Another attempt at toned paper and white chalk. Done at @manifestdrawingcenter tonight. This time I did not use wolf pencil and I tried to keep the white charcoal pencil away from the graphite. Figure drawing at manifest. Today I wanted to try using Wolff pencils and toned paper because of a YouTube video I saw. In the last 5 minutes I added white chalk. So thankful I was able to make it at the last minute for figure drawing at @manifestdrawingcenter tonight. Graphite in Bristol paper velum surface. 90 minutes with breaks. (It went quickly!). These are all quick drawings from a gesture / fast draw Figure session at Scottsdale art school on Wednesday. Some of them were 20 minutes others 10 others 5 minutes. One of them is in pencil that somebody gave me to use me because I said I prefer charcoal or pastel.

I was trying to get the proportions down quickly and not go back and fix them so that I would get better at getting the gesture and proportions right on the first read. I seem to be shrinking heads and and I could not get a good likeness in the face.

This is a figure drawing session from this weekend.

I don't really like it when theres props in the way. I tried to draw them out but in the end I decided the parts I made up didn't look right. As usual the contrast looks higher in the photo I took with my phone than it does in the original image.
