National Woman's Day may have ended, but it's significance has not been lost on me. And so I can't close my eyes either, at this early hour, without saying goodnight, and a big thank you to a young woman, named Zoé Janine Hallam, who faces her fears daily and conquers the worst of them, each time, without letting them stop her from new challenges and experiences. Her beguiling femininity is just a supplement to the inner strength that she possesses, and it is these things which have made her such an especially resilient, powerful and integral part of my life over the past few years. Whatever our future on this planet holds, or beyond, I already know she has an entire universe whirling around inside her, and it's such a revelation when the light of even one bright star within, leaks out, and brightens my day. And she gets far less credit for her courage, than she deserves, or for what she has done for me, than she realizes. I have, often enough, experienced bright moments from behind a lens, deftly capturing them for myself and for others to see, at a later time. But it's in moments when no one else is watching, or fail to see, which often reveal the most important things about who we can be, and why we are here. When only a hug or a smile from her, a touch, or a tear—things that seem so simple in contrast to the setting of the shimmering sun, it's colorful reflection on rippling waters—can likewise, so gently but powerfully remind me, just how complex and beautiful both human nature and femininity can be, and how very special it is to live in that moment with her, just to experience the intimacy of it. She is as simple, and as complicated, as all that. And if she ever wonders why I loved her someday, come whatever may, these are but only a small sample of the reasons. Goodnight, pretty face. Sweetest dreams...
