maya’s head tilts into the gentle touch of her fingers through her tresses and she gazes at her with a gentle admiration. “ looks that way, huh? “  she chuckles inaudibly and glances to the ground for a moment before lifting her gaze back to meet jillian’s. her arms wrap around the taller girl’s neck and her oceanic hued gaze locks on the blonde’s.  “ if you want to be. i know i want you to be. “

it had been such a long time since jillian has ever belonged to anyone, thanks to the wall that jillian had built and fortified around herself. she forced herself to stick to the causal to keep herself from facing yet another heart break because she couldn’t really face having another one. so when slipped out of the other girl’s mouth, about wanting her, jillian’s once brash and confident demeanor drastically changed for the worst. “someone like you cannot want someone like me. ” she quietly said, her eyes darting down not daring to stare the other girl’s deep eyes. “you do not want me.”

a blush creeps over her normally paler skin and she ducks her head a bit. her teeth are bitten together and there is a pause before maya actually responds.  “ n— nope.  just chip. “  she tells her, then looks up to jillian with a tilted smile.

a smirk appeared on the blonde’s face as she stepped closer to the smaller girl, her hand coming up to comb her fingers throughout the brunette locks of maya’s. “so that must mean my confidence is finally rubbing off on you.” jillian lets out a airy chuckle, secretly hoping that is all that rubs off on her. “so... i’m yours now, huh?”

“i’ve never really been much for when it comes to friends.ask anyone around frostford and they will tell you that i’m not the friendship kind of person. however the only friend that i had and then lost would probably have to be the last ex anything i had. the same one that decided to dump my amazing ass because i was ready and she was not. so that’s my story.”

jillian couldn’t help but burst out in laughter. “you can’t expect to dress a child if you think that you dress just fine.” she pointed out as her eyes raked the boys outfit, shaking her head at his idea of fine. “are you sure you don’t want me to dress you instead? i have always loved a much needed makeover.”

“i always dress to impress.” jillian shrugged as she walked up to the desk, reaching into her purse and grabbing out a wet wipe; tossing it over to him. no way was he clean after using that disgusting rag. “i’m actually here to see you actually, my terrible excuse of a car didn’t start today. figured you could take a look at it seeing as you’re the only person i can stand around here.”

“You respond to the disrespect of any ol’ person on the street?” He asks scathingly, goading. He reeks of alcohol. This is a slip-up self-loathing day and he’s hoping to find himself in a dumpster in the morning. “Because let me tell you, you’re pretty damn easy to get under the skin of.”

jillian shrugged her shoulder, practically smelling the alcohol on his breath. she knew that scent all too well, after all it was a scent that she herself has hand on many occasions. however, this was one of those rare occasions that she found herself to be the sober one. “i normally don’t, but if they insult me then-- yes they get a rise out of me. so please, allow me to say this once more. that that childish insult back.”

“how do you deal with the kids?”  mattie asked with a sigh as she slumped into the seat in the church auditorium.  she knew that she wasn’t so bad when she was in school, but handling the audition process seemed daunting once she was looking at the script in front of her.  least it was gonna be taking place after the christmas pageant.  “i feel like they’re going to be trouble.”  but helping out with any and all local shows was as close to being on stage as she was going to get soon.  even if it was just the school productions.  

auditions had always been the hardest time for jillian, it reminded her of the time when she had actually been happy; the only time that she felt alive. sure, its was entertaining to see how kids these days believe that after watching one movie they can act, but it still really just fucked her up. iillian was taken out of her thoughts as she laughed reaching into her purse and grabbed a flask, tossing it over the girl next to her. even in church her alcoholic tendencies still managed to get the best to her, at least on the bright side she was deciding to share it instead of keeping it all to herself.  “that is how i deal with them, might have a bit of a hangover afterwards-- but it gets the job done.”

It was another night after his monotonous job and the town was dead, typical on a Wednesday night after eight. The only thing that would keep him distracted and give him an excuse to drink was the weekly trivia night hosted at Bootlegger’s. He clicked his tongue as his friend texted him they were no longer coming and shoved his phone back into his pocket. Fuck. Can’t be alone at a bar on a week night again, his dad would hear about it. How pathetic that Isaac still had to worry about what daddy would think, he thought bitterly. 

He turned to the person next to him ordering a drink at the bar. “Hey, wanna make a trivia team with me? You apparently need more than one person to be a ‘team,’” he said, playfully rolling his eyes. “I’ll even let you pick the team name.”

jillian gave the guy her signature stink eye when he so rudely interrupted her drinking time for something as stupid as a trivia game night. she knew she should had went to the watering can just like she had always done ever since she came back to this town five years ago, but no she had to go here just because of the stalker she had slept with one time. “as fun as you think that is, im going to pass. i much prefer to drink alone, not play mindless games where you win absolutely nothing besides the shame of knowing that you are indeed the biggest loser in the room just because you know a little bit more about childish movies than the rest of us,” she told the man harshly, taking a sip of her gin.

jillian couldn’t help let out a laugh at the girl’s situation, not only at the fact that the girl believed that she cared about her situation but the fact she was even in that situation. it was actually moments like this that she was glad that her mom decided to leave her along time ago. “you keep complaining like that about your mom sweetie, then i doubt any man would wanna marry let alone have your children.”

jillian stepped up to the stranger, smacking his finger away roughly. “okay you have exactly thirty seconds, and mind you those are a very quick thirty seconds, to take that back or im going to use your face as my personal welcoming mat.”

          ‘ yeah, at least he is learning his manners.  some aren’t even bothered. ’     he said, having encountered so many different types of kids during his albeit short time teaching at the elementary/middle school.     ‘ hearing such thing from a teacher could have affected their personality a lot though, you never know.  always gotta be my best around them.  or try, at least  –  they say the best teacher is a good actor, after all. ’     he said with a kind smile, giving a small shrug.     ‘ i know, you never know what to expect from them. ’

“that probably explains why some adults now are still unable to chew with their mouths closed.” jillian rolled her eyes as she felt the shivers down her spine, just picturing the thought of someone doing that disgusted her “oh please, i think hearing it from someone will be helpful. i don’t care if that makes me the best teacher or the worst. being brutally honest is best for anyone child or not.” she never really cared much what people thought of her, so saying that just forced a shrug out of her. “you never do, but its entertaining to find out.sometimes.”
