PAIRINGS ā Obi-wan Kenobi x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY ā ⨠Ten years after the fall of the Jedi Order, Obi-Wan Kenobi tracks down an old ally on Nar Shaddaa for a mission tied to the Empire. What he doesnāt expect is to find Y/N hiding in plain sight under a new name, engaged to an Imperial man who has no idea who she really is. What starts as a simple retrieval mission quickly turns into a disastrous night of lies, old feelings, and impossible choices ā forcing two people who once loved each other to confront everything they buried with the Jedi Order.

Cassianās ship was absurdly beautiful.
But honestly, that had only been Obi-Wanās second thought.
She tossed the suitcase into the rear storage compartment as she spoke.
ā I donāt miss him, but I am definitely going to miss this ship.
Obi-Wan walked slowly up the ramp.
ā This looks far too expensive.
ā It was far too expensive.
The shipās doors sealed behind them. And for the first time since Nar Shaddaa, the silence felt⦠safe. Y/N dropped into the pilotās seat while activating the systems. Her fingers moved quickly across the controls with practiced familiarity.
Obi-Wan watched quietly. It was too strange seeing her like this again.
Just her. Exhausted, sarcastic, and brilliant the way she had always been.
ā Youāve been staring at me a lot today.
He immediately looked away. She laughed softly.
ā This is becoming dangerously entertaining.
Alarms suddenly echoed throughout the hangar. Red lights flashed across the shipās windows. Y/N grimaced.
ā Ah. They found the body.
ā We need to leave.
ā I noticed that part, Master Jedi.
She yanked the controls violently. The ship shot off the platform in a brutal burst of speed. Blaster fire followed almost immediately behind them. Obi-Wan grabbed the side of the cockpit.
ā Exactly how many people wanted Cassian dead?
ā Honestly? Fewer than there shouldāve been.
The ship weaved sharply between the glowing towers of Nar Shaddaa while alarms screamed across the entire city.
Y/N was smiling.
SMILING.
Obi-Wan stared at her in disbelief.
ā Are you enjoying this?
ā A little.
She pulled the ship into an insane turn.
ā Itās been years since my last traumatic Imperial chase.
ā That shouldnāt sound nostalgic.
ā And you should stop looking at me like that or Iām going to start thinking you actually missed me.
For the sake of his own sanity, Obi-Wan decided to stay quiet.
The ship was quiet except for the constant hum of hyperspace. Y/N sat on the floor of the main cabin surrounded by pieces of her dismantled lightsaber while Obi-Wan remained in the pilotās chair, adjusting routes that had probably been correct from the start.
She watched him for a few seconds before smirking slightly.
ā Obi-Wan, weāre in hyperspace. The ship is practically flying itself.
He ignored her and she immediately smiled in satisfaction.
ā God, I missed this.
Obi-Wan let out a small breath through his nose. Almost a laugh. And that did something dangerous to her chest.
Y/N turned the golden kyber crystal between her fingers distractedly. The light reflected warm tones across her face.
ā Funny getting back into this again.
Obi-Wan glanced toward the dismantled saber.
ā You took good care of it.
ā Of course. ā She shrugged. ā Sentimental value.
He almost smiled again. It was like the Force simply slipped out of her without her noticing.
ā You still use the Force.
ā Unfortunately my mystical powers continue haunting me.
Obi-Wan watched her silently for a moment before speaking calmly.
ā Youāre still a Jedi.
That changed her expression instantly. The humor vanished. Y/N slowly placed the crystal down on the shipās metal floor.
ā Donāt say that.
ā Itās true.
She let out a short, cold laugh.
ā True? Obi-Wan, you Jedi are emotionally repressed. I evolved past that a long time ago.
ā We.
Her eyes lifted immediately.
ā What?
ā We Jedi.
Silence.
Y/N held his gaze for a few seconds before shaking her head faintly.
ā There is no āwe.ā
Her voice was quieter now. Far more serious.
ā There arenāt any Jedi anymore.
Obi-Wan stayed still.
She continued before he could respond.
ā All of that died.
ā Y/Nā
ā No. Listen.
She crossed her arms, leaning her head against the metal wall behind her.
ā The Order had been broken for a long time and all of you refused to admit it.
ā The Order protected the galaxy.
She laughed without humor.
ā And look how that ended.
Cruel because it was unfair. Cruel because part of him feared she was right.
ā You took children and taught them to repress every natural human emotion.
ā It wasnāt repression.
ā Obi-Wan, you literally forbade emotional attachment.
ā Because attachment can leadā
ā To fear, pain, the dark side, I know. ā She looked up at him. ā I heard that my entire adolescence. ā The cabin suddenly felt smaller. ā And still you sent teenagers to war.
That hit hard. She noticed but kept going.
ā Anakin was practically a child.
Silence. Obi-Wan looked away first. Fatal mistake. Because Y/N knew him far too well. Her voice softened slightly.
ā Iām not saying all of it was horrible.
She looked at the dismantled saber on the floor.
ā I loved parts of it.
The Temple library. Missions. Late nights hidden in the corridors talking for hours. Him. Always him.
ā But when the Order fell⦠ā She exhaled slowly. ā Part of me was devastated. But another part⦠felt relieved.
Obi-Wan slowly looked back up. She held his gaze without flinching.
ā Because it was over.
The words sounded almost like a confession.
ā There wasnāt a Council telling me what I was allowed to feel anymore. There wasnāt a Master looking at me like I was broken.
His jaw tightened slightly.
ā Do you know what the first thing I thought after Order 66 was?
She smiled bitterly.
ā āSo itās finally over.ā
Obi-Wan stayed silent. Because those words destroyed him in several different ways at once. Y/N slowly ran a hand through her hair. More tired now.
ā I didnāt want to belong to that anymore.
She gestured vaguely.
ā The Jedi. The Order. The war.
Her eyes found his again.
ā I was tired of losing people because all of you insisted on pretending you had everything under control. You and that damned hope.
The sentence lingered between them. Because both of them knew what she was really talking about.
Them.
Obi-Wan took a slow breath.
ā Loving you was never a weakness.
Absolute silence.
Y/N literally stopped breathing for half a second.
And Obi-Wan realized far too late what he had just admitted out loud. Her eyes stayed fixed on him. Genuine surprise crossed her face for the first time in hours.
ā Obi-Wanā¦
He immediately looked away and that made her laugh softly in disbelief.
ā Oh my God. ā She dramatically covered her mouth with one hand. ā You really just said that.
ā Ignore it.
ā Oh, absolutely not.
Her smile slowly returned.
ā It only took⦠what? Twenty years for you to admit that out loud?
ā Y/Nā
ā No, wait, let me enjoy this historical moment. Maybe I should record it. āMaster Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers feelings.ā Fascinating. Revolutionary. Groundbreaking.
Obi-Wan stayed quiet after her teasing. Maybe because he was still trying to survive his own emotional lapse. Maybe because hearing Anakinās name lingering between them always made the air heavier.
Y/N watched him for a few seconds. Then her smile slowly faded. Replaced by something more exhausted.
She went back to adjusting the saber pieces slowly.
ā I donāt hate everything I learned there.
Her voice was softer now. Nearly lost beneath the sound of the engines.
ā The Force still⦠means something to me.
Obi-Wan looked up. Y/N held his gaze briefly before continuing.
ā But if I ever become a Jedi againā¦
She let out a faint laugh through her nose, like the thought itself belonged to another reality.
ā Which honestly seems unlikely considering my recent history involving murder and Imperial fraudā¦
That almost pulled another smile from him. But she stayed serious.
ā Itāll be by my own principles.
Silence.
She slowly clicked one of the saber pieces back into place.
ā Not the Councilās.
ā Y/Nā
ā No. I spent too much time being told what I was āallowedā or ānot allowedā to feel.
The cabin felt smaller now.
ā Loving someone shouldnāt be treated like spiritual corruption. ā Her voice was firm. Her eyes met his directly. ā Loving someone makes you human.
Obi-Wan felt his chest tighten immediately. Because she was looking at him that way again. The way she used to years ago. Like there was something between them that had never really died.
ā Lying about everything all the time⦠thatās what destroys people.
She slowly looked away. Thinking about Cassian. About herself. About the entire fake life she had built.
ā Pretending. Repressing. Burying everything. ā Her jaw tightened slightly. ā That feels far more Sith than anything else.
Obi-Wan stayed motionless. Because a terrible part of him understood exactly where this conversation was going. And another part didnāt want to hear it.
ā Anakin didnāt fall because he loved too much.
Her voice softened when she said his name. Careful. Almost sad.
ā He fell because he spent half his life being taught to be ashamed of what he felt.
That hit Obi-Wan hard and Y/N noticed immediately, but she kept going anyway.
ā The Empire didnāt create Darth Vader.
Absolute silence.
ā The Order did.
The entire ship seemed to stop. Obi-Wan slowly lowered his eyes. And that alone broke something inside her. Because she had never liked seeing him like this. Broken. But she was certain ten years in a desert had forced him into every kind of reflection imaginable about this subject.
ā Obi-Wanā¦
ā You donāt understand.
His voice came out low. Rough. He slowly dragged a hand across his face. Too tired.
ā Then explain it to me.
That came out softer than before. Without teasing. Obi-Wan stayed quiet for several long seconds.
Watching blue stars streak past the shipās windows.
ā I loved him like a brother.
The words barely had strength behind them. Y/N immediately felt her chest tighten. Because Obi-Wan rarely spoke about emotions that openly.
ā And I failed him.
ā You donāt know that.
He let out a weak, painful laugh.
ā I trained him while repeating the exact same teachings Iād been given as a Padawan.
His eyes finally found hers again. Destroyed.
ā And maybe youāre right.
That surprised her. Obi-Wan lowered his gaze again.
ā Maybe we taught Anakin to fear feeling anything too much.
The silence between them turned heavy. Y/N watched him carefully now. Because that guilt was clearly alive inside him every single day.
ā You know the worst part?
His voice came out low, almost bitter.
ā If the Council had discovered what I felt for you back then⦠they probably wouldāve taken me away from him.
She felt her chest tighten painfully.
ā Because attachment was considered weakness. ā He almost smiled, but it was sad. ā And ironically you were the only thing that made me feel human during the entire war.
That destroyed her quietly. Because Obi-Wan spoke like someone who had spent years never saying any of this out loud.
She swallowed hard.
ā Then maybe the Order was wrong about a lot of things.
He watched her silently. Y/N rested her chin against her bent knee.
ā I donāt want to become that obedient Padawan who was terrified of feeling anything ever again.
The blue hyperspace light washed softly across her face.
ā But maybe⦠maybe thereās another way to be a Jedi.
Her eyes locked onto his. Steady. And Obi-Wan realized, dangerously late, that hearing her say that made him want to believe it too.
Y/N placed the saber beside the suitcase before slowly standing up. The exhaustion was finally beginning to overpower the adrenaline.
ā How many beds does this ship have? ā he asked.
ā One.
He froze. Then slowly turned toward her.
ā Of course it does.
ā You can have it.
ā Obviously not.
ā Wow, what a gentleman. ā She started walking down the narrow hallway of the ship. ā Very Jedi of you.
ā Y/Nā
ā Relax, Iām not going to seduce you in the middle of a galactic crisis. ā She glanced back over her shoulder with an amused smile. ā Even though I can clearly still make you nervous without much effort.
His face immediately warmed again. Again. She disappeared into the shipās tiny bedroom before he could respond. But Obi-Wan could still hear her moving around inside. Putting weapons away. Muttering to herself. Probably complaining about the size of the ship.
And for the first time in a very long time⦠it felt strangely comforting. Familiar.
He closed his eyes briefly. Trying to ignore the fact that Y/N was sleeping only a few meters away again. Trying to ignore the fact that he could still feel her through the Force like a warm presence inside the ship. Trying to ignore that part of him was happy. Very happy.
Obi-Wan remained in the cockpit for a while longer. Just watching the stars pass by. Thinking about everything she had said. Thinking about Anakin. The Order. Them.
And eventually, the silence coming from the bedroom became absolute.
