I think why Penelope/Marissa kept tabs on Lockwood & Co. so much was because she thought that Lockwood would be like his parents. I think she was scared he would try and succeed to solve the Problem. And when she learnt that he didn’t care at ALL she was like, “Never mind.” But when she learnt (from Ezekiel?) that Lucy was like HER she was interested and scared. She was scared Lucy would find a Type Three like her and learn all the secrets of the Other Side. What she didn’t bet on most of all was George.
if i said this is an intentional class critique…lockwood being on her radar as a member of a privileged class and considered a reasonable variable to watch for versus lucy and george being lower class and therefore not legitimized (an additional commentary on the commodification of talent/skill under capitalism, a system lucy&george intentionally opt out of)
