Honey Buckle

I created a satchel/purse out of Honey Nut Cheerios cereal boxes. I used these cereal boxes because as a child I always loved cereal and as a college student I have found that a midnight bowl of cereal is a great snack. I also think that cereal differently tastes better at night than in the morning. I decided to create a flap on the purse to give it functionality and style. I found on the boxes a little Cinnamon Toast Crunch icon, (Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite!), and thought it could serve as a little button to close the satchel.

Better Things

My dreamscape is of a windowpane with a view of mountains in the background. The inspiration for my piece came from the song Such Great Heights by the Postal Service. One of the symbolic objects within my painting is the windowpane. Throughout my life I have seen many people do great things in their careers, education, etc. This has led to a feeling of being stuck, looking through a window and seeing others follow their passions. The other symbolic object are the little people at the top of one of the mountains The reason as to why I painted two little people at the top of one of the mountains is because the chorus of the song goes, “They will see us waving from such great heights, come down now”.  Another reason is because now I feel that I am one of those people who is following their passions in life and will also be capable of great things.

Cammie, this piece is beautiful. I really enjoy the texture of the pink/red/white background. This picture gives off such an interesting alien-ish vibe. :)

What drew me in the most was how bold the black shade is and I love how it guides my eyes from this simple road to a trippy world filled with bright color. the mood makes me feel so chill and calm.

I think this is so rad. The red background is so bold, it makes the sky pop. I love the vibe it gives off.

The color choice in this is really great and has full psychedelic energy. The painting in the middle reminds of Childish Gambino’s album cover for “Awaken My Love”. Great concept!