She had fallen asleep and he should probably do the same. Obi-Wan slowly stood and walked down the shipās narrow hallway, trying not to make noise. The bedroom door was partially open. He shouldāve kept walking, but then he looked.
Terrible mistake.
Y/N was asleep on her side in the shipās small bed, partially wrapped in a thin blanket. Dark hair spread across the pillow.
His chest tightened instantly. Because she looked younger asleep. Closer to the girl he had met in the Jedi Temple. Less like the exhausted woman who had learned to survive hidden among Imperials.
Obi-Wan stood there staring for too long before she slowly opened one eye.
ā You know thatās extremely creepy, right?
He froze instantly.
Y/N smiled sleepily.
ā Do you stare at sleeping people often?
ā I was just checking if you were alright.
ā Mhmm.
She clearly didnāt believe him. Obi-Wan immediately looked away and that only made her smile more. Even half asleep.
ā Youāre still very cute.
ā Goodnight, Y/N.
She let out a tired little laugh. Then adjusted herself more comfortably against the pillow. Her eyes beginning to close again. But before fully falling asleep, she murmured softly:
ā Come sleep here.
Obi-Wan froze.
ā Y/Nā
ā Obi-Wan, the bed fits two people and honestly I do not have the energy to discuss emotionally repressed tension at three in the morning.
Silence.
She opened one eye again.
ā Besides, if I wanted to kill you in your sleep I wouldāve done it hours ago.
That almost made him laugh and maybe that was exactly why he eventually stepped into the room.
The bed was far too small. Of course it was. The entire galaxy seemed determined to destroy his sanity. Obi-Wan laid down rigidly at the opposite edge while Y/N watched him silently for a few seconds.
Then she started laughing quietly.
ā You look like a soldier waiting for execution.
ā Iām comfortable.
ā You are literally holding your breath.
He didnāt answer. Because she was right. Y/N shook her head slightly, amused.
Then she turned off the roomās small light with the Force and the cabin fell into the soft blue darkness of hyperspace. Obi-Wan stared at the ceiling desperately trying not to think about the fact that she was beside him.
Obi-Wan slowly turned his head. Y/N was already looking at him in the dark. Her eyes tired. Soft. No sarcasm this time.
ā Goodnight, Obi-Wan.
Her voice was almost a whisper and he realized maybe he had never stopped loving her for even a single second.
ā How did Cassian never notice?
Y/N slowly opened one eye in the dark.
ā Wow. ā She let out a sleepy little laugh. ā You really picked that topic for our first almost romantic night in ten years?
ā This is not a romantic night.
ā Sure.
She adjusted her head on the pillow. Her face dimly illuminated by the blue light spilling through the shipās window.
ā What exactly do you want to know?
Obi-Wan hesitated. Because the real question was far worse. How had another man lived beside her without realizing who she really was? How had someone looked at her every day without seeing the Force practically vibrating beneath her skin?
But all he said was:
ā You lived together.
ā For eight months.
That surprised him. Y/N noticed immediately.
ā Oh, you thought Iād been living that tacky Imperial fantasy for years?
ā I didnātā
ā Obi-Wan, there was an entire room in that apartment dedicated to decorative porcelain. Do you really think I would choose that voluntarily?
She kept staring at the ceiling as she spoke. Her voice quieter now.
ā Before that, I kept my distance.
ā Because he hated Jedi.
She nodded slowly.
ā Cassian was too observant.
Her hand moved slowly across the blanket. Distracted.
ā Too intelligent too. I had to be careful around him constantly.
Silence. Then she laughed softly through her nose.
ā Do you have any idea how annoying it is trying to hide Jedi reflexes?
Obi-Wan turned slightly toward her. Y/N looked genuinely offended by the memory.
ā One time a tray fell in a restaurant and I literally had to let a glass smash into my head because raising my hand wouldāve looked suspicious.
That pulled a quiet laugh from him. She slowly turned onto her side toward him. Closer now.
ā But I was extremely careful. ā The humor faded slightly from her voice. ā I never used the Force around him. Never.
Obi-Wan watched her silently. Y/N held his gaze for a few seconds before continuing.
ā Not even while sleeping.
That caught his attention immediately.
ā You blocked your own connection?
She nodded slowly.
ā Learned early.
Her voice became quieter. Almost distant.
ā After Order 66 I realized surviving meant becoming invisible.
Her eyes met his again.
ā Not just physically.
Obi-Wan immediately felt the weight of that.
Because he knew the cost.
Shutting parts of yourself down.
Burying the Force so deeply it almost stopped feeling natural.
ā Sometimes Iād go entire days without touching it.
The sentence sounded strange. Like someone talking about stopping breathing.
ā Didnāt that hurt?
Y/N stayed quiet for a moment.
Then let out a small, sad laugh.
ā A lot.
Silence.
Obi-Wan watched her carefully now. Because he was beginning to understand something horrible: she hadnāt only hidden who she was from the Empire. She had hidden it from herself too.
ā Cassian never suspected? Not once?
She thought for a few seconds.
ā I think he suspected I was hiding something.
Her eyes drifted briefly. Remembering.
ā But he thought it was trauma. Political secrets. Some dangerous ex. ā She smiled slightly in the darkness. ā Technically he wasnāt completely wrong.
Obi-Wan felt his face warm subtly.
Y/N noticed immediately. She rested her face against one hand, looking directly at him now. Then she spoke softly:
ā I didnāt love him the way I loved you.
Obi-Wan completely stopped breathing.
She noticed and this time she didnāt tease him. Didnāt provoke. She just kept looking at him in that blue hyperspace darkness.
The silence afterward became dangerously intimate.
He could feel her presence in the Force now without any barriers hiding it and after years of burying all of that, it was almost overwhelming. And maybe that was exactly why he seemed so still. Like one wrong movement could destroy something fragile between them.
Y/N watched him for several long seconds. Then smiled slightly.
ā Youāre overthinking.
ā Am I?
ā Mhmm.
She slowly leaned a little closer. Almost unconsciously.
ā You always did that before kissing me.
Obi-Wan literally stopped breathing.
ā We neverā
ā Almost.
Her voice was quiet. They had never actually kissed. Not truly. Always interrupted. Always afraid. Always too Jedi. Y/N remembered the last time perfectly. An empty corridor in the Jedi Temple after a terrible mission. His hands on her face. Both of them shaking. And then Obi-Wan pulling away like heād touched fire.
She still hated that memory. Her eyes dropped involuntarily to his mouth now. Massive mistake.
Because Obi-Wan noticed and his expression changed instantly.
ā Y/Nā¦
His voice came out rough. Almost a warning. But she was already too close to pretend she didnāt understand. Her heart beat loudly and annoyingly in her chest while she held his gaze. And for one absurdly small second⦠it felt inevitable.
She leaned in a little more and Obi-Wan didnāt pull away. That alone was maddening. His eyes dropped to her lips without him realizing.
Because Y/N knew that look. Had known it since she was sixteen. She let out a nervous little laugh through her nose.
ā Wow.
She rubbed a hand across her face.
ā That wouldāve been a terrible idea.
Obi-Wan immediately looked away.
Of course he did.
ā Yes.
The answer came too quickly and instantly irritated her.
ā Oh, thanks.
He turned back toward her immediately.
ā Thatās not what I meant.
ā That is literally what you meant.
ā Y/Nā
She dramatically turned her back to him on the narrow mattress.
ā Amazing. Rejected by Master Kenobi for the second time in my life. Iām really collecting humiliating experiences today.
Obi-Wan nearly combusted emotionally.
ā Iām not rejecting you.
She immediately looked back over her shoulder.
ā Then you wanted to kiss me?
Twenty years later and he still fell for her games. Incredible how nothing changed. Because Obi-Wan simply couldnāt lie to her.
Y/N saw the entire answer on his face before he even spoke. Her expression softened instantly.
That pulled an involuntary laugh from him. Her smile slowly faded afterward. Then, calmer now, she murmured:
ā I just⦠donāt want you to run away from me again.
That hit him directly in the chest.
Obi-Wan went completely quiet.
And Y/N immediately realized she mightāve been too honest.
She looked away first.
Something incredibly rare.
ā Go to sleep, Obi-Wan.
Her voice was quieter now. More tired.
ā Tomorrow we can go back to pretending we know what weāre doing.
Y/N barely slept. Obi-Wan realized that on the first night. She would simply sit near the cockpit watching the stars in silence while pretending to adjust the shipās systems.
On the second night, he found her asleep on the cockpit floor with a blanket crookedly draped over her shoulders. He stared for far too long. Then fixed the blanket properly around her before he could think better of it.
She pretended not to notice the next day. But the tiny smile in the morning gave her away.
The hidden Rebel base on Alderaan was quiet compared to the chaos of Nar Shaddaa. Soldiers moved quickly through the corridors. Pilots, mechanics, exhausted people trying to keep hope alive.
The moment the ship landed, Obi-Wan noticed the way peopleās expressions changed when they recognized him. He hated that a little. Y/N noticed immediately.
ā Youāre still terrible at receiving admiration.
ā I donāt like it.
ā I know. Itās deeply annoying of you.
Bail Organa met them on the landing platform. His expression visibly relaxed when he saw Obi-Wan alive. Then he looked at Y/N. And there was immediate recognition.
ā Itās been a long time.
Y/N tilted her head slightly.
ā You still look like someone who sleeps three hours a night.
Bail almost smiled.
ā And youāre still impossible.
She gave him a proud grin and a small bow.
ā Thank you.
Then a small voice appeared behind him:
ā Obi-Wan!
The little girl ran down the corridor before any of the guards could stop her. Far too much energy for her own size.
Leia Organa.
Obi-Wan immediately knelt as she practically threw herself at him. And something tightened strangely in Y/Nās chest watching that.
Leia then noticed Y/N behind him. Curious eyes immediately analyzing her from head to toe.
ā Who are you?
ā Wow. ā Y/N placed a dramatic hand over her chest. ā Not even a āhello,ā princess?
Leia narrowed her eyes immediately, suspicious.
ā Youāre funny.
ā That usually means trouble.
The girl instantly smiled.
ā I like her.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes for a second like a man profoundly exhausted. Bail clearly looked entertained.
Leia walked directly up to Y/N.
ā Are you his friend?
Y/N glanced quickly at Obi-Wan. Then back at Leia.
ā Unfortunately.
Leia laughed immediately. And that was it. They liked each other within seconds.
Over the next few hours, Leia basically attached herself to Y/N. Asking questions. Messing with the shipās tools. Wanting to hear ridiculous stories. And Y/N ā much to Obi-Wanās surprise ā seemed genuinely happy. Like old pieces of her were slowly coming back to life.
At one point, Obi-Wan found them sitting on the hangar floor while Y/N taught Leia how to cheat at cards.
ā That seems illegal.
Y/N looked over her shoulder.
ā Technically, it is.
Leia grinned massively.
ā Sheās way more fun than you.
Obi-Wan sighed deeply.
ā I noticed.
Later that night, after Leia had finally gone to sleep, the base became quiet. Y/N leaned against the outer balcony railing, watching the distant lights of Alderaan. No elegant dress. Just her.
Obi-Wan approached slowly. She noticed him before he even stopped beside her.
ā Your secret daughter is terrifyingly intelligent.
ā Sheās not my daughter.
Y/N slowly turned her head toward him.
ā Oh, of course. Because thatās obviously what I meant.
The wind moved her hair gently. And Obi-Wan realized, far too late, that this was dangerous.
ā She likes you, ā he commented.
Y/N smiled faintly.
ā Children usually like me before they discover my flaws.
Then she turned fully toward him. Close enough for Obi-Wan to notice her perfume again.
The same damn perfume.
The same woman.
The same eyes.
ā You keep looking at me like you want to do something.
Her voice came out low. Teasing. Obi-Wan felt his heartbeat accelerate stupidly fast.
ā Y/Nā
ā What?
She stepped a little closer.
And that was it. Now she was close enough for him to completely lose his mind.
ā Arenāt you going to kiss me?
The question came out almost as a whisper.
Obi-Wan literally closed his eyes for a second.
Because he wanted to.
Badly.
Far more than he should.
When he opened his eyes again, she was still there. Waiting. Challenging him.
