflict, where she deliberately provokes him aggressively to force him to begin treatment. Afterward, they don't speak for a long time while Mikan and Hajime explore ways to make Nagito's therapy most effective.

ONLY AFTER ALL THIS, when Nagito's mind has been brought back to a relatively calm state, he and Mikan begin to gradually talk and sort things out. What Junko meant to them then, and what she means to them now, after all this.

This may have been a confusing answer, but I hope I've managed to clarify this point at least a little.
