The goatpocalypse is upon us. (via KTVBJoe)
Updates have since come on this subject; we now know where the goats came from and I gotta tell you, it is better than you could possibly imagine. See.
These goats got loose from a goat rental service.
You may be thinking, who rents a goat? Who rents a hundred goats? What are they for?
Theyâre for eating.
Specifically, theyâre for eating unwanted, flammable vegetation that can contribute to the spread of wildfires. Some people whose property tends to grow such vegetation, keep their own goats. But for some people it works out better to just rent some goats.
So.
These are Professional Eating Goats. They are trained to thoroughly and methodically scour an area of plantlife. And they came to the suburbs.
And they did their jobs.
Iâm so proud of them.
i need to know how to rent a goat in my area
@madeofeyebrows I think
I think I found your dream job.
BE FREE MY BOYS
Lately, Iâve been seeing a lot of those âAmerica is officially a Nazi stateâ and âAmerica is doomedâ posts. If you call yourself a progressive and youâve made, reblogged, or liked a single one of those posts, listen up.
It isnât over.
The American midterm elections are coming up â all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and about 1/3rd of the seats in the Senate are up for grabs in November 2018. These are the people who are responsible for passing laws, regulating the power of the Executive and Judicial branches, and handling the impeachment process (you know, not that weâd need that soon or anything).
There is no electoral college in the way of midterm elections, and historically midterms have lower turnout than presidential elections.
YOUR VOTE IN THE MIDTERMS WILL MAKE AN IMPACT.
If you will be 18 by November 6, 2018, YOU CAN REGISTER TO VOTE, even if youâre 17 now. Registering to vote is so easy. Last week I rode my bike down to my countyâs administration building, walked in without an appointment, asked where I could register, and walked out five minutes later as a legal voter. It took me longer to get to the building than it took to register.
Qualifications vary by state, so you might have to do some digging on the information youâll need, but if I can figure out how to register on my own, you can do it as well.
âIâm disabled/too busy working/attending school outside of my state/cannot vote for some reason.â ABSENTEE BALLOTS. THEY EXIST. USE THEM.
âI donât have the legal rights to vote.â You probably have friends who do, but arenât likely to vote in the midterms. Give them a friendly reminder of how much power the House and the Senate have.
âThe President will just ignore the House and the Senate, like he has been doing the last two years. The systemâs rigged. Itâs hopeless.â The House and the Senate are both currently Republican majorities. You havenât seen the House and the Senate push back yet because they donât have Democratic majorities. If you are qualified to vote, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHANGING THE AMOUNT OF POWER THAT THE HOUSE AND SENATE HAVE.
If you call yourself an activist and want to brag about how much you care about immigrants on Tumblr, you WILL be in the polling booth this November. If you still donât care about voting, I donât know why youâre posting about politics at all.
Learn your system, understand your power, and vote in the damn midterms.
to add to this, young voter turnout is generally abysmal but thanks to organizing and canvasing weâre seeing a rise in young voter turnout. Additionally, younger people tend to vote progressive! so donât just go vote yourself, CONVINCE YOUR FRIENDS TO VOTE. The biggest goal for the democratic party is to get MORE voter turnout, not just trying to get fence sitters to pick them.Â
GET YOUR FRIENDS TO VOTE.Â
Hey I just found out about The Protomen and I fell in love with Act II and also drew a meme
fUCKING HELL
Scientists invented fabric that makes electricity from motion and sunlight. To create the fabric, researchers at Georgia Tech wove together solar cell fibers with materials that generate power from movement. It could be used in âtents, curtains, or wearable garments,â meaning weâd virtually never be without power. Source
Y'all are fucking idiots. Clean energy will NEVER be enough to replace the energy we have now. Weâd have to tear down DOZENS of forests just to fit enough windmills and solar panels to get even a QUARTER (probably less, tbh) of the energy we can produce now.
Yeah, sure, when theyâve already calculated that a few square miles of panels in the empty ass Arizona desert could power the whole nation. But ok, fracking and the diminishing petroleum supply is worlds better.
Nevermind that windmills are often most efficient off the coast. There they take up no land, impact no trees, donât pollute the water, and are conveniently located where winds are often strongest anyway.
And solar panels can literally be built into roofs of buildings and in empty areas like deserts. The sun strikes the Earth with the same amount of energy in an hour that our civilization uses in a year.
But yeah, it would be impossible for us to ever have enough energy from clean sources.
Durr hurr technology is bad and I would rather light shit on fire than have clean energy
I can also testify to the Arizona desert being empty ass. And the California desert. And the Nevada desert.Â
alsoâŠno forests were cleared to make space for Denmarkâs windmills and yet they regularly produce so much power that it covers almost all of the countryâs power needs. Oh, and then thereâs the times when the windmills generate 140% of Denmarkâs power needs. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/jul/10/denmark-wind-windfarm-power-exceed-electricity-demand
Friendly reminder that oil pipelines are a scam.
The fact that anyone can believe a limited amount of dinosaur oil is more plentiful and efficient than moving air or fucking sunlight is proof that entire populations can be completely brainwashed.
my love for you is like a truck
this took way too long
everyone in the comments: I know. I was gonna make the same joke when I originally made it but I didnât for some reason.
Iâm not even gonna pretend I wouldnât watch every episode of this.
The tone and the absolute Nihilism of this video terrifies me beyond reason
he did that!
Okay but yâall this dudeâs videos are pretty great if youâre into maker/crafts porn
my spring film is finally up on vimeo!Â
Ey so like... whenâs this getting a full series?
every culture has a little dish that just translates to âwe threw everything into that fucking pot weâre poorâ
Funny enough, shrimp and grits used to be that dish, and then folks who live far from the ocean decided that shrimp was a delicacy and should be expensive and now shrimp and grits isnât that dish any more.
Same with lobsters here. They used to be poor peopleâs food. People would till them into the soil for fertilizer. Not anymore.
Yup. Lobster used to be considered just a half a step above cockroaches. People facing execution would request as their last meal âanything but f***ing lobster.â But it cost money to get it inland, and rich people who didnât live on the shore decided that it must be fancy because of the cost, and now even people living in historic lobster-fishing areas canât always afford it.
Capitalism Ruined Good Food: A MasterPost.
