My first comic! Mostly playing with panel layout and flow.
Carrying the Light.
This was just a quick piece to play with lighting and style
i am a big believer in artists taking their time. i feel bad that algorithms and social media expectations and even capitalism sometimes force artists to churn out stuff at a stressful rate.
sometimes when i get a commission progress is slow and the artist apologizes and even though i am excitedly awaiting the final product i also want them to take their time. whatever time they need. bc i feel like that's one thing that society doesn't allow people to have anymore with work. everyone works at a different pace, we are not all copies of each other who can churn out art.
the rise of a.i art is also an unfortunate addition to this. bc it "creates" (aka steals) art so fast and gives in to instant gratification. it makes me worried for artists getting burnout from trying to keep up to the fast pace of social media.
so anyway. if you're an artist (whether it's visual, crafts, writing, music, etc) don't ever feel bad about taking things at your own pace. it's ok to take your time. we will still be here to admire it when it's done. and pls know that we appreciate you and your work a great deal!
While the alchemist toiled to make something deadly, what came out instead was unexpected indeed. It was a potion of good fortune, bringing avarice and greed.
This piece is entitled, āThe Sacrifice.ā
In name of the countless hours spent engaging with my craft to become a great artist, but in honor of my friends who help me keep my feet on the ground.

Casting off your former self and reaching for your fullest potential. These are concepts I admire, and strive to add into my art and into my life.
Iāll be wrapping this one up very soon.

Hereās a crop of a wip. This is me wanting to move my art more into the fantasy genre

Sometimes I stop and wonder, āHow did it come to this?ā But the darkness was mine to face, and mine alone. I could only hope that when the time came, I had the strength to face it.
Although on my other social media accounts Iāve recently made efforts to split my darker digital art from my light and fluffy stuff I do, Iāll probably share it all here to some degree.
When Iām not painting I like to sculpt polymer clay and make tiny things. Iāve started making things I can turn into jewelry and charms and opened an Etsy shop I named JWT Arts and Crafts. I have a separate Instagram and Twitter account for these types of works @jwtarts.