ā If I kiss you⦠ā his voice came out rougher than it should have ā Iāll never be able to stop.
Her smile appeared slowly.
ā Then maybe you just donāt have the courage, Kenobi.
Obi-Wan could still feel her breathing. Could still imagine exactly what kissing her after all these years of thinking about it would feel like.
Which was a terrible idea.
An absolutely terrible idea.
So he stepped back half a pace.
And her expression changed immediately.
Not hurt.
Just⦠resigned.
Of course. Here we go again.
ā Ah, the Jedi, ā she murmured, crossing her arms. ā Always ruining interesting moments.
Obi-Wan let out a tired breath through his nose.
ā Itās not that simple.
Y/N literally laughed.
ā Obi-Wan, nothing about you people was ever simple.
She leaned back against the railing again. The wind of Alderaan moved her hair while the city lights shimmered in the distance. For a moment she looked much younger. Much closer to the girl he had met in the Jedi Temple.
ā āYou canāt love.ā ā she imitated dramatically. ā āYou canāt feel attachment.ā āYou canāt become emotionally involved.ā Honestly, you all sounded like an emotionally repressed cult.
ā We werenāt repressed.
She slowly turned toward him.
ā You literally turned red because I asked if you missed me.
Obi-Wan decided not to defend himself from that one.
She immediately smiled victoriously.
ā Exactly.
ā The Jedi Code existed for a reason.
ā Ah yes. Because feelings are terrifying.
ā Because attachment can destroy people.
That made things heavier.
Y/N noticed instantly.
Anakin Skywalker. Always Anakin between them now.
She sighed slowly.
ā I know what happened to him, Obi-Wan. ā Her voice softened this time. ā But you use him as justification for everything.
Obi-Wan stayed quiet.
She slowly walked toward him again.
ā You taught children to feel guilty for loving someone.
ā It wasnāt guilt.
ā Right. It was fear.
That hit directly.
Because maybe she was right.
Maybe she had been right from the beginning.
ā You know what I remember about the Temple? ā she continued. ā I remember people spending their entire lives pretending they didnāt feel normal things.
She lifted her eyes directly to his.
ā And you were the worst of all.
Obi-Wan almost smiled humorlessly.
ā That doesnāt sound like a compliment.
ā It isnāt.
She leaned against the balcony railing beside him. Their shoulders almost touching now.
ā You felt everything. You always did.
His chest tightened.
Because she knew him far too well.
ā But then you pretended you didnāt.
She looked ahead again.
ā You think I didnāt notice?
Obi-Wan went still.
ā Y/Nā
ā You looked at me like a dying man looking at water.
The words came out calm. Like she was simply stating a truth too old to still hurt.
But it did hurt.
She let out a quiet laugh.
ā And then you acted like I was the problem.
ā You were a problem.
She instantly grinned.
ā Oh thank the Force. Finally, honesty.
Obi-Wan actually laughed softly this time.
And that made her go quiet for a moment. Watching him. More serious now.
ā I hated that, you know?
ā What?
ā The way you made me feel⦠and then ran away afterward.
Her honesty always hit harder when it came without a joke attached.
ā It felt unfair.
Obi-Wan looked away toward the illuminated city.
ā I was trying to do the right thing.
Y/N slowly rested her arms on the railing.
ā And was it worth it?
Obi-Wan didnāt know how to answer.
She slowly turned toward him again. Her eyes soft now. Almost sad.
ā We spent years pretending we werenāt in love with each other to protect rules from an Order that doesnāt even exist anymore.
That shattered whatever rational line he had left.
Because she was right.
Again.
The Order was gone. The Council was dead. The rules had turned to ashes along with the Temple. And still he stood there. Frozen and afraid.
Y/N noticed immediately. She took another step toward him. Now close enough for Obi-Wan to forget his own name.
ā You know what the most irritating part is? ā she asked quietly.
He swallowed hard.
ā What?
She tilted her head slightly.
That small smile returning.
ā Iām almost certain that if I kissed you right now, youād react like we committed a crime.
Obi-Wan stared at her in silence. The wind of Alderaan drifted slowly across the balcony, moving her hair while the city lights glowed beneath them.
And Y/N was still too close. Close enough for him to feel her warmth. Close enough to remember exactly why he had spent years trying to forget her. She held his gaze without backing away. Without teasing now. Just waiting. Obi-Wan could feel his heart pounding far too hard for a man who had survived entire wars.
Ridiculous.
Absolutely ridiculous.
ā You still do that, ā she murmured softly.
ā Do what?
ā Look at me like youāre about to do something⦠and then stop at the last second.
That struck directly.
Because it was true.
She let out a short breath through her nose.
ā Honestly, Kenobi, sometimes I wish I could climb into your head just to understand the level of emotional tragedy happening in there.
He almost smiled but couldnāt.
Because she was right again.
He had spent years burying feelings until they became part of him. Part of the man who survived alone in the desert.
And now she was here again dismantling all of it.
Y/N tilted her head slightly. Watching him too carefully.
ā What is it?
Obi-Wan took a while to answer.
The truth was that he was tired.
Tired of running from her.
Tired of pretending this had never existed.
Tired of watching her slip through his fingers every time.
ā I spent ten years trying not to think about you.
His voice came out low. Rough.
Her eyes changed immediately. Sharper now.
ā And did it work?
Obi-Wan let out a weak humorless laugh.
That answered before words could.
Y/N went quiet.
For the first time that night, completely quiet.
Then she slowly stepped toward him.
No rush.
Like she was giving him room to retreat.
But Obi-Wan didnāt step back this time.
Her eyes dropped quickly to his mouth.
Then lifted again.
That nearly destroyed him.
ā Obi-Wanā¦
The way she said his name was worse than any touch.
He slowly lifted a hand.
As if he still needed to convince himself he was allowed to touch her.
His fingers carefully reached her face.
And Obi-Wan literally felt her stop breathing.
Her skin was warm.
After so many years imagining it, it almost felt impossible that this was really happening.
Y/N closed her eyes for a second against his hand and that alone shattered the rest of his self-control.
When she opened her eyes again, they were dangerously bright.
ā Youāre overthinking again, ā she whispered.
Maybe he was.
Maybe he always was.
ā You know I still think you donāt have the courage, right?
Something finally broke inside him at that.
Obi-Wan held her face more firmly.
And then he kissed her.
Finally.
After far too many years.
The kiss started slowly. Almost carefully. Like he was still afraid she might disappear.
But Y/N grabbed his tunic immediately, pulling him closer, and that was it.
Gone.
All the patience.
All the control.
All the Jedi self-restraint he had spent years trying to maintain.
Obi-Wan deepened the kiss in an involuntary, almost desperate movement and felt Y/N smile against his mouth like she had been waiting for that for an entire decade.
Her hands gripped his tunic tightly while he automatically pulled her closer by the waist.
Closer.
Always closer.
Like both of them were trying to recover lost years all at once.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathing hard.
Y/N still held onto his clothes.
Her eyes completely wrecked now.
And Obi-Wan realized immediately.
Realized what he had just done.
His expression changed instantly.
Of course it did.
Y/N literally started laughing breathlessly.
ā Oh no.
She rested her forehead against his, still laughing softly.
ā Donāt make that face.
ā Y/Nā
ā Obi-Wan, you kissed me like a man dying of thirst in the desert.
She raised an amused eyebrow.
ā And honestly? Completely worth waiting ten years for.
Y/N was still laughing quietly when Obi-Wan kissed her again.
This time without hesitation.
Without room for doubt.
One hand held her firmly by the waist while the other remained against her face like he was still trying to convince himself this was real.
And maybe it was.
Because after so many years imagining this in silence, it felt impossible that she was actually here, kissing him back like that ā intense, warm, like someone who had also spent far too long waiting.
Y/N tugged at his tunic again.
ā Well look at that, ā she murmured between kisses. ā So you really did know how to kiss this whole time.
Obi-Wan let out a soft laugh against her mouth.
ā You talk too much.
ā And you spent ten years repressing emotions in the desert. I think I won this argument.
That almost made him genuinely laugh.
But then she kissed him again and whatever rational line remained completely disappeared.
Her hands slid over his shoulders, his beard, the slightly gray hair at his temples, like she was relearning every detail.
Like she was afraid he might disappear again.
Obi-Wan felt that immediately.
And the way he held her changed.
Firmer.
Closer.
Like a silent promise.
Y/N noticed.
She rested her forehead against his for a moment, both of them breathing far too fast now.
ā Thereās still time for you to run away and become an emotionally repressed monk again, Kenobi.
Obi-Wan looked directly at her.
And there was something dangerously sincere in his eyes when he answered:
ā I think Iāve spent enough time running from you.
Obi-Wan kissed her again after that. Slowly. As if he was still trying to understand that he finally could.
Y/N cupped his face in her hands, feeling the absurd care in every touch. Obi-Wan had always been like that. Even when he was younger. Even during the war. Gentle in a way almost nobody ever noticed.
He pulled her closer into his lap as the kisses turned slower, longer, like the two of them were relearning each other after far too many years apart.
Y/N slid her fingers along the back of his neck, feeling the immediate shiver she caused. That still amused her a little.
ā You still react like this every time I touch you here, ā she murmured near his mouth.
Obi-Wan let out a quiet breath against her neck.
ā Maybe because youāre doing it on purpose.
ā Maybe.
She smiled softly when he kissed her shoulder slowly. Then her collarbone. Completely unhurried. Like someone trying to memorize every part of her.
His fingers moved slowly along her waist while she felt his breathing becoming less controlled little by little. Honestly, it was a little satisfying realizing that Obi-Wan Kenobi could completely lose his composure because of her like this.
She rested her forehead against his gently.
Both of them breathing far too close together.
ā Youāre overthinking again, arenāt you?
Her voice came out soft. Almost affectionate. Obi-Wan smiled faintly without lifting his head.
ā A little.
ā About what?
He took a second to answer. As if he was still learning how to say these things out loud.
ā About how long I waited for this.
Her chest tightened immediately.
Y/N caressed his face slowly.
ā Me too.
Then Obi-Wan kissed her again, and this time there was less hesitation. His hands held her carefully, but there was need in them now too ā like someone finally allowing himself to feel everything he had spent years burying.
Y/N let her eyes close as he kissed her slowly, like the rest of the galaxy could wait a few more hours. And for the first time in a very long time, maybe it actually could.
The kiss that followed was intense and tender, filled with years of longing, as he decided to ignore every rule of the Order that had once kept him restrained. Gently, she slipped out of her dress, revealing her soft skin beneath the dim light of the room. Obi-Wan kissed her with desperate passion, but also with a tenderness that made her heart ache, reminding her of the innocent moments when they had been young and free.
Soon, she could feel his arousal between her thighs. He was hard, aching for her. It felt as though years of buried desire were finally becoming real. There was so much repression between them.
They held each other close, their bodies fitting together perfectly as if time had never passed. She let out soft moans, consumed by desire and excitement. Obi-Wanās hands moved anxiously across her body, his expression almost lost, like he was desperate to have her right there.
When he finally revealed himself, he looked exactly the way Y/N had imagined countless times when she was younger ā thick and large.
She murmured a quiet protest, but he silenced her with a soft kiss.
ā Easy, ā he whispered against her lips, his eyes shining.
He pulled back just enough to admire her naked body. The dim light of the room cast shadows across her skin, and his trembling hand slid from her shoulder down to the curve of her waist.
ā So beautiful, ā his voice came out rough, almost reverent.
Y/N felt heat rise to her cheeks, but she didnāt look away. She watched him with the same intensity ā the tousled hair, the bare chest still rising and falling unevenly, the unsteady breathing. He was already hard and aching for her, but he didnāt seem in any hurry.
Obi-Wan leaned down and pressed a kiss to her shoulder. Then another, lower. And another, slowly descending toward her breasts, teeth grazing softly against her skin. She gasped when he reached her chest, feeling her skin shiver beneath his lips. She held her breath when his mouth hovered over her left nipple, warm and close without touching it yet.
ā Youāre so sensitive, ā he murmured, pleased by the way her body reacted to every touch.
ā Obi-Wan⦠ā his name escaped her like a plea.
He smiled against her skin.
ā Wait.
