This is one of the comics I made to bring people’s attention to my friend’s fundraiser.
Rawan is a 22-year-old woman living in northern Gaza with ten members of her family, including her elderly grandmother, her 5-year-old sister, and her new sister-in-law has also been added to the family. Food is still expensive in their area, and the presence of certain foods (eggs, meat, vegetables, fruits) at the markets is very inconsistent. They also have to pay rent for their apartment so they won’t have to live in a tent again.
Since barely any building materials are being allowed into northern Gaza even to this day, reconstruction hasn’t started yet and life is struggling to resume. Jobs are rare. Rawan hopes to find online jobs abroad once she gets her engineering degree, but for now she’s struggling to finish university without electricity or a stable internet. She has to pay $50 a day for wifi in a café or workspace.
On top of that, one of her brothers was recently injured in a missile strike. They’ve had to buy him crutches and a $500 used bed for his back, as well as strong painkillers and antibiotics.
