My strategy thus far on this self imposed art residency has been to just make a start on as many images as possible and not be too fixated on how to finish them so I can just keep the momentum going, since making a start is often the hardest bit. A week of client work has made me change gears a bit and now the taskmaster in me is feeling like I should probably put the reigns on and start finishing them before moving on with anything for fear of being surrounded by half finished Frankenstein monsters - or at the very least to have some kind of proof of concept so it doesn’t look I’m just living my best life partying in this cyberpunk paradise of Bangkok (which I am also doing). For artists/illustrators Instagram is meant to be this platform where you spam your best work so people are reminded that you exist and hopefully use you for something and give you money but I’ve realized I’ve just been posting rough as hell work in progress instead and wonder if people are beginning to think that’s what my work actually looks like but I mostly just don’t want to give away what any of the final work looks like because I’m planning to exhibit it later and also I think process is often at times more interesting and people can learn from it.
