I Finally Broke Down and Watched The Winchesters
I believe Jensen had good intentions from the start; that he wanted to give us more of the Supernatural world of hunters and creatures because he knows we want it. I believe he trusts the people involved to do this show correctly. And I believe that's where he screwed up.
I don't think Jensen has much input as we were led to believe. I think he's busy with other projects and trusting other people to do this show justice. I think the primary input is coming from Danneel given that The Winchesters is to Supernatural what her outfits generally are to fashion - a joke.
This prequel has become nothing more than a live-action Scooby Doo knockoff, and John Winchester is not Fred. John Winchester is Scooby Doo.
That said, I can continue to watch season one, in hopes of it getting better, by utilizing my own head canon that this is another universe that Chuck created before he went psycho on everything and everyone.
I wish Jensen the best of luck and hope he gets a new production team in time to save this show. Besides, no matter what happens in The Winchesters, Supernatural will always be the Epic Love Story of Sam and Dean.
Am I continuing to watch purely because of Jensen? Yes. BUT I only gave Walker a shot purely because of Jared. They're my boys and always will be.
@raina16 You do you, Scrappy Doo. You have your opinion, and I have mine.
