a verbal description of a far side comic is indistinguishable from a fine shitpost
far side comics are just visual shitposts
Often imitated, never replicated.
the best part of this post is that one of the comics is some ancient image with 1-bit colour and has probably been on the internet for decades
cats (2019, dir. tom hooper)
sci fi is about one thing and one thing only.....actors throwing themselves around a room to simulate the ship being hit
every night as i fumble to plug my phone into its charger i think of how bbc sherlock holmes would classify me as an alcoholic
this is the future liberals want
This is exactly what I want.

hot new thing: painting almost photorealistic pokemon into photographs
dont know what the painting part of this means but heres some normal photographs ive taken, with my camera
With your camera? How… how did you get the first shot, on the outside of the plane?

Juggalos are a great example of how disenfranchised white people dont have to turn to racism to feel included or listened to. Like they could just be juggalos and we could all live in peace.
this timeline is a fucking trip
the enemy of my enemy is down with the clown.
cats are so beautiful and loving…. when they paw at you and ask u to pet them.. when they purr and close their eyes in content… a warm loaf … when they knead on you… thinking YOU are the bread… stupid… they are the bread… i love cats… so much….
I wonder if that disastrous original script for the Holes movie, which was written by the guy who wrote Donnie Darko, is still in circulation on the internet. It was insane.
Like the landscape was all barren not because of a curse but because there’d been a nuclear apocalypse and subsequent plague, and Stanley went to prison camp not because he stole a pair of shoes but because he mercy-killed his own plague-riddled sister. And Pendanski sneaks the boys out to take them to a truckstop bar and buys them prostitutes. And it’s revealed at the end that the conspiracy of the camp is that they’re digging for, not buried treasure, but old nuclear warheads. And there’s a running theme about how “you can’t bury the past.”
I mean the scope and intensity of the changes made to make it more “adult” were pretty clever, but so unnecessary. The fairy tale-esque whimsy was so integral to the story and such a part of its charm that making it darker kind of defeated the entire purpose
I can only imagine the Nickelodeon execs reading this script in open-mouthed horror, and then a long silence before they went “well what if we just got the guy who wrote the book to write it”
well, turns out this is real
it amazes me that people can say a black person (who lives in the south) making music about horses and farming with their prominent southern accent doesn’t count as country music because it incorporates (t)rap but white people can say some words fast and they kinda rhyme and all of a sudden they’re a rapper. somehow country music is sacred when it’s literally just music made in the country with a southern twang but rap is up for grabs for everyone despite its deep cultural and racial significance and ties
it really is ok to be Basic™, ya know?
scented candles are comforting and nice, sweet coffee drinks and black coffee drinks are both valid, romcoms are called “feel good” for a reason and you can watch them to feel happy it’s not a crime, decorate your room with fairy lights, drink hot cocoa with marshmallows, listen to that cd that everyone talks about and that you hear playing in the Starbucks all the time, popular things become popular because a lot of people like them and it’s ok to also like those popular things it doesn’t make you boring. I could go on but you know what I mean.
your interests and simple pleasures are meant to entertain you, not meant to make you look entertaining to others.
if you enjoy Basic™ things then embrace that enjoyment. that’s for you. enjoy it.
reminder to enjoy being Basic™ today and always
four years ago, I was miserable. my heart was always heavy. tears were constantly threatening to spill out of my eyes. anxiety had made a home burrowed in my stomach. I was afraid I would feel sad forever. when you are at the lowest of lows, so accustomed to spending your days aching, it’s difficult to imagine things being any other way; I know that sounds cheesy, but it is beyond true.
I am so thankful for where I’m at today. I never fathomed I could be so at peace, so in love with life and in love with who I am becoming. I’m accomplishing goals, making money, and visiting places. I have a healthy relationship with a boy and more importantly, a healthy relationship with me. I strive to better myself every single day. to grow, to learn, to give, and to make positive changes however I can.
the moral of the story: keep going. time will heal you. happiness is possible. I promise. (that being said, you can’t heal in the same places you’ve been hurt. stop returning to toxic people, toxic situations. put yourself first!)
