Re-creating John Winchester Journal

Hello! Here I will share all my progress on the journal of John Winchester. I'll share files, pictures, fonts and everything I used on my version of the journal.

Tab Dividers

Today i added the tab dividers with the months. I had to make them by myself because i guess its near to impossible to find one close to the original.

It was easier than I thought it'd would be tbh, i only used white eggshell paper 180gsm and my poor photoshop skills to create the layout.

John Winchester Handwritten font

Well i decided that it would be easier to print the pages with all the text already there. so to make things easier i also created a font inspired on john's handwritten! It also comes with numbers and a few other special characters.

It's not perfect but i'll also let it available on my google drive!

Base pages / weekly planner 1990

John uses on his journal a sort of weekly planner from the 90's, and of course i had to recreate them as well.

We don't see all days of all months on the show so i didn't bother myself to make the full version. I'll let available a modifiable psd file on my drive that you can change the dates and also the other pages like the 'expense detailer', 'weekly expense report', 'project update' and a lined page.

Articles pics

As i promised, here it is, all the articles i've done so far.

I just wanted to say that some of them might not look EXACTLY like the originals, so don't judge my photoshop skills.

Paper and articles

So, i have started this project a few weeks ago, and so far i've recreated most of the articles that are on the journal, and yes, of course i will share here all of them.

Well, as you can see the articles and pieces of paper are old and to make them look like old paper i had to make an old recipe i used to make when i was a kid for aging paper which is actually very simple.

All you're going to need is coffee and white paper 75gsm. You basically just need to mix the coffee powder with water, soak the paper for a while and carefully hang it up to dry.

After dried it will look like this and then you can print the articles on them.

The journal

For starts i bought on amazon the "John Winchester Replica Journal" as i couldn't find a journal that looked like his and i certainly don't have the skills to sew one.

However, this one doesn't come with many pages or articles, it's just a few pages of John writing somethings after mary died that i'm not even sure if they are on the show. Also there are others that are incompleted or missing some parts.

The journal itself seems to be pretty close to the one exhibited on the show, except for the color. This one as you can see is like probably how henry's journal used to look like when he bought it. After so many years the leather has worn and darkened. I will probably think about a way to make it look older as the original. I'll bring updates when i figured it out, i'm pretty sure fabric paint is the best option though.
