17 June 2026: Crown Prince Hussein visited Playground Global in California, an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in technology start-ups.
The Crown Prince discussed potential cooperation and investment opportunities for the company in Jordan, highlighting the advantages of investing in the Kingdom, and the role of the National Council for Future Technology in supporting the establishment of high-tech projects.
His Royal Highness noted that, over recent years, Jordan has produced outstanding talent in the technology sector, and is working to develop educational curricula in line with developments in this sector, which is contributing to strengthening the Kingdom’s standing, broadening opportunities for young people, and leading to innovative technological solutions.
Discussions during the visit also focused on the potential for developing advanced technical talent in Jordan in the fields of semiconductors, quantum computing, robotics, and bioengineering.
During a tour of the company’s headquarters, the Crown Prince was shown examples of the robotics technology applications developed there, as well as models created using 3D printing technology.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain.
Crown Prince Hussein met with Austria Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sport Andreas Babler.
During the meeting, held in California on the sidelines of the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between the Jordanian and Austrian national football teams, the Crown Prince expressed his best wishes to both teams in the World Cup, highlighting how sporting events provide opportunities to strengthen the close ties between the two countries.
His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of Austria’s participation in the Jordan-EU Investment Conference, which will be held at the end of this year.
The Crown Prince congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, noting its important role in supporting efforts to promote peace, security, and stability around the world.

Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan welcomes her 4th grandchild on 26 May 2026. Born on the eve of Eid Al Adha, the baby girl, named Ayah, is the first child of Zein Al Sharaf Judeh and her husband, Dr. Abduljaleel Al Sharayeh, whom she wed in June 2025. Zein Al Sharaf is the eldest daughter of Princess Sumaya and has a twin brother named Tariq.

Apart from the grandmother herself, baby Ayah is also photographed with her grandfather, politician Nasser Judeh and her maternal aunt, Sukayna Judeh, who also gave birth to her first child in January this year.
9 June 2026: Crown Prince Hussein visited the national football team at their training base camp in San Diego, where they are undertaking their final training sessions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking with the players, the Crown Prince praised their tactical discipline which has played a pivotal role in establishing the national team as star players on the world stage.
His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of following the coach and technical staff’s instructions, keeping in mind the heavy weight of responsibility, which requires high levels of concentration and mental preparation.
The Crown Prince said that all Jordanians stand behind the national football team and are cheering them on, noting the importance of putting on an outstanding performance in their upcoming matches regardless of the result.
The players expressed their immense pride in representing Jordan for the first time at the World Cup, voicing their determination to give their very best in the upcoming matches.
On the sidelines of the training camp visit, His Royal Highness gave a televised interview to beIN Sports, during which he said that the achievements of the national team in recent years provided the impetus to continue developing Jordan’s sporting system.
During the interview, conducted by beIN Sports correspondent Wafa Soukar, the Crown Prince explained that the confidence and determination demonstrated by the national football team has filled Jordanians with pride, noting the importance of building on the team’s achievements on the international stage, and showcasing Jordanian and Arab cultural identity to a global audience.
In response to a question about the expected performance of Jordan’s football team in upcoming matches, His Royal Highness underscored that the team’s task is not an easy one, but that there is great confidence they will put in a worthy performance, given their high-level physical and mental preparations.
The Crown Prince highlighted the important role of the Prince Ali Grassroots Centres in shaping the current national team, stressing the need to leverage the experience of the current generation and pass it on to the next generation of promising players in order to strengthen Jordan’s footballing culture.
His Royal Highness also expressed his pride in the level of Arab representation at this year’s World Cup, wishing the participating Arab teams every success.
10 June 2026: King Abdullah II attended a ceremony held by the JAF at the Martyrs’ Memorial to mark the occasions of Accession to the Throne Day, the anniversary of the Great Arab Revolt, and Army Day.
His Majesty laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and recited verses from the Holy Quran.
The King, accompanied by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, signed the guestbook in which he expressed his great pride in the men and women of the armed forces and security agencies, and their ongoing efforts to protect the Kingdom and safeguard its achievements.
His Majesty bestowed medals on distinguished military and security personnel, in recognition of their efforts and dedication to service.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad—His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy—and Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, as well as Prime Minister and Defence Minister Jafar Hassan, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, and Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Maaytah attended the ceremony.
8 June 2026: King Abdullah II, during a meeting with economic figures, emphasised the national economy’s demonstrated ability to withstand and effectively overcome crises.
During the meeting, His Majesty said that despite the turmoil in the region, Jordan has consolidated its stability and strategic position, adding that the Kingdom’s stability is a key factor in attracting investment.
The King highlighted the current phase of development in Jordan, technological advancements, and continuous efforts to implement the Economic Modernisation Vision’s projects and initiatives to stimulate investment and create jobs.
His Majesty noted the importance of promoting local participation in the implementation of megaprojects, and adopting a participatory approach based on engaging with experts and leveraging their expertise.
The meeting also covered developments in the region, with the King stressing the need to capitalise on the opportunities presented by upcoming regional connectivity projects, given their potential to strengthen economic cooperation and integration with countries in the region and internationally.
For their part, the attendees discussed economic opportunities and challenges locally and regionally, the role of fiscal and monetary policies in promoting economic stability, and the importance of harnessing technology to empower young people for the future.

7 June 2026: King Abdullah II received Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat Al Halbousi.
His Majesty highlighted the importance of building on the robust relations between Jordan and Iraq across various fields, in service of their peoples and regional stability.
Speaking about regional developments, the King underscored the need to step up efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, while ensuring the security and sovereignty of Arab states.
His Majesty also called for preventing the exploitation of the situation in the region as a pretext to impose new facts on the ground in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Mazen Qadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
