I’ve noticed in general that people seem to not understand the concept of “I don’t know how to open up anymore” or whatever.

You ever clenched your fists tight for a long time for any reason? Like having to carry something heavy? And then you try to open your fingers but they don’t work for a second or two — almost like you forgot how to open your hand? And when you start peeling them away from your palm, it HURTS LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER!

That’s what being a closed off person is like. We had to close ourselves off out of necessity and we often have to stay that way for a long time. “Just open up” like it’s easy is what people say when they’ve not ever felt the need for any reason to keep people away from them.

You go silent long enough, it almost feels like you have to re-learn how to talk. And it’s exhausting. It’s exhausting and painful trying to figure out how to open doors that have practically rusted shut when it feels like most of humanity isn’t worth the effort of searching for the WD40.
