I remembered I made the biggest transition of my life a year ago today. It's definitely been a crazy but amazing experience. Cosette from Victor Hugo's Les Miserables -Okay seriously, when will I get the Marius to my Cosette (or the Marshall to my Lily or Leonard to my Penny)? Will 2013 be they year I find that true love? And I can't just keep searching on OkCupid or other sites. The feeling has to be there. Maybe I will get it this year...

My GoodReads challenge: read 24 books in 2013. I know I’ve pictured 25, but Les Misérables doesn’t count since I began reading it last year. And by last year, I mean last December. I hope to read at least two books a month, which is pretty reasonable because of my busy schedule.

As you can tell, I like reading fiction with my array of Gregory Maguire and classic literature books some of which I should have read in high school. So, why haven’t I read The Great Gatsby and The Hunger Games before? Honest - and lame - answer: Never made the time. I used to love reading books as a kid. As time went on, I got busier and lazier that I’d rather watch crap television than read a book. I’ve been reading more lately and love doing it. I love using my imagination to escape to a fantasy world - the main reason why I read fiction. I know I’m late on some books but better late than never.

I’m starting off the year with Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Although I disagree with many of his examples in Blinkto explain how people make snap judgments, I love The Tipping Pointthat explains trendsetting. He’s releasing a new book this year elaborating on the David and Goliath complex, and I want to finish his books before it’s debut. That demonstrates why I have a blank spot saying “Malcolm Gladwell’s New Book.” I would read What the Dog Saw, a compilation of all his stories from The New Yorker; I’ll wait that out since I’ve read most of them.

So this is my public declaration of my reading goal this year. I hope I can accomplish it.