Finally, he circled his tongue around her nipple in a slow, wet motion. She moaned, fingers twisting into the sheets. He repeated the movement more slowly this time, teasing her before gently sucking the hardened peak. Her moan grew louder as he alternated between licking and sucking while his other hand found her right breast, pinching her nipple with careful precision.
ā Your breasts are perfect, ā he said, voice muffled against her skin as he moved to the other side, giving it the same devoted attention.
Y/N arched her back, pressing herself into his mouth, but he controlled the pace. Every lick, every suck was deliberate, measured to draw another sound from her lips. Her legs parted instinctively, one wrapping around his waist to pull him closer.
But he didnāt give in. Instead, he kept moving lower. She rolled her hips slowly against his hard length, letting him feel exactly how wet she already was for him, silently begging for friction.
His kisses left a damp trail down her stomach, around her navel, lower across her belly. She felt every place his lips touched her skin ā a cool burn that made her tremble with anticipation. When he reached her hip, he paused, burying his face in the soft curve between her thighs.
She couldnāt answer. She only moaned when he spread her legs farther apart with his hands, opening her completely for him. She was soaked, her folds glistening with moisture, already swollen and desperate for attention.
Obi-Wan lingered there, staring at her as though she were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He brushed his thumb gently between her folds, spreading the wetness, and she shuddered beneath the touch.
ā Please, ā she whispered, voice trembling. ā Please, Obi-Wan.
He obeyed. He leaned in and dragged his tongue slowly upward in one long, deliberate stroke. Her moan came out sharp, almost broken. He repeated it more slowly this time, savoring her taste, feeling the softness of her against his tongue.
ā So sweet, ā he murmured thickly before diving back in.
He kissed and licked her with slow, careful devotion while one hand held her thigh open and the other slid up her body, finding her breast again, teasing her nipple in rhythm with his mouth.
Y/N lost all sense of time. Every touch pulled her closer to the edge, but he kept slowing down at the last second, teasing her until she was moaning nonsense, fingers tangled in his reddish hair.
He answered by moving faster, one finger sliding inside her slowly while his mouth focused on her most sensitive spot. She tightened around him and he groaned against her, the vibration making her cry out.
ā Thatās it, ā he murmured, curling his finger perfectly. ā Come for me, Y/N.
She shattered.
The orgasm hit her like a wave, consuming her completely. Her legs trembled, hips lifting against his mouth as her broken moans mixed with the wet sounds of his lips and tongue prolonging her pleasure until she collapsed back against the mattress, breathless.
He didnāt stop immediately. He kissed her more slowly now, drawing out every tremor and shiver.
When he finally lifted his head, his lips glistened and his expression was full of quiet pride.
She pulled him back up over her, and he went willingly, covering her body with his own. When his lips met hers again, she tasted herself on his tongue ā sweet and intimate. The kiss made her moan softly against his mouth.
ā Do you like your own taste? ā he asked between kisses, voice rough and low.
She answered by biting gently at his lower lip.
ā I want more.
He laughed softly and rolled his hips against hers, already hard and desperate.
ā Youāll have it.
She arched against the mattress, fingers intertwined with his as he slowly pushed inside her, filling something far deeper than physical emptiness. It felt like the Force itself was binding them together in a way nobody else could ever understand.
ā Obi-Wan, ā his name fell from her lips in a trembling whisper mixed with a moan when he moved deeper.
He rested his forehead against hers, breathing hot and uneven, blue eyes dark with desire but also vulnerability he never showed anyone else.
ā Y/N⦠I waited so long. So long. ā His voice broke as he buried his face against her neck, kissing her skin while he moved deeper.
She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him impossibly closer, wanting every part of him against her. Her body welcomed him perfectly, every thrust sending heat through her entire body.
ā Donāt stop, ā she pleaded, nails digging into his back. ā Please donāt stop.
He answered with a deep kiss, his tongue moving with the same rhythm as his hips while his free hand slid between them to touch her again, drawing trembling sounds from her lips.
The room filled with uneven breathing and soft moans. The bed creaked beneath them, but neither cared. There was only heat, skin, and the way they clung to each other like they were trying to make up for years apart.
She felt another orgasm building rapidly, her body beginning to shake.
ā Obi-Wan, Iām going toā ā her voice disappeared into a cry when he moved faster.
ā Come with me, ā he whispered against her lips, eyes locked onto hers with burning intensity. ā Let me feel you.
She came apart in his arms again, body trembling violently as pleasure overwhelmed her. He followed moments later, burying his face against her shoulder as he reached his own release, body tense and shaking against hers.
Afterward they stayed tangled together, heavy breathing filling the quiet room. He kissed her forehead, then her nose, then her lips ā soft, almost innocent kisses, like he was trying to preserve the moment forever.
ā Stay with me, ā he whispered, voice still rough. ā Just a little longer.
She smiled, running her fingers through his hair.
ā Always.
She had imagined he would lose control quickly after so many years without this ā but he lasted far longer than she expected. Much longer. Honestly, the man was a sin.
And Y/N wanted him to feel everything he had denied himself for all those years.
So, between kisses and breathless laughter, she murmured against his mouth:
ā I canāt believe we waited this long to do this.
Alderaanās light filtered softly through the curtains when Y/N woke up. For one brief moment, everything felt calm.
Then she noticed the empty space beside her.
A quiet breath escaped through her nose, her eyes still closed.
ā Impressive, ā she muttered, voice rough with sleep. ā Not even after sex can you sleep like a normal person.
No answer.
Y/N slowly opened her eyes and found him sitting at the edge of the bed with his back to her, staring out at the city beyond the window as though the weight of the entire galaxy rested on his shoulders.
The sheet hung low on his waist, exposing the scars scattered across his back.
Some she recognized from the wars. Others she didnāt.
Something inside her tightened immediately.
Because Obi-Wan looked⦠alone.
Even there. Even after the night theyād shared.
She watched him silently for a few seconds ā the tension in his shoulders, the rigid posture, the way his hands rested on his knees like someone trying to keep his thoughts from slipping out.
Classic morning Jedi existential crisis.
ā So⦠ā she started slowly ā on a scale from one to āI completely abandoned the Jedi Code,ā how bad is the panic?
Obi-Wan closed his eyes for a moment.
That answered before words ever could.
Y/N let out a tired, quiet laugh. Not mocking. Softer than that. More affectionate.
She pulled the sheet around herself and slowly moved across the bed before wrapping her arms around him from behind in silence.
Obi-Wan went completely still the instant she touched him.
She felt his heartbeat quicken immediately beneath her hands.
Y/N rested her forehead carefully against his back, feeling his warmth. The absurd reality of finally being able to touch him like this without having to run afterward.
For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.
And honestly, that felt more intimate than anything else.
ā Hey, ā she murmured softly.
Obi-Wan exhaled slowly.
ā I ruined everything.
The words were so sincere they nearly split her in half.
Y/N closed her eyes for a moment.
Of course thatās what he was thinking.
She held him a little tighter.
ā You really donāt know how to do this in a healthy way, do you?
A weak laugh escaped him. Small. Exhausted.
Enough of a victory for her to keep going.
ā Obi-Wan⦠look at me.
He hesitated. Then partially turned his face toward her.
And that hurt.
Because there was real guilt in his eyes.
As though heād done something terrible. As though loving her were some kind of moral failure.
Y/N lifted a hand slowly to his face, her fingers brushing through his beard.
More gray now.
Still absurdly beautiful.
ā I need you to listen to me very carefully right now.
Obi-Wan held her gaze in silence.
ā You didnāt force me into anything.
She spoke calmly.
ā You didnāt manipulate me. You didnāt deceive me. You didnāt ruin my life because you kissed me.
His jaw tightened immediately. She noticed.
ā Cassian died because he tried to kill me.
Her voice faltered slightly at that part. She took a slow breath.
ā And I went to your bed because I wanted to.
Her thumb brushed slowly across his cheek.
ā I spent years trying to forget you, Obi-Wan. And honestly? That should tell you something.
His eyes closed slowly, like someone absorbing a blow.
Or maybe finally allowing comfort in after far too many years without it.
Y/N studied him carefully for a moment before sighing dramatically.
ā Besidesā¦
She rested her chin against his shoulder.
ā It would be incredibly unfair of you to let me experience that once and then go back to being an emotionally devastated monk again.
That finally made him laugh properly.
And Y/N thought it mightāve been the most beautiful sound sheād heard in years.
Obi-Wan turned a little more toward her.
Still close. Far too close.
His hand found hers at her waist automatically.
Natural.
Like his body already knew exactly where she belonged.
ā You should be worse at this, ā he murmured.
ā At what?
ā Convincing me.
A small smile appeared on Y/Nās lips.
ā Maybe Iām just tired of watching you suffer alone.
----
Obi-Wan was still holding her far too close when Y/N slowly ran her fingers through his hair, watching him with almost offensively careful attention.
Then she narrowed her eyes dramatically.
ā Thereās a white hair right here.
Obi-Wan immediately let out a tired smile.
ā Thank you.
ā No, wait, let me finish.
She leaned closer, pretending to inspect him seriously.
ā Still absurdly handsome. Unfortunately.
That made him laugh softly again. Y/N was beginning to find the sound dangerously addictive ā the way he was starting to laugh more easily around her.
She rested her arms over his shoulders again.
ā You know I had a theory back at the Temple, right?
ā That sounds threatening.
ā I used to think you got more attractive when you lost your patience.
Obi-Wan arched a brow.
ā That was your theory?
ā Yes. I conducted extensive scientific observation.
ā Scientific.
ā Obviously.
She smiled completely unapologetically.
ā And honestly? The results were excellent.
Obi-Wan slowly shook his head like a man who absolutely should not still be this in love with her.
ā You were an unbelievable problem as a Padawan.
Y/N looked offended.
ā I was charming.
ā You literally sabotaged my training sessions.
ā Lies.
He looked directly at her. She held his gaze for two seconds before smiling.
ā Okay. Maybe a little.
Obi-Wan laughed quietly through his nose as she continued:
ā But it was your fault too.
ā Mine?
ā Yes, yours.
She pointed accusingly at him.
ā You had that whole āIām extremely disciplined and responsibleā attitude and it irritated my soul on a spiritual level.
ā So you decided to make my life miserable.
ā I decided to test the emotional limits of young Obi-Wan Kenobi.
She tilted her head innocently.
ā For science.
That made him laugh properly again.
More openly this time.
And Y/N literally felt her chest tighten at the sound, because it had been so long since sheād imagined hearing Obi-Wan laugh like that again.
She noticed the exact moment he realized she was staring at him.
ā What?
Her smile softened just slightly.
ā I missed that.
His expression changed immediately.
Then Obi-Wan slowly lifted a hand to her face.
ā You used to laugh a lot more before the war.
That caught her off guard.
Because it was true.
She looked away for a second.
ā Yeah.
Silence.
Then she smiled faintly again.
ā But you still make me laugh.
His eyes softened instantly.
And honestly?
She needed to break that intensity before she started crying like an emotional idiot.
So she took a dramatic breath.
ā Although I do have to sayā¦
She dragged her fingers through his beard again, teasing.
ā I never imagined the legendary General Kenobi would be this desperate for attention.
Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes immediately.
ā Desperate?
ā Extremely.
She nodded with the confidence of the entire galaxy.
ā You literally look like a starving man every time I kiss you.
That clearly caught him off guard. The faint blush that spread across his face was immediate, and Y/N smiled with dangerous satisfaction.
ā Oh, that is never going to stop being entertaining.
Obi-Wan gripped her waist firmly again and pulled her even closer in one quick movement.
Now it was her turn to lose her breath a little.
ā Careful.
His voice came out low.
Warm.
Far too close.
ā You tease someone who spent ten years alone in a desert far too much.
An immediate shiver ran down her spine.
But obviously, she decided to make it worse.
ā That might be the hottest threatening thing youāve ever said to me.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes for a second like a man reconsidering every life choice heād ever made.
She almost laughed.
But then he slowly turned his head and kissed the corner of her mouth.
Then her jaw.
Slowly.
And that was it.
Now she was the one beginning to forget how to form coherent thoughts.
Obi-Wan noticed immediately.
