If weâre going to tackle stereotypes and prejudices against women (literally, stereotypes about girls are dismantled so often that they basically almost donât exist). We also need to dismantle stereotypes and prejudices against men.Â
That men always âwant itâ
That men canât be raped or sexually assaulted.
That men who were molested/raped by a women are faking or are proud of/enjoyed their abuse (yes there are people (assholes) who really think that way (a fair amount are âfeministsâ))
That men are inherently dumber than women.
That if a women smacks a man itâs somehow fine but if you swap the sexes suddenly it becomes abuse (which is what it is).
That if a women sexually harasses a man and you respond âsheâs hotâ or âyou should treat her betterâ itâs somehow okay, but (again) flip the sexes and you get called out left and right (as you should).
That men who have been abused by their female partners âstarted itâ or âaggravated herâ
That women should get off with less of a punishment for the same crime.
That men need to be tough.
That men need to be stoic.
That men need to be silent about their emotions.
That being a stay at home husband makes you any less of a man.
That being trans makes you any less of a man.
That traditional masculinity is inherently âtoxicâ
The strange fact that our society is okay with the fact that 40% of victims of domestic abuse being men and yet, they have almost no dedicated shelters throughout the entirety of Europe, the U.S and the UK.
That men are all a hive mind of sexism toward women.
That all straight men do is sit around and talk all day about tits and arse.
That LGBT+ men are somehow worth any less or more than straight men.
That men should only be polite to women.
That âmale tearsâ is okay but âfemale tearsâ should send you into a rage.
Please donât try to turn this post around and make women the victims, we arenât in this scenario.
