Ponderings

In exactly two weeks my future will be a little more certain than it is now, and that is an odd feeling. On December 13th, I will either be accepted to the school of my dreams, or rejected. I have made peace with the possibility of rejection, and I am honestly just excited to see where I end up.

For so many years I have waited for "this time". For so many years I looked forward to running away from the place I've always known and starting a new chapter. Now that it's almost here, I realize that I am not running away (you can never really escape a part of who you are). I'm just growing up. And I see that in all of the people I know, too. Talking to old friends and not-so-old friends makes me realize how much time has passed and how much people change.

The best part about all of this is that in 10 or 20 years, I'll look back and see that this was when my future was starting to take shape. These moments are the foundation of my future. The decisions I make today will affect my life tomorrow, and that's a frightening prospect, but more so an exciting one.

I am hopeful for the future and intensely optimistic as always.