That small, dangerously satisfied smile appeared on his face for the first time.
ā Interesting.
Y/N narrowed her eyes instantly.
ā Donāt start.
ā So you lose focus too.
She pointed at him indignantly.
ā That was a low blow.
ā You started it.
ā Yes, but I wasnāt expecting you to learn this fast.
That made him laugh again before pulling her back onto his lap like heād already decided he didnāt want any distance between them for the rest of the night.
Slowly.
But with certainty now.
Like a man finally allowing himself to want something.
A soft laugh escaped her as she felt the movement, her hands automatically resting on his shoulders to steady herself.
ā Well, look who suddenly got confidentā
The sentence died halfway through.
Because the sheet slipped slowly down her body at that exact moment.
And Obi-Wan simply stopped.
Completely.
His eyes moved over her slowly, like heād forgotten every coherent thought heād ever had.
Y/N felt her heart stumble a little.
Because that wasnāt just desire in his expression.
It looked like admiration.
Reverence.
She tried to recover the sarcasm first.
ā Donāt look at me like that, Kenobi. I was literally naked five minutes ago.
But Obi-Wan kept staring at her as though he were looking at something impossible.
His hand moved slowly up her arm.
Across her waist.
Until it reached her face again.
His fingers almost trembling.
ā Youāre beautiful.
His voice came out low.
Far too honest.
Y/N immediately felt her chest tighten.
Because Obi-Wan never said things like that lightly.
Never.
His eyes stayed fixed on her as he continued:
ā You always were.
The way he said itā¦
Like heād carried that truth around for years.
Like heād thought about it a thousand times alone in the desert.
She tried to smile. Tried to joke.
But the vulnerability in his voice completely shattered her defenses for a second.
Obi-Wan caressed her face slowly, his eyes locked onto hers now.
ā The most beautiful woman Iāve ever seen.
That destroyed her.
Completely.
Y/N let out a small, breathless laugh, almost trying to hide the emotion before it showed too much.
ā Wowā¦
She shook her head slightly.
ā Did you seriously spend ten years storing romantic lines and decide to use all of them in one night?
The corner of his mouth lifted slowly.
Small.
Almost shy.
ā Iām a little late.
That made her smile immediately.
She gently held his face between her hands, studying him up close.
ā You know I was completely obsessed with you when I was sixteen, right?
Obi-Wan laughed softly.
ā I suspected.
ā Liar. You went out of your way to pretend you didnāt notice.
ā Self-preservation.
ā Cowardice.
That made him smile wider this time.
And honestly, Y/N thought it was absurdly beautiful.
Because Obi-Wan smiling like that made him seem younger.
Closer to the man heād been before the wars.
She slowly ran her fingers through his beard.
ā But I win this argument in the end.
ā Do you?
ā Obviously.
She leaned closer to him again.
Their noses brushing softly together.
ā Because the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi spent his entire life in love with me while trying to fight it.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes briefly when he heard that.
Like a man finally too tired to keep denying the obvious.
Then he opened them again.
And this time, there was no trace of escape left in his gaze.
ā Yes.
The answer came simply.
And Y/N realized immediately that hearing Obi-Wan Kenobi admit that mightāve been the most dangerous thing that had ever happened to her.

The desert of Tatooine had a cruel way of resurrecting memories. During the day, the heat burned everything down into dust. At night, the cold made it feel as though the entire planet was dead.
Obi-Wan Kenobi had been living there in exile for roughly ten years. He lived in silence, having long since accepted his doomed fate. He watched injustices unfold in the streets of Mos Eisley and could do nothing about them, because too many people depended on his anonymity. He had learned not to react when someone mentioned the Jedi with fear or disgust. More than anything, he had learned how to survive without looking back. And yet, of course, there were nights when the past returned. And on that particular night, it returned in the form of his worst nightmare. The girl who haunted him every time he closed his eyes. The one who still made him wonder what might have happened if he had chosen differently.
ā Youāre telling me sheās the only option?
Obi-Wanās voice came out low and tired as he stared at the small blue hologram flickering inside the damp cave where he usually hid. On the other side of the transmission, Bail Organa looked just as exhausted as he felt.
ā I wouldnāt come to you if there were another alternative.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes for a moment. Because there was a very specific reason Bail had hesitated before saying her name.
ā Where is she?
Bail took a second before answering.
ā Nar Shaddaa.
Obi-Wan let out a short breath through his nose, almost a bitter laugh. Nar Shaddaa. The Smugglerās Moon. Then the hologram shifted.
And she appeared.
Even blurred by the poor transmission, Obi-Wan felt his stomach tighten as though she were standing right in front of him again, just like he had imagined dozens and dozens of times.
Y/N.
She looked different from the girl he had known all those years ago. Time had hardened certain parts of her. Her hair was longer now, dark as space itself, partially pulled back. There was a dangerous elegance to her face now, marked by subtle scars that most people probably wouldnāt even notice. Her clothes were too refined for a simple mercenary, yet too practical for a senator. She looked like she belonged exactly in the kind of place Obi-Wan would never willingly step foot in.
And yet, her eyesā¦They were the same. The same eyes that used to watch him during strategy lessons in the Temple. The same eyes that looked away too quickly whenever their fingers brushed during training. The same eyes from that night. The night Obi-Wan had spent fifteen years trying to forget.
ā Who does she work for now? ā he asked, unable to hide the tension in his voice.
ā Herself.
Bail sighed.
ā We need access to an Imperial route that only she can cross. She knows people even the Empire canāt reach.
ā And you think sheāll help?
The senatorās silence answered before his words did.
ā No.
Obi-Wan stared at her holographic image again. Just as beautiful as he remembered. Maybe more. That hardly seemed fair. The universe had a cruel sense of humor.
ā Then why me?
Bail hesitated. It was a rhetorical question. Obi-Wan already knew the answer.
And he also knew that if they ever met again, it would end in disaster.
ā No.
ā Obi-Wanā
ā No.
He stood abruptly, his robes shifting around his worn boots.
ā You canāt ask this of me.
ā I wouldnāt if it werenāt important.
ā Send someone else.
ā There is no one else.
Obi-Wan dragged a tired hand across his face. He hated when Bail did this. Hated when the senator spoke undeniable truths in that calm voice of his. Because then Obi-Wan had nowhere left to run. The hologram flickered again.
ā Sheās getting married.
The words came out of nowhere. Obi-Wan went completely still. Bail immediately looked as though he regretted saying it aloud, but it was too late. Because Obi-Wan understood exactly what Bail meant by it. Everyone back then had known there was something between them. Even they had known. But no one had ever dared say it out loud. Suddenly it felt as though years disappeared all at once. As though he were a young, foolish Padawan again, watching her across the Temple library while pretending to pay attention to a holocron. As though some part of him still existed that was capable of wanting impossible things.
ā Former Imperial officer. Wealthy. Influential. Dangerous.
Of course. Obi-Wan almost smiled. She had always had a habit of standing too close to danger.
ā Whatās his name?
ā Cassian Vale.
Obi-Wan memorized it immediately. Old habit.
ā Does she love him?
The question slipped out before he could stop it. Bail looked away. Obi-Wan closed his eyes slowly. Wonderful. Perfect, really. Because apparently the universe still wasnāt finished punishing him.
Nar Shaddaa never slept. Neon lights painted the rain-slicked streets in shades of purple, red, and gold while loud music echoed from the suspended casinos above.
The air smelled like fuel, alcohol, and danger. Obi-Wan hated the place instantly.
He walked slowly across the metal platform, hidden beneath a worn hood, ignoring the suspicious looks around him.
No one recognized a Jedi there. In fact, no one was even looking for one. In that part of the galaxy, monsters were far too common for anyone to care about ghosts from the Jedi Order.
The information had taken hours to obtain. Y/N was in a private club on the upper levels of the city.
Obi-Wan climbed the stairs slowly. And then he saw her.
For a second, the entire world seemed to go silent.
She was leaning against the circular bar in the center of the main hall, an elegant glass balanced between her fingers, dark hair partially pinned back, soft makeup accentuating her eyes in a way that made her seem older than the girl he remembered.
Sharper. More untouchable.
Subtle jewelry glimmered around her neck while people instinctively stepped aside to make room for her.
She smiled politely. And still, Obi-Wan would have recognized her anywhere in the galaxy. Even after ten years. Even under another name.
Even looking like she completely belonged there.
His chest tightened immediately because, for one ridiculous moment, all he could think was:Ā sheās even more beautiful than I remembered.
Something awful twisted inside Obi-Wanās chest. Something ridiculous. Pathetic. Childish. But he felt it anyway.
Then she turned her head and saw him.
The world stopped.
Her expression disappeared completely. There was no anger. No surprise. Just blankness. Absolute emptiness.
Cassian noticed immediately.
ā Friend of yours?
His voice sounded amused. Y/N didnāt answer. She kept staring at Obi-Wan as if sheād seen a ghost. And maybe she had, because that was exactly how Obi-Wan felt.
Dead a long time ago.
ā Excuse me.
Slowly, she placed her glass on the counter and walked toward him. Every step reminded Obi-Wan far too much of the woman heād tried to forget for ten years in the desert.
She stopped directly in front of him. Too close. Close enough for him to realize she still wore the same floral perfume from years ago. That almost destroyed him more than everything else.
Her eyes scanned the tired face beneath the hood. The marks of time. The beard. The exhaustion. The guilt. She saw all of it.
ā What are you doing here?
Her voice came out soft. Like she was speaking a secret.
He swallowed hard.
ā Celeste.
She tilted her head slightly and smiled then, but it wasnāt kind. It was the kind of smile someone gave before pulling a trigger.
ā You have five seconds to explain why you showed up in my life again before I have someone drag you out of here.
Obi-Wan shouldāve expected that. Part of him had crossed half the galaxy counting on exactly that reaction. Even so, hearing those words from her still hurt.
Around them, the club remained loudāmusic, glasses clinking, people laughingābut it all felt distant now. Because Y/N was there. Close enough for him to see the tension hidden in her jaw. Close enough to know she was truly angry.
And Obi-Wan knew he deserved it.
ā Five seconds? ā he asked quietly.
Her expression didnāt change.
ā Four.
He almost smiled. Because that was familiar too.
ā I need your help.
ā Three.
ā Itās important.
ā Two.
ā People are going to die.
ā One.
She crossed her arms.
ā Then let them.
The words came out cold. Nearly cruel. But Obi-Wan also noticed the slight way her fingers tightened around her own arm. The irritated shine in her eyes. She was nervous. Anxious.
Cassian appeared behind her then, far too elegant for a place like that, a golden drink in hand.
ā Problem, my love?
My love.
Obi-Wan instantly hated the way he said it.
Y/N didnāt take her eyes off Obi-Wan. Not for a second.
ā No, ā she answered. ā Just an old acquaintance.
Cassian studied Obi-Wan quickly. The typical look of powerful men: calculating threat, status, usefulness. And clearly concluding Obi-Wan was none of the three.
Good. Better that way.
ā Can I help with something? ā Cassian asked, far too polite.
Obi-Wan recognized the refined Imperial accent immediately. High-ranking officer, no doubt.
Men like that were difficult to fool. Always suspicious.
ā No, ā Y/N answered before Obi-Wan could. ā He was just leaving.Ā
Obi-Wan was far too old for this. Too old to feel his chest tighten because a woman said she wanted him gone.
And yetā
ā I need to speak with you alone.
She let out a short laugh devoid of humor.
ā No.
ā Listenā
ā I donāt want to hear whatever it is you came to say.
ā So thatās it, ā she murmured. ā Bail sent you.
ā Yes.
She laughed softly. Somehow that sounded worse than anger.
ā Incredible. After disappearing for ten years, you come back because you need something.
ā Itās not like that.
ā No?
Her eyes finally faltered. Real pain surfacing behind the anger.
ā Because it feels exactly like that, Obi-Wan.
For the first time in ten years, she called him by his name. And her voice sounded disappointed.
He inhaled slowly.
ā I thought you were dead.
She went still.
ā What?
ā After Order 66⦠I searched for your name in Imperial lists. Reports. Intercepted transmissions. You just vanished.
