The new #voguechallenge is the #reset theme, bringing nature to the forefront of the images 🍃✨ . I took this photo on my road trip last year. I took lots of pictures, this challenge reminded me to go through them and share a few with the world 🌎 I’ve been editing while listening to @jimmychin on @masterclass getting me excited for whatever adventure comes next. I have always liked taking photos in nature, it gets me outside and I better learn my camera & nature 📷 Enjoy! . This was a fun quarantine challenge! When I was ordered to take a week off I went to some of my old favorite shopping places; flea markets, thrifting, consignment and bizarres... this is the outfit I unconsciously put together; comfy pants, awesome velvet adjustable height boots, a sweater so bright it hurts to look at, a flashy punk belt, giant earrings that make pretty sounds when they move, a mirrored head piece, a jewelry hammer and some trustworthy axes. It’s summertime and I haven’t been posting lots but lots has been happening! I’ve been assisting on some public art while also working on some new projects with @ruformdesignstudio & @kearyrosen I’m excited to bring more tech into my fashion. Every thing here is made by me and has a story (& fundraiser) on the way. The general idea is to incorporate conceptual fashion / healing / technology into wearable avant-garde works of art. Here it is! The first thing I made myself on a sewing machine (that I borrowed from a cousin in high school.) I was obsessed with this album when it came out... and I still love it! Up to this point I would hand sew everything I made, which was mostly various period clothing for my dolls (they were so easy to sew for! Plus I needed so little fabric- I would cut swatches from clothing & sheets hanging around the house where I thought it might not be noticeable if a piece was missing. Sorry Mom! ⬅️ She noticed 😂) Then I started finding cool brocade curtains at thrift shops, and I was inspired by Mammy from Gone With The Wind and her curtain & dress making skills. I sewed (by hand) a few historical period pieces for fairs, dress up and (for most of grade school) I would try to recreate Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfit from Hocus Pocus each Halloween. By 8th grade someone finally got it! (Proof my sewing skills were improving, and that I should keep it up! ☺️) And thanks to @radiohead I am so glad I got to see them twice this past week, such a surprise! (my teenage self would be freaking out! My adult self was-just way more contained) For real tho, they were the first band to make me question the integrity of government (so did RATM) and question things deeper then before. I know Thom York can be hard to understand, every time I got a new album I would read all the lyrics to try and understand it all; the sounds, the message in the words... I even have some books on this 🎼 Now it’s time to get back to sewing and singing my dreams into reality! I hope you all do the same! Have a great, restorative Sunday! ✨Happy 4th of July!✨ Throwback to @philly_fashion_week with @theycallmenaty This was an important show. In the front of the gown features antique lace. The stripes bleed at the end of the gown; a subtle reminder of the history, sacrifices, and the nimbleness of freedom. She was followed by a model in stilts wearing a 10’ tall red dress; visually continuing where the stripes left off. I have so much more to say about this but perhaps another time. What else can I say today? I’m extremely grateful for everyone that has supported my artistic expressions. I look forward to continuing to grow and seeing others grow.
