It's the quickest way to clock somebody who ain't never spoken nor heard AAVE used correctly in they life.

As a native AAVE speaker, 9 times outta 10 when a new term is created, it takes me no extra time to understand it, its context, and CORRECT usage ON MY OWN. Ain't nobody out here givin' lectures and shit for every new term.

This why Black ppl code switch. We not gone waste our breath speaking our dialect to the ppl who actively do not care about or respect it. It's nothing "fake" or "two-faced" about it. Code switching is so natural to me that i ain't even gotta think hard to do it. One moment I'm speaking with my non-Black friends, and when my mama call me in the middle of it, it's a seamless switch to AAVE and back.

It costs not a damn thing for white ppl to not butcher it or just don't plain try to attempt it. No, Hunter, you not for the streets. You grew up in an upper middle class New England suburb. You are, what's the white ppl word? A poser.

And to clarify, white ppl: Not all Black Americans speak AAVE, nor do every other person descended from the greater sub-saharan African diaspora across the globe do too. I'd say it's almost as if Black ppl aren't a monolith.

And it's not just AAVE. They been doin' it to Jamaican Patois too. I can't give specifics because I'm not culturally Jamaican nor have I grown up around a large Jamaican community. So if anybody straight outta Jamaica or part of the Jamaican diaspora with recent Jamaican immigrant relatives (like parents or grandparents) that live in the US got any input, that'd be very much appreciated.