Y/N stared at him silently. The music of the club felt distant now.
ā I had to disappear, a ā she finally answered.
ā I know.
ā No. You donāt.
Her voice cracked for the first time. Tiny enough that no one else would notice. But Obi-Wan knew her. Knew every shift in her voice. Every silence. Every lie.
ā They hunted anyone connected to the Jedi, ā she continued. ā Even people who were never officially part of the Order. Allies. Informants. Children.- She looked away. ā I watched entire planets burn because someone suspected a Jedi was hiding there.
Guilt rose inside Obi-Wan like poison. Because he knew that feeling too. But heād been in exile. He hadnāt watched it happen firsthand for ten straight years.
ā So I found a way to survive, the ā she said coldly. ā That became my only priority.
That was so painfullyĀ herĀ it almost hurt to breathe.
Then she sighed, exhausted.
ā By marrying someone from the Empire? ā His voice came out low and desperate.
ā If necessaryā¦
The sentence died before it fully formed. She looked away first.
ā You learn to accept strange things after spending too long trying not to die.
She looked back at him, more serious now.
ā What exactly does Bail want?
Obi-Wan hesitated for a second before answering. Because this was already a victory. Small, but still.
ā Thereās a girl.
Y/N immediately understood. Her eyes narrowed.
ā Someone importantās daughter?
ā Yes.
ā Imperial?
ā No.
She studied him another moment. Then realization hit, and her expression shifted entirely.
ā Oh.
Obi-Wan tensed.
Y/N let out a soft, incredulous laugh.
ā Youāre protecting someone.
He didnāt answer. He didnāt need to.
She rubbed a hand over her face slowly.
ā Of course you are. ā She looked directly into his eyes again. ā Still trying to save the entire universe on your own, arenāt you?
The question came softly.
ā Not the entire universe, ā Obi-Wan replied quietly. ā Just one person.
Y/N held his gaze for several seconds, as if deciding whether she hated that answer or not.
Maybe both.
Then she exhaled slowly and ran a hand through her hair.
ā This is a terrible idea.
ā I know.
ā No, you donāt understand. You showing up here is already bad enough. Cassian knows high-ranking Imperial officers. He notices things.
ā Did he notice something?
She laughed shortly.
ā He noticed I nearly stopped breathing when I saw you.
Silence.
Obi-Wan looked away first.
That only seemed to irritate her more.
ā Great, ā she muttered. ā Keep doing that.
ā Doing what?
ā Running away. Like always.
She looked too exhausted to hide anything now.
ā Y/Nā
ā No. ā she cut him off, ignoring the fact he had used her real name. ā You donāt get to show up after ten years and act like nothing happened.
He fell silent. Because there was no possible defense.
She let out a humorless laugh.
ā You know what the worst part was?
That made Obi-Wan lift his eyes immediately.
The club was still alive around them, people dancing, bargaining, laughing, while their world seemed trapped in another time.
ā I waited for you, ā she said. ā For months. For years.
His chest tightened violently.
ā Y/Nā¦
ā I thought youād come back.
Her voice only wavered a little.
ā Even after the Order fell. Even after everything. I thought that⦠ā she swallowed hard. ā I thought you would come looking for me. Come⦠save me.
Obi-Wan looked incapable of breathing. Because he had wanted to. Nothing in the galaxy could have stopped him from searching for her. But Anakin had fallen. The Order had died. And Obi-Wan had buried too many parts of himself during those years to ever go back.
ā I was trying to keep Luke safe, ā he finally said, almost hating his own excuse.
She nodded slowly. Like someone who had already expected to hear that.
ā Of course you were.
For the first time, she looked away from him.
Watching Cassian in the distance, talking to two officers near the VIP tables.
ā He proposed to me eight months ago, ā she said suddenly.
Obi-Wan felt his stomach drop, but kept his expression neutral. Years of training in self-control finally useful for something.
ā You seem happy.
She slowly turned back toward him, and Obi-Wan realized the mistake immediately. Because Y/N almost smiled, and it was a sad smile.
ā Youāre still a terrible liar.
Silence.
She watched him for a few more seconds before sighing.
ā Cassian is⦠safe.
The word sounded strange in her mouth.
Wrong.
ā He has influence. Resources. Dangerous people are afraid of him. In a universe like this⦠that means survival.
Obi-Wan nodded slowly.
He understood perfectly.
ā Do you love him?
The question escaped before he could stop it. Y/N closed her eyes for a moment, as if she were tired of that particular question.
Then she opened them again.
ā Does it matter?
It did. Far more than it should have. He wanted to tell her that if she didnāt love Cassian, then he would take her away from all of this, somewhere far away where they could recover the years theyād lost and maybe even be⦠happy.
But Obi-Wan only answered:
ā No.
She stared at him for a long moment, as if they both knew that was a lie.
Then the communicator attached to her wrist vibrated.
Cassian.
Y/N shut her eyes briefly.
ā Perfect timing.
She activated the device. A male voice came through immediately.
ā Darling? Where did you go?
Instantly, another version of her appeared. Softer. Controlled. Elegant. Obi-Wan had almost forgotten how good she was at this.
ā Talking business, ā she answered naturally. ā Iām coming back now.
ā I thought youād gotten rid of the beggar Jedi.
Obi-Wanās blood ran cold.
Y/N froze.
Cassianās voice continued, far too amused.
ā Relax. I can recognize a Jedi even drunk.
Silence.
Obi-Wan immediately felt her hand grab his arm.
Pure instinct. Like she was saying run without needing words.
ā Cassianā
ā Bring him too.
Now his voice sounded completely different. Colder. Dangerous.
ā I think the three of us need to talk.
The transmission ended, and for a second neither of them said anything.
Then Y/N muttered a curse under her breath.
ā I hate that man sometimes.
Obi-Wan discreetly scanned the room. Two men near the entrance were already looking in their direction.
Armed.
ā Does he still work for the Empire?
ā Not officially.
Which meant something even worse.
She quickly grabbed Obi-Wan by the arm.
ā Move.
ā Y/Nā
They crossed the club quickly. Obi-Wan could feel the stares following them. Could see hands subtly moving toward hidden weapons. Cassian had already prepared everything in that short amount of time.
Y/N opened a side door, leading them into a narrow corridor bathed in red light. Far too quiet compared to the rest of the club.
She immediately released his arm once she realized she was still holding him.
ā He knows who you are, ā Y/N said.
ā He suspects.
ā Small difference.
She started pacing, clearly thinking fast. Obi-Wan watched her in silence.
And then he noticed it.
The ring.
Small. Elegant. Silver.
Her hand automatically followed his gaze. And for the first time since their reunion, Y/N looked genuinely uncomfortable.
ā Donāt start.
ā I didnāt say anything.
ā But you thought it.
She knew him too well.
Obi-Wan looked away. That only seemed to irritate her again.
ā You canāt just show up out of nowhere and look at me like that.
ā Like what?
She laughed without humor.
ā Like I did something wrong by moving on.
Silence.
Because part of him probably did feel that way. Even knowing he had no right.
ā You deserved to be happy, ā Obi-Wan finally said.
Her expression changed instantly. That caught her off guard.
ā Obi-Wanā¦
ā I wanted that for you.
And it was true. Cruelly true.
Y/N stared at him silently.
ā I was supposed to be by your sideā¦
Her voice came out low. Confessional.
ā Not his.
Obi-Wanās heart missed an entire beat.
Y/N kept staring at him for a second before exhaling slowly.
ā Well, that complicates things a little.
Obi-Wan was already scanning the surroundings automatically, calculating escape routes, guards, exits.
ā How many men does he have here?
ā A lot.
Then she looked at him, and for the first time since he appeared, she looked genuinely worried.
ā Obi-Wan⦠Cassian isnāt stupid.
ā I noticed.
Y/N rubbed a hand over her forehead quickly, thinking.
Then something shifted in her expression.
ā Alright. Listen carefully.
Y/N took a deep breath. Then lifted her eyes to him. And Obi-Wan realized instantly.
ā No.
ā You donāt even know what Iām going to say.
ā I know you.
She completely ignored that.
ā Heād never believe you just happened to show up here by accident. But heĀ wouldĀ believe it ifā
She discreetly opened a hidden side pocket in her dress and pulled out a pair of metallic handcuffs.
Obi-Wan stared immediately.
ā Youāre joking.
ā Unfortunately, Iāve always dreamed of handcuffing you. ā Her voice came out low. Teasing. She raised an eyebrow as she stepped closer with the cuffs. ā If I walk in there with you free, we both die.
ā Y/Nā
ā Trust me.
The words came out fast. As if ten years hadnāt passed. As if they were still partners on some ridiculous Republic mission.
She stepped closer without hesitation and locked one cuff around his wrist.
Her touch burned instantly.
Obi-Wan caught her perfume again.
Y/N looked down at the chain connecting them and sighed dramatically.
ā Wow⦠this is going to start terrible rumors about me.
Obi-Wan let out a tired breath through his nose.
ā Youāre still impossible.
She smiled slightly. The first real smile from her since he arrived.
ā And youāre still dramatically handsome.
ā Try to look dangerous, ā she murmured as they started walking. ā Right now you look like an exhausted professor being dragged to a meeting with the school board.
Obi-Wan literally looked away for half a second.
That nearly made him smile.
Because it was exactly the kind of thing she used to say when they were younger too. Stubborn. Impulsive. Brilliant.
Then she tugged lightly on the chain, and Lady Celeste returned instantly. Elegant posture. Cold eyes.
ā What does he have? ā Obi-Wan asked quietly.
Y/N glanced at him quickly.
ā What?
ā The object. The map. Whatever Bail needs.
She hesitated for half a second.
Long enough.
ā Y/N.
She rubbed a hand over her face. Irritated. Tired.
ā He has an Imperial navigation cylinder.
That caught his attention immediately.
ā Secret routes?
She nodded.
ā Routes used for prisoner transport and Imperial movements outside official records.
Refugees. Surviving Jedi.
That thing was worth more than gold.
Obi-Wan suddenly understood why Bail was desperate.
ā Does Cassian keep it with him?
ā Always.
She guided him back into the main hall.
The music was still loud. Golden lights reflected against marble floors. No one had any idea a Jedi was walking handcuffed through the middle of the casino.
Some guests stared discreetly. Others immediately moved aside after recognizing the lightsaber hanging from Obi-Wanās belt.
Y/N kept walking as if he were nothing more than another inconvenience in her evening.
Far too perfect at this.
Obi-Wan watched her from the corner of his eye as they crossed the casino.
And he realized something dangerous:
She had survived all these years by turning herself into someone he barely recognized.
But every once in a while⦠Y/N still slipped through the cracks in Celeste.
He breathed slowly.
The Force whispered danger all around them.
The private elevator rose slowly toward the upper levels of the casino.
Only the muffled sound of music from below and the metallic hum of the cuff binding Obi-Wan to her.
Y/N maintained her flawless posture, one hand holding the short chain while she watched the numbers on the panel rise.
ā Youāre enjoying this way too much, ā he murmured.
Y/N almost smiled.
ā Honestly? A little.
The elevator doors opened.
The top floor of the casino was far too quiet compared to the rest of the building. Dark. Luxurious. Guards positioned at strategic points.
One of them approached immediately.
ā Miss Celeste. Is everything alright?
Y/N slightly lifted the handcuffs, as though they were just another irritating inconvenience from the night.
The guardās eyes widened subtly when he recognized the lightsaber attached to Obi-Wanās belt.
ā Send reinforcements to the hallway, ā Y/N continued calmly. ā Nobody enters until Cassian decides what to do with him.
The guards nodded immediately.
Obi-Wan observed everything in silence while she guided him down the hallway illuminated by soft golden lights.
Then he spoke quietly enough that no one else could hear:
ā You got good at this.
She kept walking without looking at him.
ā At ordering men around? Oh, I enjoy that quite a bit.
That almost pulled a reaction out of him.
Y/N noticed from the corner of her eye and smiled faintly to herself.
ā Thatās not what I meant.
ā I know.
She finally looked at him briefly.
More serious now.
ā You meant participating in illegal business.
Their footsteps echoed against marble as they continued walking.
Then she stopped in front of the massive dark doors to Cassianās office.
