If I'm not being lazy, I will usually have a queue that posts spreads every Tuesday and blanks spreads on Fridays (if I have a blank spread to post)!

Reminder that this is not a spoiler-free blog! I am documenting my playthroughs of games through journal spreads, which includes my reactions to certain spoilers and events. I do sometimes post blank spreads with no spoilers if I think the spread turned out pretty!

hey! i’m not sure if you still check this blog but i wanted to let you know that you were a huge inspiration for me to look into journaling as a hobby, and i am finally buying my first journal explicitly for writing about games. finding your blog got me to genuinely consider journaling as something i could customize to my liking and not something that had to be completely and effortlessly aesthetic, which got me over the hurdle of dealing with my perfectionist tendencies. thank you for making this blog, i loved seeing your journal spreads, and i hope you’re doing well <3

I am so happy to hear that!! And you are absolutely right, there is no one way to journal. Overtime how I've journaled has changed too, especially now that I read a lot more than I game so I've been experimenting personally with how to detail my thoughts on books.

I started seriously journaling because I had never played a Legend of Zelda game before the age of 21, so I thought it would be perfect to document my journey as an adult playing through the games. The motivation of what I was journaling rather than what my journal looked like is what kept me going. My older spreads aren't as nice as my newer ones, but I learned over time to develop a style. So don't give up if your perfectionism is telling you to! With each new spread your style will shape, and you will have such a lovely record of your own thoughts.

Hey everyone!

Thank you all for all your support on this page, I had such a great time posting here.

Unfortunately I won't be updating this page with new spreads anymore. My schedule has gotten busier and it takes a lot of time to set up spreads for photography as well as manually typing out all the words on my spreads.

I do still journal in my free time, and hopefully in the future I would like to make my own journals or spreads to share online or put in a shop.

But for now I won't be posting anymore on this page for spreads, but there's always a chance I could come back to it for other journaling reasons.

I did just launch my Ko-Fi if you're interested! Journal stickers are on my to-do list someday so I hope I can make those soon.

I've truly fallen in love with Fields of Mistria ever since early access opened, I cannot wait for the full game release and each major update has so much to explore.

Sorry for such a long hiatus!! It's been a crazy long 7 months but I hope to get my queue started up again! Starting with Dredge, which is a strong contender for my favorite game I've played this year!

I said I wasn’t going to start any more new games bc I wanted to finish all the ones I started this year…. But then fields of mistria was calling to me like the phantom with Christine…

Anyways I just got to fall in the game and this game absolutely rules, ungodly excited for the next update and the full release. I highly recommend to any fans of stardew valley, animal crossing, or 90s shoujo anime!!

I really like how the theming turned out for this spread!! I think this spread is what inspired me to start my coffee and tea journal too

My Kingdom Hearts 1 spreads!! Since the journal I'm using for KH and FF games is a shorter height than my regular VG journal, I decided to make two spreads to record more thoughts!

The first spread is inspired by the game cover/poster :]. I actually did the same with my Zelda 1 spread and knew the same idea would be perfect for this game.

Part of the reason I’ve been on a hiatus is I keep started games and forgetting to finish them which means I don’t get to finish my spreads fsjdklf I’m determined to spend the rest of the year beating games and starting up my queue so if yall have a particular game you’d like to see lmk by voting in the poll!

I'll try to get a small queue going! I just realized I have a ton of drafts of blanks spreads that I never posted!

Been busy with a new job recently but I think Echoes of Wisdom will help be get back into the swing of things for my video game journals.

I've also been working on my coffee and tea journal on and off! I won't start posting that until I have the coffee section fully/mostly filled out. I'd like to make some tea and coffee merch to go along with it so I might try to make that into a bigger project, maybe even make some printable zines using my journal!

I've missed this blog a lot and ive been slacking on notifications too so I hope to get back to those soon. It makes me happy that I still get interactions with this blog even though I took a break <3

Sorry for the hiatus again!! I'm slowly getting back into journaling. In the meantime while I'm getting reorganized, here's the spread I made when my very first piece of physical zine merch I made came in!

Turnabout ballroom @turnaboutballroom !!! This was the first ever physical zine i worked on as a merch artist (I had been in a couple of zines as page artist before) so it was SO cool getting to have my merch printed!! This was such a fun zine to be a part of, and what a fitting theme for The Great Ace Attorney!! Since I was a part of this zine instead of structuring this how I normally structure zine spreads, I wrote down all my thoughts about the zine from my perspective as a contributor than a buyer.

I made the Sanguine Ball print, an illustration that was inspired by the Van Helsing movie! All the art, merch, and writing is so gorgeous. The merch is especially really high quality, and I’m saying that as someone who reviews all the merch in my journals not as a contributor to this project hfdjs. (Although it was sooo nice getting such a quality print of my print!!!) The stickers especially are not only really durable but super restickable. I am so honored to have been a part of this project!!

Thoughts:

I had so much fun being a part of this zine!! All the art and writing is so well done, I am honored to have been in this zine!! I made the Sanguine ball print!! My inspiration was from the Van Helsing movie when Anna was dancing with Dracula in the ballroom and was dipped in front of a mirror and realizes she’s the only human in the ball. I wanted to use that idea for a fake Herlock Sholmes invesitagation case where Herlock faced a “vampire” attack and Barok was blamed due to his suspicious nature. All the iconography surrounding the two of them dancing are evidence. I’m so happy with the piece and it’s so nice having it physically!! Zeta even gave me the idea to turn the piece into shadow box art — I might just!! Or even reuse this concept for my DGS ballet au! This was such a great theme for DGS!! This and the tea zine are just too perfect, if DGS gets another sequel i really hope one of the settings is at a Victorian ball. The graphic design of the whole zine is incredible, the columns throughout the zine fit so perfectly and are drawn so well. The cover art is so dynamic and a perfect fit — they all look like they’re getting read to go to the ball and when you open the zine — you see them at the ball in different scenarios. I adore everything made! The production quality of the merch is especially great! The stickers are all durable and restickable. I have never seen such a nice quality button. I also love the quality of my print. The texturing adds to it! It was also really cool being in a dgs zine with so many dgs artists I admire! I’m excited for the day a new AA game is announced so the DGS community can be revitalized again. The mods were great!! It was fun working with familiar faces from the DGs sprig zine. TYSM to everyone on the zine, especially the mods, for making this such a wonderful experience. Being accepted as a pinch hitter opened up so many more zine opportunities for me. This plus the Sheik zine led me to being a merch artist for the TLOZ horror zine and that led me to now having multiple mod positions. My zine and art growth has been so dramatic since the start of this zine and I am so proud of my journey. Thank you again everyone, it’s been incredible!

Hi! I had a question about your journaling process: do you type out what to write first, or is it the other way around?

Hey!! Great question! I actually live write my reactions. The best way to describe it is like let's playing but in a journal lol.

Everyone's journaling style is different, some people might want their spreads to be neater but I prioritize the emotion in my writing. My biggest example of this is my Great Ace Attorney spread where you can slowly see me lose my mind through my writing haha.

BUT that's also a big reason why I post my blank spreads. I prioritize design and neatness in my initial spread setup so I like to have images of what the spreads looked like beforehand in case the writing obscures it.

Apologies for another hiatus here! I got crazy bombarded with zine stuff and haven't been able to do a lot of journal photographing, but I promise I have still been journaling! Getting closer and closer to finishing my Ace Attorney and Professor Layton playthroughs :'(

I have been working on a shop! I hope to create journaling sticker sheets sometime in the future but I'm gonna start out with fandom and original character hand cut 2.5"ish stickers for now since I've been having issues with my silhouette for so long.
