Join me under the cut for a look back at one of the most moving chapters in the saga of Things Fall Apart™
The chapter began in the chaotic halls of Willow Creek Memorial Hospital. Jerri and Gabby's brand new baby boy, Jeremiah, had just been born, adding a little brother to the family for Jerriah - something she'd always wanted. Yet in the midst of the joy, tragedy was looming. Complications consumed Gabby and just outside of the hospital's back entrance, an ambulance had arrived without lights or sirens. The 28th chapter of Things Fall Apart begins here; with birth and death.
The roller coaster of emotions seemed neverending. As Gabby recovered a funeral was being planned for one of the most iconic characters in the saga. We'd later welcome two more family members and celebrate the wedding of our beloved Darren II and his high school sweetheart, Amaya.
As was the case in the beginning of this chapter, looming dread seemed to seep into every crevice of this chapter. A son with a deeply held grudge wasn't satisfied with how his father completed a long-held rivalry with an old foe. Rather, this son, Carlos Rivera, wanted justice for his late father. Panic spread through the eyes of every Drake family member as the realization that losing the patriarch could be a reality. On the heels of his father's funeral, Carlos was faced with a decision; he could avenge his father and take out the man who killed his uncle or he could make peace with fate and accept its finality.
The latter, however, was the hardest choice.
Time passed, milestones were met, love grew stronger but the past has a sneaky way of reminding us where we've been. For Hope, it was seeing her children have birthdays and becoming bright little kids full of joy and brilliance. This new life stage brought to Hope sweeping memories of her childhood best friend who died by his own hand. For Indya and subsequently Darren, it was learning that Carlos had not accepted the finality of fate. For Amaya, it was reliving the darkest moments of her life as a blonde-haired reminder of those moments appeared as a witness in what should have been a simple divorce case. For Indira, it was a photoshoot that would include a tech billionaire who also happened to be a close high school friend that took a turn for the worse at her expense.
Does the past ever really go away? Can we ever simply bury the experiences that have shaped us when the memories become too heavy? Does the past break up happy homes? Does it simmer? Does it seep?
How these characters handle the past - a character in its own right - will be something to watch as we begin yet another chapter of Things Fall Apart.
This concludes the 28th chapter of Things Fall Apart. The past, it appears, is coming back with a vengeance to haunt our dear main characters. Stay tuned for a chapter summary this week and reset, readjust and ready yourself for whatever chapter 29 will bring in this, the story that never ends.
If you are new to the story, or just wish to reacclimate yourselves, you can find the beginning and all subsequent chapters neatly sorted for your convenience here <-
You may recall Hope decided that, in lieu of a baby shower, she wanted her friends and family to send gifts to her baby cousin Jeremiah and her Auntie Gabby who were still hospitalized at the time.
She ended up planning a little meet and greet for her old high school and college girlies and her family. You may also recognize her sister-in-law who we haven't seen in awhile, Eva.
[DARLING]: Babe? Can you get the cash to pay Ben and leave it in the box? I forgot about this tattoo appointment.
[MORGAN]: Yeah, fine. But we have to talk about your hiring practices. What kind of crazy sim calls themselves The Ferryman?
[DARLING]: Ben does. Or B’Ollithiranon or whatever his application said.
[MORGAN]: See! This is what I’m talking about. What is his real name?
[DARLING]: I don’t know. He said he was “known by many names,” but he’s like really good at crowd control, so—
[MORGAN]: So nothing! That’s the craziest thing I've ever heard. I swear, if I weren’t here, you’d—
(Cam enters the shop)
[CAM]: Hello? Am I interrupting?
[CAM]: Sorry, you said this time was good. I appreciate you moving me up. I was stuck at the brunch from hell, and I needed an excuse to leave.
[DARLING]: No problem! When my girlfriend starts angry-cleaning the bar, I also need an excuse to leave. Let me show you the designs.
(Wolfgang enters the shop)
[WOLFGANG]: Holy shit, guys, I just saw my dream woman at Jadosi and—
[CAM]: And?
[WOLFGANG]: And I was gonna say she has literally the worst taste in sims and I didn’t even get her phone number, but that sounds really rude, and holy shit, why can’t I stop talking? I’m sorry!
[CAM]: No, it’s fine. They actually really suck as sims. Well, Courtney is great, and Caleb is nice, even if very pale and deeply weird. You’re not insulting me.
[WOLFGANG]: Good. Sorry for all the word vomit. So uh, you’re getting a tattoo? Darling is the best.
[CAM]: So I’ve heard. Do you want to hang?
[WOLFGANG]: Definitely!
(Cam and Wolfgang flirt and banter while Darling prepares to give her a tattoo. Outside the window, the Divine Creators watch)
[TIME]: Sims are so oblivious
[UNIVERSE]: I told you we should fix that, but you insisted.
(Darling is in the middle of giving Cam her tattoo; Morgan and Wolfgang are watching)
[DARLING]: Hey, babe, did you lock the doors?
[MORGAN]: Of course.
(Despite the doors being locked, the Divine Creators stroll right in)
[MORGAN]: Excuse me, ladies, those doors were locked.
[UNIVERSE]: As if some mechanical buzzer could keep us out.
[TIME]: Hello, Wolfgang! My, my, you are looking positively prescient. Let’s give ourselves some privacy.
(The Divine Creators freeze Morgan and Darling and leave them floating in the middle of the room)
[WOLFGANG]: Who are you?
[TIME]: Why, we’re the ones who gifted you that power, sugar. Your “raison d’être.” Your divine employers.
[UNIVERSE]: And we’ve been heralding our arrival for weeks now.
[WOLFGANG]: I…I don’t…I don’t know what that means. Is that an email?
They brought over most of their stuff from Nordhaven except for their pool table (rip). Because Rome is a design nerd and Mekhi loves vintage/old things the mid-century modern style fits them perfectly. It's sleek and cozy. They're art collectors too bc that's classy and how can you not when your own sister is an artist. My favorite part is the entry way though. Khi and Rome are pretty neat so even though there's clutter everything has a place. Except for the entryway. That's where Rome's architectural drafts and Mekhi's case files live. Just at the door, where they leave their work, before walking into their safe haven to relax and have a glass of wine.
HAUS : Artwork - a sims 4 custom content collection.
introducing the third part of my HAUS collection. as you can tell, this part focuses on artwork found all around the home. i tried to include three different styles that can also be used together. i wanted to focus just on the artwork for this set, as i find myself struggling to create artwork specific to each room.
i've created a vertical, horizontal & duo version of every style. each piece of art has been created by me on procreate ( with inspiration from pinterest of course ) and all simlish has been hand drawn also, as i like to try to replicate fonts i can't find elsewhere.
this set of course, is designed to be paired alongside my other HAUS sets - which can be found here & here.
Ayoshi has been wanting me to make some cornrows and I finally delivered with something gnarly. The hair ended up reminding me of Manon from Katseye (may she return). Enjoy! 🐈⬛