She took one deep breath.
The elevator doors closed behind them as they silently ascended the final floors of the casino.
Then her voice appeared in his mind so naturally that Obi-Wan literally stopped breathing.
"When we go in, Iāll distract Cassian somehow."
His eyes immediately snapped toward her.
Y/N kept looking straight ahead. As if she hadnāt said anything at all.
"Youāll take the cylinder and get out before he notices."
Obi-Wan stared at her for an entire second. Too shocked to answer immediately.
Because thatā¦
That was the Force.
After all these years.
Y/Nā¦
She finally turned her face slightly toward him, clearly suppressing a smile.
"You look like youāve seen a ghost."
Obi-Wan kept staring at her as though trying to understand something impossible.
"You still use the Force?"
It came out far more emotional than he intended, and she noticed instantly.
She looked away again.
"Sometimes."
Obi-Wan felt his chest tighten in a strange way.
Because for years he had imagined her in danger. Completely disconnected from who she was.
But no.
The Force was still there. Inside her. Hidden. Quiet. Alive.
"You said you abandoned all of this."
She raised an eyebrow slightly.
"I abandoned you Jedi."
Before he could respond, she added:
"Not the Force."
Then she glanced discreetly at the cuff connecting them.
āTry not to look in love with me when we walk in. Itāll complicate my engagement.ā
Cassian stood near the massive glass windows, watching the endless lights of the city below with a drink in his hand. He turned slowly at the sound of footsteps, immediately raising an eyebrow when he saw Obi-Wan handcuffed beside Y/N.
ā Well⦠this definitely wasnāt the surprise I was expecting tonight.
Y/N entered first, casually pulling the metal chain behind her.
ā You really need to improve security in this casino.
Cassian let out a quiet laugh through his nose while his eyes carefully swept over Obi-Wan.
His gaze went straight to the lightsaber attached to his belt.
Then slowly returned to her.
ā Obi-Wan Kenobi⦠didnāt recognize you at first. Thought you were dead.
ā A lot of people did.
ā Shame they were wrong.
The guards in the office subtly raised their blasters.
Obi-Wan remained motionless. Hood lowered. Tired expression. Dangerously calm.
Cassian approached slowly.
Far too curious.
ā And exactly how did you manage to bring a Jedi in here in handcuffs?
Y/N walked toward the office bar as though the conversation was only mildly inconvenient.
She picked up a glass.
ā Honestly? Iām still trying to figure that out myself. ā She took a small sip. ā I think he tried some weird Jedi thing on me.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes briefly.
Cassian raised an eyebrow.
ā āSome weird Jedi thingā?
ā Got inside my head, maybe. I donāt know.
She lazily swirled the drink between her fingers before continuing:
ā So naturally I got offended, handcuffed him, and brought him to you. Thought it was romantic.
Cassian actually laughed this time.
Obi-Wan looked genuinely exhausted now.
ā Starting to think I shouldāve put you in charge of casino security.
She slightly raised her glass.
ā I charge a lot.
And for nowā¦
Everything still seemed plausible.
A desperate Jedi. Y/N controlling the situation. One strange night becoming even stranger.
Cassian turned his eyes back to Obi-Wan.
ā A Jedi walking into my casino usually doesnāt end well.
ā He was looking for something, ā Y/N answered quickly. ā And clearly didnāt expect to find someone even more irritating than he is.
Cassian lifted an eyebrow slightly.
ā And you managed to handcuff an armed Jedi?
She lightly raised the metal chain.
ā Honestly? Iām as surprised as you are.
Obi-Wan closed his eyes again, visibly tired of her.
Cassian let out another small laugh.
Then he stepped forward until he was standing directly in front of Obi-Wan.
Too close.
Studying him carefully.
ā Maybe I should just kill you now and save myself future headaches.
ā No.
The answer came out too quickly.
Silence followed immediately.
Cassian slowly turned his head toward Y/N.
She held his gaze without hesitation.
ā Obi-Wan Kenobi is worth far more alive than dead, ā she continued naturally. ā Inquisitors would pay fortunes for him. Governors too.
Cassian watched her for another moment.
Thinking.
Then slowly nodded.
ā True.
He returned to the large desk in the center of the office while speaking to the guards.
ā Prepare a secure transmission. I want to find out exactly how much the Empire would pay for the most wanted man in the galaxy.
The guards immediately moved into action.
Holographic terminals activated.
Blue lights illuminated the room.
And in the middle of that small chaosā¦
Y/N casually walked toward the desk as if she were only interested in the hologram.
Then:
ā Oh, waitā
She spilled the entire glass directly over the holographic panel and Cassianās lap.
Sparks exploded instantly.
The hologram glitched.
One of the guards cursed loudly.
Cassian stood abruptly as the drink soaked into his expensive clothes.
ā Damn it, Celesteā
Everyone looked toward the terminal.
The burning wires.
The flickering panel.
The drink dripping everywhere.
Everyone except her hand.
Her fingers slid toward the drawer hidden beside the desk and reached the metal cylinder.
And just like that, the object disappeared into the hidden pocket of her black dress.
Obi-Wanās eyes met hers for half a second.
Only one.
But long enough.
Long enough for him to understand:
Sheād gotten it.
Cassian let out an irritated breath while wiping the front of his clothes.
ā Put him in a cell until I decide what to do with him.
One of the guards nodded immediately and started walking toward Obi-Wan.
ā Iāll take him.
The sentence came out too fast.
Y/N realized the mistake instantly.
Cassian did too.
The office went silent.
Slowly⦠Cassian lifted his eyes from his stained clothes.
ā Youāll take him?
She elegantly crossed her arms.
ā Yes. Iām the one who captured him.
ā Captured.
The word sounded strange in his mouth now.
Thoughtful.
Cassian studied Obi-Wan for a few seconds.
Then looked back at the cuffs.
Then at Y/N.
ā You know what I find curious?
Her heartbeat slowed dangerously.
But her smile stayed perfectly intact.
Cassian ignored it completely.
ā Jedi carry lightsabers.
He slowly took another step toward them.
ā Obi-Wan Kenobi especially.
Another step.
ā And yet you walked in here with him handcuffed without a single scratch on you.
Obi-Wan remained still.
So did Y/N.
Then Cassian tilted his head slightly, watching them far too carefully now.
ā Unless⦠ā He looked directly at her. ā You two are playing together.
Cassian watched her silently for several more seconds.
Then his eyes slowly lowered to the drink spilled across his clothes.
Then to the ruined terminal.
And finally back to Y/N.
ā Curious.
His voice was far too calm.
She maintained the faint smile.
Cassian ignored it completely.
His eyes drifted toward the lightsaber hanging from Obi-Wanās belt.
ā You really expect me to believe⦠ā he started slowly ā that the same woman who managed to capture an armed Jediā¦
Another step.
ā ā¦canāt hold a glass properly?
Y/N felt her stomach sink immediately.
Because that was exactly the kind of detail sheād been terrified Cassian would notice.
Obi-Wan remained motionless beside her, more alert now.
Cassian tilted his head slightly, observing them with almost clinical focus.
ā So I started thinking. ā His eyes shifted toward Obi-Wan. ā Maybe he let you handcuff him. ā Then back to her. ā And that makes me wonder why.
Then his gaze slowly lowered to her hand gripping the chain between them.
And stayed there.
Because she still hadnāt let go.
Not once since theyād entered.
As though she needed the contact.
Something clicked into place in his head.
ā Let him go.
The words came out quietly.
Y/N didnāt move.
Fatal mistake.
Cassian watched that in absolute silence.
Then looked directly at Obi-Wan.
ā Youāre not trying to escape.
Another silence.
ā And sheās not afraid of you.
The two guards were starting to sense the tension now.
Cassian slightly tilted his head, eyes fixed on her.
ā So Iāll ask one more time.
His voice barely sounded like his anymore.
Cold.
Controlled.
A little hurt.
ā Why would a Jedi let you handcuff him, Celeste?
Without taking his eyes off them, he spoke to the guards.
ā Shoot them.
Everything happened too fast.
The closest guard drew his blaster immediately.
Y/N barely had time to breathe before Obi-Wan moved.
In one motion he yanked the cuffs apart, snapping the metal chain while his other hand reached for the lightsaber at his belt.
The blue blade ignited across the office.
The shot came at the exact same moment.
The bolt struck the saber directlyā
And ricocheted violently.
Straight toward Cassian.
Cassian slowly looked down.
At the scorched mark tearing through his dark clothes.
Like his mind was still trying to process what had happened.
Then his eyes lifted toward Y/N.
The glass slipped from his hand onto the marble floor.
His body followed seconds later.
Y/N froze.
Because that wasnāt supposed to happen. Not like that. Not that fast.
The guards started shouting. Another blaster shot tore through the office, but Obi-Wan was already grabbing her arm.
ā Y/N, move.
She kept staring at Cassianās body on the floor.
Unable to breathe properly.
Because in less than ten secondsā¦
Her entire life had fallen apart.
Y/Nās apartment was far too quiet.
Too luxurious. Too clean.
The kind of place built specifically to convince someone they were safe.
Massive windows overlooking the endless lights of Nar Shaddaa. Elegant dark furniture. Rare artwork scattered across the walls.
And now Imperial blood stained the sleeve of Obi-Wanās tunic, ruining the perfect picture.
He watched her move through the room quickly, throwing clothes into a suitcase without any care.
She shoved another piece of clothing violently into the suitcase.
ā Excellent plan, Obi-Wan. Truly brilliant.
ā Y/Nā
ā No.
She turned sharply toward him.
Her eyes burned with genuine anger.
But there was something else there too.
Desperation.
ā Do you have any idea what just happened?
He held her gaze without answering.
Because yes.
He did.
Cassian Vale wasnāt just a wealthy man. He was connected. Influential. Tied to the Empire.
Dangerous people were going to notice his disappearance very quickly.
And Y/N had been engaged to him.
The entire galaxy would assume her involvement.
ā My entire life was here, ā she continued, her voice beginning to crack for the first time. ā My network. My work. Everything I built after the war.
She laughed humorlessly.
ā I spent ten years trying to survive.
Obi-Wan knew exactly what that cost.
She slammed the suitcase shut.
ā And you destroyed all of it in one night.
Silence.
Then Obi-Wan took a step toward her.
Calmer than he shouldāve been.
ā You donāt have to leave.
Y/N froze.
Then let out an incredulous laugh.
ā What?
ā Put the blame on me.
She stared at him like heād gone insane.
ā Iām a fugitive Jedi. Cassian attacked first. You tried to stop it. Simple.
ā Simple?
ā It works.
She started shaking her head before he even finished speaking.
ā No, it doesnāt work.
ā Y/Nā
ā You donāt understand how this world works.
She dragged a hand nervously through her hair.
ā People knew I was with him. Knew I had access to Imperial routes. Knew I understood his business.
She slowly stepped closer.
Eyes fixed on his.
ā And now he turns up dead beside a Jedi who conveniently appeared the same night?
Obi-Wan stayed silent.
She was right.
ā Theyāll assume betrayal, ā she continued. ā Theyāll assume I helped you.
ā Then let them assume it.
That irritated her instantly.
ā Do you think I want to spend the rest of my life running from the Empire?!
The apartment fell silent after the shout.
Y/N was breathing hard now.
Tense.
Exhausted.
And Obi-Wan realized, too late, that part of her anger wasnāt really about Cassian.
It was about him reappearing.
About him destroying the fragile balance sheād spent years building like a house of cards.
She quickly turned her face away.
Like she was trying to regain emotional control.
ā I was leaving this place in three months, ā she said more quietly. ā After the wedding.
Obi-Wan felt his chest tighten.
ā Where?
ā Naboo.
A planet of lakes, gardens, and terrible memories.
Y/N laughed weakly.
ā Funny, isnāt it?
He slowly lifted his eyes.
ā What is?
ā I spent years trying to build a normal life. And the second you reappear⦠everything falls apart.
She held Obi-Wanās gaze directly now.
ā I didnāt love him. I was planning on leaving him.
The words came out quickly. Like it was important to clarify.
ā But I didnāt want him to die either.
Obi-Wan stayed quiet. Because that made it worse somehow. Y/N crossed her arms tightly, like she was trying to hold herself together.
ā It doesnāt matter that it was an accident. It doesnāt matter that he ordered them to shoot first. It doesnāt matter that the Empire created men like him.
She let out a soft laugh.
No humor in it at all.
ā Thatās not how the universe works.
Rain continued hitting the apartment windows behind them.
ā People are going to hunt me for the rest of my life because of this.
Her voice sounded too calm now.
Almost empty.
ā Imperial officers. His contacts. People who owed Cassian money. People who worked for him.
She swallowed hard.
ā And when they find out a Jedi appeared the same night he diedā¦
Finally, she looked back at Obi-Wan.
ā Iām never going to live a normal life again.
Her voice sounded tired now. Not angry. Worse. Because sadness had always been harder to endure when it came from her.
ā I never wanted this.
She looked directly at him and that was a mistake. Because there was too much emotion there. Too much history still alive between them.
ā I know, ā she whispered.
Obi-Wan looked down at the suitcase on the floor. The reality of it finally beginning to settle in. She really was leaving. Because of him. Again.
ā You should hate me, ā he said quietly.
Y/N almost smiled.
But her eyes were far too wet now.
ā Obi-Wan⦠I tried.
That destroyed him in the quietest possible way.
She had tried to move on. Tried to love someone else. Tried to build something safe. Tried to erase him from her life. And clearly failed. Just like he did.
Y/N moved through the apartment grabbing important things with quick, practiced movements while Obi-Wan remained near the window, watching the lights of Nar Shaddaa flicker outside.
He could still feel Cassianās death on his hands.
Even years after the fall of the Order, that feeling never completely disappeared.
Y/N appeared again, stuffing clothes into the open suitcase on the couch.
ā Cassian wasnāt perfect.
Obi-Wan stayed silent.
Y/N slowly ran a hand through her hair.
ā After Order 66⦠I was on Corellia.
She started speaking without looking directly at him.
ā Two Inquisitors arrived on the planet. Someone recognized me.
Obi-Wan felt his stomach sink.
Because he knew exactly how those stories usually ended.
ā I managed to escape, but I was injured.
She laughed softly.
ā Then an Imperial officer found me bleeding in an alley. Cassian. I thought he was going to turn me in, but it turned out he didnāt even recognize me, so I invented this whole Celeste persona. He genuinely wanted to help me⦠just because he didnāt know who I really was.
That finally made her look directly at him.
And Obi-Wan noticed something strange there.
Old confusion.
Maybe not even she fully understood it.
ā I think he liked broken things.
Y/N looked away again.
ā After that⦠he kept showing up. Helping me.
She almost smiled.
ā And then you fell in love with him.
ā No.
The quick answer surprised Obi-Wan.
ā I liked him. These last eight months living together were nice.
Another pause.
ā But love?
She slowly shook her head.
ā I could never love someone from the Empire.
Obi-Wan watched her silently.
Y/N continued before he could say anything:
ā Cassian was kind to me, and he genuinely believed he was saving the galaxy in his own way.
Distracted, she brushed her thumb along the sleeve of her jacket.
ā But every time he talked about the Jedi⦠about rebels⦠about ādangerous peopleā⦠I remembered the Temple burning.
Her voice grew quieter.
More distant.
ā The clones shooting children.
Silence.
ā I slept beside him knowing that if he ever found out who I really was, heād probably hand me over without hesitation.
Something horrible tightened in Obi-Wanās chest.
Y/N laughed quietly through her nose.
ā Complicated life. I know.
Obi-Wan slowly rested his forearms on his knees.
ā And you still stayed.
She turned toward him slowly.
There was only exhaustion in her eyes now.
ā Where else was I supposed to go?
That hit him immediately.
She held his gaze for another second before adding:
ā Live with you on Tatooine? Making friendship bracelets? Being little āfriends with no benefitsā?
The silence afterward turned dangerously heavy because they both knew she was right.
Then she walked toward a metallic wall near the kitchen.
Stopped there, as though deciding something.
ā This definitely violates at least ten Imperial laws.
Then she discreetly pressed her hand against a hidden panel and a small compartment slid open.
Obi-Wan felt it immediately. The Force. Faint, but there. She slowly opened the box. And Obi-Wan stopped breathing. Her lightsaber was inside.
Untouched. Years of fine dust covering the silver-and-gold metal. Y/N stared at it silently. Without touching it. Like she was looking at a ghost.
Obi-Wan physically felt the impact of the sight. Because he remembered that lightsaber. Remembered her building it as a Padawan, frustrated because the crystal alignment kept failing. Remembered Qui-Gon laughing at her. Remembered her complaining for hours. Remembered the first time she ignited it with that proud smile on her face. And now it looked⦠Wrong. Old. Buried.
ā I shouldāve thrown this away.
Her voice came out low this time. No sarcasm.
ā I havenāt used this in years, ā she said quietly.
Obi-Wan approached slowly.
ā But you kept it.
Y/N let out a bitter laugh.
ā Itās hard to throw away half your life.
She finally picked the saber up. And that instantly changed the entire atmosphere of the apartment. Like the past itself had woken up with it. Obi-Wan watched her fingers slowly glide over the metal. Almost lovingly. Almost angrily.
ā I hate this.
ā The saber?
ā What it means.
Her voice faltered slightly.
ā Every time I look at this⦠I remember who I was before everything fell apart.
Obi-Wan swallowed hard. She activated the lightsaber. A brilliant golden glow flooded the apartment.
Gold.
Exactly the way he remembered. And for one absurd moment, it felt like the years between them had never existed. Y/N stared silently at the blade. Then instinctively spun the saber once. The movement was still perfect.
Fluid. Jedi down to her bones. Even after all these years. Even after trying to abandon everything. Obi-Wan realized immediately. She still trained in secret. Maybe not every day. But enough. She noticed that he noticed.
ā Hard habit to kill.
Their eyes met in the golden reflection of the blade.
ā You literally had ONE job.
She deactivated the saber and tossed it into the suitcase.
Obi-Wan almost closed his eyes. Because honestly, hearing her speak with that sarcastic tone while packing a suitcase to flee across the galaxy felt dangerously familiar.
ā He tried to kill you.
ā And now theyāll probably try to blow up my entire apartment, so honestly Iām not sure who won this argument.
That nearly made him smile.
ā Donāt smile at me. This is your fault.
She moved through the apartment again, and that was when Obi-Wan started noticing the framed photographs scattered around the room.
Cassian and Y/N at luxurious dinners. Political events. Trips across the galaxy. She looked perfect in every picture. Elegant. Refined. Cold enough to survive beside Imperial officers. But Obi-Wan knew her. Knew her real smile. And none of those smiles were real.
In one photograph, Cassian was kissing the side of her head while she smiled toward the camera. Perfect. The ideal couple of Imperial high society. But her eyes looked tired. Something painfully tight twisted inside Obi-Wanās chest.
ā You looked happy.
The words slipped out before he could stop them. Y/N immediately froze. Then slowly turned toward him.
ā Cassian liked the version I invented for him, not who I really was. Actually, the second he found out, he didnāt hesitate to have me killed.
Her voice dropped lower.
ā It worked.
ā And you?
Y/N stayed silent for a second. Then let out a short laugh.
ā I was very good at the role.
That hurt him in a strange way. Because Obi-Wan could imagine it perfectly. Her carefully shaping every word. Every reaction. Every outfit. Surviving through performance.
ā He never suspected? ā Obi-Wan asked.
ā That I was a Jedi?
She nearly laughed out loud.
ā Cassian hated Jedi.
That caught Obi-Wan off guard. Y/N nodded while closing another drawer.
ā The Empire destroyed half his family during the wars. He blamed the Jedi for everything. Thought they were arrogant, irresponsible, dangerous.
She glanced quickly toward him.
ā So imagine how he wouldāve reacted if heād realized he was sleeping with one.
Obi-Wanās stomach sank slightly. Because now everything made more sense. The fake life. The photographs. The absolute control.
ā So you lied the entire time.
Y/N slowly exhaled.
ā The people who survive best are the ones who know how to lie.
Then she noticed the way Obi-Wan was looking at her. And immediately narrowed her eyes.
ā Donāt start.
ā Start what?
ā That look.
ā What look?
ā The ādear god sheās still beautiful holding a lightsaberā look.
Obi-Wan went completely still. And Y/N slowly smiled. Victorious.
ā Ah. I was right.
---
She went back to closing compartments quickly.
But then she grew quieter.
Watching him for several seconds.
Far too long.
ā Is Tatooine horrible?
Obi-Wan slowly looked up.
ā Very.
ā Hot?
ā Extremely.
ā Miserable?
ā Constantly.
Y/N nodded as if confirming an old theory.
ā Makes sense that youād choose a planet like that.
ā I didnāt exactly choose it for fun.
ā No, I know.
She leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed. More serious now.
ā How have you been?
That caught him off guard. Because it didnāt sound casual. It sounded real. Obi-Wan took a while to answer.
ā Alive.
She immediately grimaced.
ā Wow. Thatās an incredibly depressing answer.
ā You asked.
ā And you answered like an unhappy man.
Her smile faded slightly.
ā Iām asking seriously now.
Silence.
Obi-Wan held her gaze. And for one absurd moment, it felt like the past again. The two of them alone after a mission. Talking too late into the night. Standing too close. Feeling far too much.
ā They were difficult years, ā he admitted at last.
Y/N watched him silently. Then tilted her head slightly.
ā Did you ever think about me?
The question sounded light. And the worst part was that the answer was humiliating. Because it hadnāt been āever.ā It had been every day. Every single day. He thought about her while watching twin suns rise over Tatooine. Thought about her whenever he heard someone laugh like her. Thought about her during silent nights when the desert felt too vast. Thought about her whenever he remembered who he used to be before the war destroyed everything. He thought about her constantly. Pathetically. Painfully. But all he managed to say was:
ā Sometimes.
Y/N went completely still. Then slowly smiled. Knowing.
ā Liar.
Obi-Wan immediately felt his face warm. No power in the galaxy could save him from that moment. She literally started laughing.
ā You blushed AGAIN.
ā I am not blushing.
He rubbed a hand over his face, annoyed with himself. That only made her laugh harder. And honestly? The sound almost killed him. Because it had been a very long time since heād heard her laugh like that. Y/N took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
ā So you thought about me on Tatooine.
ā Y/Nā
ā Iām trying to picture it now.
She started slowly circling around him. Clearly enjoying herself far too much.
ā You dramatically sitting in the desert staring at the horizon thinking, āWow, I miss that idiot.ā
ā It wasnāt like that.
She stopped directly in front of him. Far too close. Her eyes glittered with amusement.
ā You were really in love with me, werenāt you?
Silence. Obi-Wan simply looked at her. And that answered everything. Her smile slowly faded. Because teasing was one thing. Seeing the truth written across his face was something entirely different. Her voice came out softer this time. Less teasing.
ā Obi-Wanā¦
He looked away first. Of course he did. And that seemed to affect her in a way she hadnāt expected.
ā You really loved my stupid Padawan self all these years?
He let out a weak breath through his nose.
ā You were never stupid.
Y/N stared at him silently. And for the first time since their reunion⦠She looked dangerously close to forgetting there was an entire galaxy collapsing outside that apartment. A distant alarm suddenly echoed outside. Both of them automatically looked toward the window. Red lights swept across the lower levels of Nar Shaddaa. Searching. Far too quickly. Y/N let out a bitter laugh.
ā Wow. Honestly took them longer than I expected.
She grabbed the suitcase again. Then paused. Watching Obi-Wan silently.
ā Youāre still protecting that girl?
He nodded slowly.
ā Yes.
She closed her eyes briefly. As though accepting her fate. Then took a deep breath.
ā Good.
When she opened her eyes again, that old version of her was there. The dangerous woman. Brilliant. Capable of surviving anything.
ā Then letās get off this planet before the Empire decides to blow both of us up.
being in love with a fictional character is wild like what do you MEAN iāll never feel their hands on my waist?? what do you MEAN theyāll never lean in real slow and say my name like it means something?? and what do you MEAN theyāre not real??
